Can confirm that the coupon code is unique.

  • Just checked my e-mail and got the coupon too. Thanks OP I will grab one.

  • +1

Hmm… tempted by the price but don't need one

    • You know you want it or a relative at Christmas/birthday time will. :)

      • I don't really need one cause I have something similar that I don't use… but I suppose i could invest in one for gift… this item might go on sale for a better price later though >_< Decisions….

        • +4

You don't invest in technology which depreciates.

        • @mousie: true, but the RRP is $100 more than the current price, which is essentially 66% off atm. Even with depreciation in mind, in five months time, i doubt it would be cheaper than this. Of course that train of thought is excluding any potential promotions on this product, which is still pretty rare from memory.

  • GRRR you beat me to posting it!

OP you might want to add that you if you sign up now you will get the coupon!

  • can it be used online?

    SRS-X2 or Xiaomi?

    • +7

      Sony vs …a xiaomi??

      • -2

I don't think that's a fair comparison. Xiaomi pistons ($20) will outclass any sony IEM <$100.

        • Totally agree with you there….the piston 3s are a really good pair. Not too sure why but everyone seem to be hating them.

        • +1

Then you've clearly not tried a pair of Sony mdr-ex650.

          http://www.whathifi.com/sony/mdr-ex650ap/review

        • @plmko: those are double in price :/

        • @herroherro:

          And double the pleasure :)

        • I have a pair of the new pistons. However they did not fit me well. so the sound quality suffered.

      • +1

I bought the xiaomi from the last deal. I currently sitting on the loo (good acoustics) switching between both.

The Sony goes louder and definitely has more bass.

However I would actually say the xiaomi is clearer particularly with vocals

  • I am already a subscriber but didn't get a coupon. When was the email sent?

    • I received it about 2 hrs ago

      • Yeh I just got it at 5:20pm.

  • How's the sound quality?

    • Pretty amazing. I have a X3 model (10w speaker) and its loud as. this is 2x 10w so im guessing its powerful.

    • Only 5 hour battery life bit low. X3 has over 12 hours. dual speaker I guess its expected

      • +1

According to reviews, if you play at lower volumes, it lasts longer. One reviewer said he got 7.5hrs at 65% volume.

  • how long does it take to get the e-mail after subscribing?

    • +2

PM me if you want the coupon with your email address. Im not going to use mine so happy to forward on.

      • +4

Guys - its one coupon only and offered to Gavman on a first come basis. Lots of PMs… sorry.

      • +1

Thanks I got the coupon.. If u use GMAIL you don't end up getting it it seems. Worked with another domain

        • Got mine on Gmail at 5:20pm. So definitely not a problem.

        • Interesting

  • No worries mate. Anyone got another coupon to spare please pm me. Thanks.

    • +6

Are you in Melb CBD? I can buy 2 with one coupon. I only need 1

    • +1

PM me if you need the coupon. I'm not using mine

  • SRS-X2 or the UE Mini Boom?

    • +3

I haven't used this, but have two UE Mini Booms. I've used both as L/R channel for 16 hours and it probably could've gone on for another 5 hours. Great battery life, waterprood/dust proof and pretty decent sound.

  • I'm waiting for the email to come……

  • Is it in store only? I have the coupon but says present in store… Also anyone in Perh want another? PM me as I only need 1.

  • Didnt work on gmail. Hotmail got it straight away.

Tempted for the price but don't need it
If u need the coupon email me
    I mean PM me

    • Hey mate, I am new to ozbargain and unable to initiate a conversation, could you please PM me the coupon code. Thanks.

      • +1

Sorry another OZBargainer beat u to it :(

    • Gone :)

  • +2

Worth noting Dick Smith selling this for $83.74 (mb cheaper with code). 49$ is cheap but its hardly 70% off

Is five hours play time rather short for a Bluetooth speaker?

    • Yes but when theres 2 x 10w speakers (and Sony have one with 1x 10w with 12 hours battery) then it probably seems about right considering the battery is probably the like for like

  • I am looking for cheap Desktop PC speaker and I see in the specs this unit has a 3.5 mm line in.

Would this work alright as PC speaker?

    • If your PC has Bluetooth its very handy

    • I think you're better off with a proper 2.1 set of speakers like the Logi Z213 for $38 from JB, I've had the SRS-X2 for a while and you can use it for PC sound but I prefer my 2.1 setup because it just sounds better.

  • These are gonna sell out.

    • Was just in Macquarie. 2 left on shelves

  • How is this Sony compared to Soundlink Mini?

    • About $200 cheaper!
That makes it more than worth it. Stop reading, go and buy one. :)

      • +2

I've got my Bose for $ 160 from David Jones ($ 200 minus $40 credit from Amex card). I'm reading buyers review on Amazon and I must say some of them are quite bombastic.

It seems the Sony can play music as loud as Bose but lacks the details and rich bass of Soundlink Mini.

  • Great post. Email came in a minute and there was heaps of stock at Greensborough, VIC.
The staff were all impressed with the price.

  • how would this compare to beats pill XL?? sounds wise?

  • Just subscribed to the mailing list and still haven't received any email. Anyone got a spare coupon? Thanks in advance.

    • Don't use Gmail

      • Out of curiosity, wouldn't it appear on the promotion in gmail section?

        • Nah it doesn't for some reason…

    • Nevermind. Just got the coupon. I used gmail and it took around 30 min to receive the email.

  • Thanks OP. Just picked one up from the Adelaide Rundle Mall store. About 5 left on the shelf

  • Hopefully some left at my local store tomorrow.. sucks I didn't get my coupon till after I got home from work. If I miss out, oh well.. I don't need one.. just been checking out similar devices recently and thought I'd grab one if they ever went on sale.

  • Needs more description in the title…had no idea what is a SRS-X2.

    • Sounds like you don't need one.

  • Pm me for one

  • I have a spare coupon if anyone wants it.

    • yo

  • These were flying off the shelves in Melbourne city. They said they had 100 in stock at the beginning of the day and they had two left when I bought mine at 615pm. I was hoping for a deal on a good quality Bluetooth speaker.

  • i m not using my coupon . pm me if anyone wants it . already got X3 from last dick smith deal and i m not using it much .

  • By the sound of it, this is not for red colour only as stated in the coupon?
    Will OW price beat this?

    • OW don't stock this model. Website doesnt list it

  • They work pretty well! I got mine from Barkley Square VIC, about 3 or 4 left when i bought mine at 17:30 this evening

  • 5 hours battery is not very useful for me so I am gonna give it a pass.
    Great price though!

  • +1

Okay seriously, can someone add "Speakers" to the title?

  • +1

$50 doesn't sound like a novelty buy even though its save $100.. I would only buy it if I need it. And I see no causality

  • One code available. PM if you need it

    gone

  • Can anyone PM with spare code

  • 2 left at Loganholme QLD. Saw a fellow OBer there, he was before me.
Security lady almost didn't let me in as it was closing time. She saw what I had the email printout from JB clenched in my fist and let me in. Haha.

    Get to it!

  • +1

how is this compare to HP roar?

    • 15w vs 20w, so 25% better?

      • That's not a very optimal analysis. At best it means it's (33%) louder. But quality, especially for a Bluetooth device, can vary drastically.

  • -6

Seriously, does anyone still pay $50 for a Bluetooth speaker these days? They are cheaper everywhere. Sony always overprices its product an it is gone…

  • About 12 left at Fountain Gate

  • Bought 1, 2 left. Broadway store, right under the display item.

  • Thanks Op! Got one for Highpoint, with 5-6 pieces still left on display.

  • Any left in Melb CBD? or should I save the trip?

  • Got 1 at Wetherill park nsw, maybe about 10 left

  • I think I just grabbed the last one in the Perth CBD Enix store.

  • Got 1 at watergardens. 5 left. I don't need this at all. Thanks ozbargain..
