Free Postal Address in US with Citibank Rewards Credit Card & Eshopex - No Annual Fee

740

Was looking to find the details of the free Priority Pass membership with my Citi Rewards card and noticed they have a free forwarding address for the US. Eh, nto a huge saving i thought but i looked at their rates and (correct me if i'm wrong as i'm sure many will be happy to do) but the rates are pretty bloody good for shipping (see below). I compared to Shipit.to, MyUS and ReShip and this was much better.
The account is free too but you do have to provide a credit card at sign up so i just used a disposable Visa gift card that I sue for these sorts of things….just in case.

Weight (eg) Rates in US$
0 to 1 kgs. $22.38
1 to 2 kgs. $32.43
2 to 3 kgs. $40.54
3 to 4 kgs. $46.58
4 to 5 kgs. $52.71
5 to 6 kgs. $60.69
6 to 7 kgs. $68.68
7 to 8 kgs. $76.67
8 to 9 kgs. $84.65
9 to 10 kgs. $92.64
Shipping Cost per Additional Kg. $11.18

  • SWEET! Wonder if there is any extra benefit being a Citibank member

    • Yeah, I don't see the benefits of being a Citibank member for this

      • If there is they're hiding it well - maybe the title should be changed? This doesn't seem to have much to do with Citibank.

      • How about citibank plus cards with very low conversion costs?

    • -1

      Where's jv
      What's the normal price?

    • Looks like your saving is only USD 20..

Thanks buy my cousins charge me far less ;)

Thanks Bro but not everyone has a Cuz they can buy.

      • -3

        not everyone has a Cuz

Give it a try, I found most of them via twitter & facebook ;)

    • +25

      Truly the coolest of stories.

  • Is this cheaper than hopshopgo, who also give a free address?

  • +1

Hmmm not filled with confidence when I look at a site that has typos on the front page… 'recieve in Australia'

    • +1

Maybe that is the American spelling ;)

    • But if you don't sign up you'll miss out on all the "Exclusice Benefits", the "programa rewards" and the waiving (or should I say waving?) of the "maintenace fee".
Not to mention you won't be able to "COMPRA & AHORRA EN EBAY.COM."
      ¿Qué pasa?

      • So apparently, this company has found a niche with Chile of all places and it's the #1 forwarding company from the US to there.
So my guess is they have employed native Spanish speakers, hence the dodgy English

Wish I had money for shopping

Amazon US shipping rates to Australia are now amazing. As low as $5, and stuff can get delivered in 4 days if lucky. They improved their filters to quickly find items that ship to AU. Unless you want something that's not on Amazon, forwarders are not worth it anymore.

    • +5

It may become useful in the future when Joe Hockey forces large retailers such as Amazon to charge GST on items worth as little as $20 (or down to $0 as he is threatening). Amazon sees a US shipping address and charges 0% GST. Then the package gets forwarded on to Australia with no tax. Win.

      • Customs. Because in this instance the item wouldn't be coming direct from Amazon but instead the re-mailer?

      • +2

Doesn't work. It isn't the overseas retailer that charges Australian GST. GST is payable by the importer upon entry into Australia.

      • You still need to fill out a customs deceleration form tho right? At least you do with Shipito.

    • +1

Unless you want something that's not on Amazon

Or that Amazon won't ship to Australia - which is a lot of stuff.

  • +5

meh. shit aud to usd atm anyway

I hope you are not waiting for it to get better! :-)

  • rates look sweet! i'm in!

Could be useful for those brands that forbid American shops from shipping to Australia, even via Amazon.
Saves US$ 20 registration fee with this Citibank link.

Note: Eshopex charge USD 5 for Customs Handling Fee in all orders. Seems to be even when duty not payable.
Also, using their shipping calculator, there is a 1% insurance fee AND US $4.50 if not in Sydney.

    • Yeah, I noticed the US$5 handling fee too. Didn't see the other fees though. Starts to add up for us Brisbanites.

  • I noticed early this year, bodybuilding.com jacked up their prices for items when they ship to Australia.
Any guys here still use the site with a forwarder?

    • I doubt it would make much of a difference. With BB stuff you're gonna be paying a decent amount of money for shipping anyway right?

Wonder if this works - http://www.eshopex.com/americanexpress/index.html - Gives a US$15 Amazon Card (need to request), 30% off the first ship, and save $20 for registration

    • Registered with my amex for free and sent them a message. Will let you know how it goes.

    • Applied $15 gift card to my amazon account, so it works

    • I registered a week or so ago and was waiting for the amazon gift card code to arrive before posting it as a deal. I thought i would be out of luck but today the $15 amazon code came throuugh.

  • … seems by far the CHEAPEST when you do the comparison shipping rates on …

    Can you consolidate packages?

  • +2

Is this a legit site? Just looking at the front page, they have so many spelling errors (5+). Also, is it normal to give your credit card details on signup?

  • +1

    I would be careful.

I just tried to register. After putting in all of my details (including credit card details) and clicking register it took me back to the home screen. Nothing in my email confirming I registered. I tried to reset my password with my 'registered' email address and I get a Spanish pop up saying my email address is not registered..

Maybe its time to contact Citibank…

    • +2

Card cancelled.. website reported to Citibank.

    • Good luck with the call centre staff… They are quite annoying and not very helpful. Okay.. customer service are alright at helping out, but the sales guys act like 15 year olds!

  • Hmmm..erm..can we avoid paying gst using this kind of service?

  • +3

    http://www.scamner.com/check/eshopex.com

    better change your credit card!

    • Interesting. Surely Citibank would not be promoting a dodgy website because they would be held liable for any lost money due to referrals. Such a waste of money on their part if this is the case

    • +5

I'm giving that site a relevance rating of 0. Did you read the reasons?

Site will expire in 2 months - so what? Maybe the domain name auto-renews 30 days before expiry. It's been registered for 16 years.

Located in US but traffic comes from Chile. Yep, you'd expect this site to have little interest for Americans. Not surprising that another country is responsible for a lot of the traffic.

      Not suitable for children. OK.

MyMallBox has always been free for the address, they're super nice guys and will take pictures and what not of your packages if needed.
Their rates are great too, used them a couple of times.

  • Does anyone know if the free Priority Pass membership is extended to additional cardholders for Citibank Signature?

  • +1

I fear with the new GST threshold looming, all these forward shipper might go bankrupt soon .. gloomy days ahead for international online shopping

    • +1

Agreement on lowering the threshold has hitherto been elusive. Let's hope WA kicks up a storm again.

    • I'm very doubtful on how they will administer it. It will be very expensive to do so. Even if they force the bigger online shops to charge GST there will be many other shops happy to make it tax free for Australians. If not, there will be loop holes around it.

I also can't see how customs can enforce it when sellers declare the goods as gifts or a product of very low value.

    • +2

GST threshold isn't the issue. They don't need to lower it. The idiots running the country are the issue. Instead of managing costs appropriately they raise taxes.

I wonder if Abbott is raising money to defend himself against the ICC. Hope he rots in jail for the remainder of his natural life for what he is doing against freedom of speech.

  • So what's the score is this dodge or legit and is a credit card required?

    • I think it's legit and yes you need a credit card.

  • edited.

  • Am I missing something … or is this not free? Other than getting an address that may as well not exist until you pay something :p

  • How quick is the forwarding from US to Australia?

  • There are some other benefits of holding a citibank card around the world too. For example, in Singapore a bunch of the restaurants have "citibank preferred" signs out the front and give you 5% off the meal, or special deals during happy hour etc if you pay with a citibank card. Kinda like the American Express flags they have out the front in Australia, but the citibank ones come with actual instant discounts and rewards.
