Saw it at kipparing Qld yesterday.

they sold all the 530s now this is the new flock off :

8GB ram will ensure it can run Win 10 properly.

great to buy for a win 10 test device

    • +6

      Flash memory is not RAM.

      1GB RAM
      8GB flash

Lol me bad, still half asleep when I reply

      • +2

That's twice what the 530 has though isn't it? I imagine it'd help a fair bit.

  • +1

Great thanks. Dedicated car phone on aldi365 $30.

    • +4

The last Telstra 532 I bought from WW a month or two ago didn't work with my Aldi SIM.

      • +3

What's a dedicated car phone anyway and how does it differ from a mobile phone that I carry with me everywhere? Even when I get in the car it will still work. Again, pretty sure Aldi sim won't work without unlocking.

        • +2

Dedicated car phone is a phone you leave in your car all the time to play music off an SD card over bluetooth and use as a GPS with Nokia HERE Maps

    • aldi sim also won't work for telstra locked nokia 530

  • +5

    Was $39 last month.

  • +1

How much are these to unlock?

    • +2

      $60-80 with telstra
      $20 with eBay

  • +3

Lumia 530 works very well as a car gps and that is only $19. Not concerned about unlocking.

    • +1

The 532 is a much better choice if you're going to use it as a phone. The suckiest thing about my 530 is the 512mb ram. When internet explorer goes over this limit, the phone terminates it and goes back to the home screen. As a result some web pages are simply inaccessible. also the version of win 10 for phones with 512 mb is going to be very stripped down.

      • why will W10 be so memory hungry? Hope it isn't another Vista.

        • -3

Because it adds new features that other mobile os have had for years.

        • I don't think it's a case of W10 being resource hungry, but 512mb of memory already being a bottleneck. Even on the current OS the 530 runs pretty poorly.

    • I have bought 2 Optus 530 and got both unlocked for free via Live Chat.

Get it down to $25ish and I'll buy it

    • +3

Get it down to $0 and I'll broden it. ;)

      • Get it down to Negative with profit and I'll broden it. ;)

        • Broden it, we'll Neg you.

Just last month Woolworths was selling the Telstra Nokia Lumia 532 for $39. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/197427

So this Microsoft Lumia 532 is $5.5 more than what the Nokia Lumia 532 was going for just last month from the same retailer.

    • Yeah, because they added "Microsoft" to the ads that's worth $5.5 more than Nokia. lol

      • Nope, that one was Microsoft branded and just an error by the op

        • that mistake cost us $5.5 :p

  • +4

bought one last month for $39.
    unlocked for $20.
    damn good phone.
easily best cheap phone ive had.
    8mp camera a nice bonus.

  • I got 530. Shitty screen quality but great gps for use in a car. I'm expecting Huawei y550 for $40 again, bought 4 last time

    • Put me down for some of that action

    • +1

Good luck with that. Maybe the Telstra 4gx buzz will come down to around $50 one day.

    • Which app are you guys using for navigation?

Also how hard is it to use as a fixed navigator? How many steps to turn on, if any, and does it time out?

      • +2

Without internet, HERE+ is the best for free app. It has speed limit alert and good database. The Sygic cost you money but has POI and speed camera alert. You can also use celebrity voice which is fun. The google map is free but require internet connection

        • +1

          ….

  • Besides the RAM are there any other differences between the 530 and 532?

    • +1

Glance, double tap to wake, and double the storage.

    • double ram, double rom, front facing camera, light sensor, slightly bigger battery, but slightly lower res screen

      • Resolution doesn't bother me that much if you can see the screen unlike the 530? (son uses it for mp3 player) P. S. Thanks for the responses. :D

        • +1

I use high contrast. The screen is better than 530, but still a pos. Cant read it in direct sunlight.

      • double rom

That word doesn't mean whatever you think it means.

  • There Here Maps app is great, but how can people say this is good for car use if the display is poor?
A car by daytime can be a very difficult viewing environment.

    • pretty sure there will be an American accent female voice to guide you all the way.

      • +2

She goes all the way??? 😱

    • +1

I use it every day in the car for speed alerts and can see it fine. I have a roof so direct sunlight is usually not an issue.

  • Does it still have the nokia offline mix radio?

    • +1

      Mine have Mix Radio

  • +4

Sold out at the Woolworths near Town Hall in Sydney.
Four were available in the Woolworths in Haymarket (near Paddy's Markets) this morning.

If you have an Everyday Rewards card, you may have also received an offer (which appears to require online activation beforehand) in e-mail for a $5 discount on a $50 (minimum) ‘shop’, so buy another $5.50 in preferably already discounted groceries in the same transaction, and you effectively get the handset for $39.50.

  • Bought one yesterday, but can't get the back off to put the battery and the SIM in, so back it goes …

    • There's a youtube video that shows how to pull the case apart… pretty easy, but hardly intuitive.

  • Can anyone post a reciept please
    Thanks
