9515

Description:

At VPN.sh, we've been looking into the possibility of providing unlimited bandwidth VPN's for some time now, and we're just about ready to finally announce that this is ready! We've worked hard to be able to provide this, and are now ready to launch.

This is a very limited offer as a celebration of us launching the unlimited bandwidth packages, where you can get your unlimited bandwidth VPN for just £1/year. We only have a very limited amount of stock for this, however all current clients will be able to get access to 50% off for their first year once we officially launch the packages in a couple of days (standard pricing will be £30/year), so if you miss out on this offer, you can still get a great discount - just drop us an email at [email protected] if you miss out!

As with all of our VPN packages, you'll get access to all of our 24 worldwide locations (more coming soon!).

NOTE: This VPN service does not allow torrents and warez

Am I doing something wrong here? I got it working but unlike Unblock-us, VPN.sh cuts my internet speed by 80% using American IP address and only works via manual setups where as unblock-us has a VPN Which manually sets up on your router equalling Unblocked VPN on any device. Does VPN.sh have a router DNS IP aswell that can be shared via router? Seems all individual although unblock-us is around $50 a month.

    • +1

Unblock-us is different, it has no security and only redirects certain data to go through to a different location that is why it's usually called a smart DNS. VPNs on the other hand redirects all traffic that is why all vpns are slower than services like unblock-us. I think your getting VPN and a new service called smart vpn confused, which combines smart DNS and VPN together.

      • Thanks for clearing that up, i enjoy unblock-us but love the price of Vpn.sh if only there was away to sync all devices to my ip address. But thanks again.

So, After reading this whole thread, I'm still confused, Liam can you answer the following:
    1. Does VPN.SH, you or your servers or anything used to provide a VPN service log, keep, or can track any of its traffic back to a user.
    2. Is Torrents Blocked Period or do you just frown upon them?
    3. What other things are blocked that a buyer should be aware about
    4. What ports are blocked (if any?)
    5. How many 'devices' can be logged in at once
    6. Parts of your policy advises that you will cancel / suspend accounts found to breaking whatever policy you want us to abide by, how will you know which user broke whatever policy if you don't keep logs (you mentioned this before on facebook & on here a few time)

Will you be releasing an APP for android / ios to easily update the IPs when you change them saving users time to login to your site, find the changes and than put them on their devices?

I have already signed up, and am using it for basic privacy, but I feel kind of ripped off (2 bux is 2 bux) that it never advised anywhere Torrents (even legal *nix distros were actively blocked. Would be good to get some answers.

@LiamWithers - Store Rep - Can you please respond to these questions, you have avoided them this far, and that's not fair to us, and looks really poor to anyone who wants to sign up, here is a good way to be transparent as you claim you are.

  • Has anyone got this working with an ASUS router (specifically a AC68U).

I can get the connection to become active but cannot get past DNS issues.
Does VPN.SH have their own DNS servers?

Knowing that it couldn't be used for torrenting, how can i ask for a refund? Not being able to torrent isn't stated in TOS.
-edit. I have submitted a ticket for a refund, purely due to lack of torrenting usage. Let's see how it goes.

    • If they don't get back to you, you can fall back on Paypal.
Edit: you can maybe fall back on PayPal: someone else suggested that PayPal doesn't cover intangibles. (I didn't think this was the case, and I thought it applied to services not as described too, but I could be wrong)

      • I've been able to get refunds through Paypal for other VPNs in the past. Maybe I was just lucky or something like that…

      • +2

PayPal do tend to favour the seller with intangible goods, and they do tend to consider our product as intangible.

That said, we're happy to provide any refunds for those who have had second thoughts about using the service - simply open a support ticket or PM me here guys, and I'll get this sorted for you.

    • +1

It may take us a little while to get through to your ticket (we've had an influx of requests for support, invoice issues, etc.), but you'll receive your refund once we get through to you (we're working through chronologically).

If you want to fast track this, please PM me with your ticket ID.

      Thanks,
      Liam

      • Hi Liam,

we cannot PM you as you are overseas and OZB doesn't allow that. My refund ticket number is 830109

        • +1

          Hi there,

Ah, I see - I have had some PM's come through here without issue, so not sure what's happening there.

I'll get your ticket seen to right away, and have the refund processed for you.

          Thanks,
          Liam

        • @LiamWithers: Thanks Liam. I appreciate you getting onto it so quickly. I wish you all the best with your business. I can definitely see alot of positive comments from those who don't care about p2p.

My only feedback to you, is that i would update your ToS to be more direct by saying P2P / torrents are not allowed, instead of having a broad statement saying it's for lawful purposes only.

  • Hmm.. got all emails saying account verified and setup.

Just tried logging into portal - 'Login Details Incorrect. Please try again.'.

Tried resetting password - password reset email has not come through as yet…….

    anyone else have this issue?

    • +1

the password isnt the password you used at sign up.
one of the last emails you got (payment confirmation) should have the details on how to get your login password

      • [Update - working now… cheers] !

The login to the portal is the username and password you chose, but the password for the VPN is different.

I'm cool with the VPN password, but I've reset my portal password a few times now, and each time I logout and try to log back in with the new password it doesn't work… odd

I'm suspicious of this, this is a kind of offer you give just before you file for bankruptcy and/or go insolvent and/or get shutdown by a government.

    • Or are sponsored by the NSA

  • I wonder how they 'block' warez… do they just block all web traffic?

  • "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package." Well then. :(

  • As mentioned above, the password is not the one used on sign-up. I raised a ticket for a credentials issue thinking that was the case, but will now be retracting it.

  • +3

Is anyone really signing up to this for privacy? You don't want to use any company that is based in US, UK, Canada, AU or NZ.

    Taken from their TOS (http://www.vpn.sh/de/tos.html)

NOTICE: IF YOUR ACCOUNT IS FOUND TO CONTAIN ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, ILLEGAL MP3 FILES, PIRATED SOFTWARE, HACKER PROGRAMS, WAREZ PROGRAMS, OR ANY OTHER ILLEGAL FILES, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE TERMINATED IMMEDIATELY, WITHOUT NOTICE, AND A £30.00 CANCELLATION FEE WILL APPLY. ADDITIONALLY, VPN.SH WILL NOTIFY THE PROPER AUTHORITIES OF YOUR ACTIONS.

They are more than willing to take action against you if desired, where as "trusted" VPNs will only take action if your information is subpoenaed by courts within the country they reside in, plus you have to sign up with your personal details? I appreciate the work anyone operating a VPN does but people need to know what they are buying into.

    • I guess i'll get a refund.

    • According to the rep:

We haven't ever forwarded any logs to any authorities.

So many they are just saying that to cover themselves…

      • +1

By all means that could be true, however the fact remains that the VPN service is located in UK, and will be complying to US and UK laws. Anything in the 5 Eyes can't be trusted if you have a legit interest in privacy.

  • Has anyone been able to access content from the BBC or ITV iPlayers through vpn.sh? Both sites give me the standard restricted content error.

Any vpn.sh reps able to assist with this?

    • +1

Yes, I watched the BBC iPlayer today. Just set the VPN to UK and refreshed the page and it worked.
I am noticing OzBargain doesn't let me post or send messages with VPN activated though..

      • Thanks. In the end I had to explicitly run OpenVPN Client as Administrator for it to change my IP address. Not sure why. BBC and iTV iPlayers both working now. Funnily enough, channel 4's online player is reporting the region restriction. I'm connected as I'm posting this comment, so we'll see if it gets through…

        • +1

Glad to hear that you managed to get this sorted. I'll take a look at why you're having issues with Channel 4's online player.

  • +2

I was going to jump onboard and sign up however I'm not sure now… honestly torrents is what I was thinking but then everyones views above kinda point to staying away from this mob.

    • Yep useless to have a VPN if you can't torrent.

      Subpar speeds, compared without it.

      • Certainly useless to have a VPN from us if your only desire is to torrent. There are many people who want to use the VPN service for other purposes as well.

        • +2

I think you need to be clear about this to your customers… most people will be opting for a VPN these days to use torrents

        • But as seen in a few posts above you're more than willing to throw users under the bus if you need to.

For a compnay that doesn't keep traces of activity wonder how you will detect illegal activity… oh yeah you got logs in case a company takes legal action against you.

Got an email pretty much straight after payment was completed.
Instructions were pretty straightforward. Very smooth setup

    Thanks Liam and Triviums

    • Glad to hear you've had a good experience. Enjoy the service!

      • Hi Liam,
Do you have a solution for me as I still can't get it to work.
        PM'd you again yesterday.

  • OK. I've been playing with this for hours now and no joy.
I can connect to a server is I use the "add new vpn" section of "My networks" on Windows 7 and using the GUI - but only to "Australia 1".
I cannot connect to any server using OpenVPN client.
The relevant ports have been forwarded on my modem/router (Fritz!Box).
I want to be able to change from the US to the UK with ease so don't want the clunky Windows option - want to use OpenVPN.
When I click on any selected server, I just get "connecting" with no option to put in ID details.
    Help?

Does anyone know how many devices can be connected simultaneously using vpn?

  • Will we receive DNS to setup for PS3/4 VPN connections?

  • bought it three days back but haven't yet got activation email

  • speed is very very slow.

i am using hide it pro, and i can get 20Mbps-30Mbps avg speed.

    using vpn.sh, surprised me, 2Mbps …….

BTW, i am on Telstra cable and have 100Mbps connection speed.

so, not able to use it at all. waste my $2….

  • mini-review: US server is OK for Netflix.
UK server low bitrate - usable but poor quality for netflix or BBC.

Not for privacy. WebRTC leaks IP address. Also uses google for DNS, so google gets your real IP address, and anyone in between, I think.

    • WebRTC leaks IP address.

That's your web-browser, not the VPN.

      • Well, sure, the browser is the source.
But a privacy filter would block such requests.
Similarly the browser is creating the DNS requests. A VPN service designed for privacy would have its own DNS server and block other DNS packets so your address is not compromised.

VPN.sh is obviously not designed for people seeking maximum privacy.

  • email received:

You may have noticed that our Australia servers have had some brief downtime recently, and this is largely due to an unexpected influx of clients using our Australian servers.

  • +1

All servers that I have tried in the last 24Hrs have gone down.

    What is going on?

    • US server 104.156.230.130 is OK.

  • All australian and nz servers are dead again. This guy only seems to appear when he wants to collect money. No support at all.

    • This is the explanation I got back from support why the majority of australian servers are down:

      Hi,

Indeed, we're experiencing some network issues on our Australian servers. There was supposed to be an announcement in our billing area about this, but it doesn't seem to have displayed - I'll get this resolved now.

As you're aware, we've got a few Australian customers, and through our more recent offer, we've had an influx of users accessing our Australian servers. This has resulted in us using more traffic than usual, and incurring overage costs at our provider. We're working to fix this (and have sent out an email today in preparation) by essentially allowing users to connect to any of our Australian servers through one subdomain (australia.vpn.sh), and we can then automate the switching of which server is being accessed depending on our usage amounts.

The whole idea is to prevent any future issues popping up where our servers become inaccessible, as we can simply boot up a new server which our users can access, should we end up having higher amounts of usage than expected.

We're rolling everything out officially as of 1st September, but in the meantime, we'll likely put up an extra couple of Australian servers for you (and others) to access.

I can assure you that I'm planning ahead so that this is all sorted, and it should result in higher performance in the long run, as well as meaning you no longer have to attempt to connect to different servers (australia1/australia2/australia3 etc.). You should just be able to connect to one of our Australia servers at all times. Of course if you have a preference of one of the servers, then you'll still be able to force access to that server rather than it being selected automatically for you - however if it goes down, you'd have to attempt to connect to another server, much as the current system works.

I hope that clarifies where we currently stand with this. I do apologies for the downtime, but we're going to incur some hefty overage costs if we continue to run our servers in the way that we are doing so at the moment. By allowing users to connect to our least-loaded server, we'll be able to provide better speeds, and also reduce the likelihood of any overages. Currently, we have a bunch of people using Australia1, and we essentially want to load balance the servers so that no particular server becomes overloaded.

  • I got this to work over L2TP under windows until they changed their configuration (I assume that was what broke it). Now they sent an email saying you should use OpenVPN. I can get the OpenVPN client to connect but my internet browser doesn't actually use that connection. I am behind a proxy at work. For some reason in the OpenVPN client the server IP shows the IP of our proxy server. That doesn't seem right?

    Still waiting for support…

Just figured out that I need to go direct in my internet options. Untick "Automatically Detects Settings". Works find now.
