  • Anyone ever heard these next to a sonos speaker and can say which produces a better quality sound?

    • +1

I have listened to both side by side (the JB Hifi in Westfields Sydney CBD has them both on display) and found the Sonos to be better. But you need to take note that there were multiple speakers for Sonos to produce good quality sound and that would probably cost in excess of 1k. However, out of all other bluetooth speakers, the Samsung M7 were the best.I spent over an hour going through all the bluetooth speakers in JB hifi…
I paid 319 from JB Hifi a few weeks ago, I think it time to use my lowest price guarantee privileges from Debit card and get some cash back.

      • Thanks for that. I've got sonos already but wanting a couple of play 5's, thought this may be a cheaper option but will stick with the sonos. Thanks!

  • Looks like theyve taken down the m3. Can anyone else find them now?

    • Yeah it disappeared for me too. Damn shame, would have bought a few of them.

    • I bought two M5's this morning. I wanted an M7, which I bought online. I had a phone call from HN in Goulburn, checking my delivery address. I asked if he had any M3's, and bought two for $74 each! Maybe HN in Goulburn can help.

      • So you managed to get 2 x M5 for $79 each to compensate for them not having the M3? If yes then that is a bargain for sure!

        • No. I paid $149 each for two M5's, and $74 each for two M3's, as well as $199 for an M7

  • id be fairly weary of proprietary formats like this SOUND business.

Stick with an established brand like sonos or an airplay/dlna compatible

    • +1

It plays similar formats comparable to sonos and it is supposedly dlna compatible although its a bit hit and miss for me.

I have the M5 and M7 and are happy with them especially the latter for the fraction of the price of a sonos play5.

Just an fyi as someone kindly pointed out on a different post, the multitoom hub is no longer needed to group the speakers together with the new updated ios/droid app.

  • Sonos is better.

  • I have the Sonos at home and the Samsungs at the folks holiday place, the sonos have a better sound and app however for the price the Samsung are now very good. When I first received the Samsungs I was going to take them back as I found that the app was as buggy as hell however since then they have had multiple updates and it is now a very good system. The only disappointment is that is does not support Google Play however if spotify or pandora is your thing then you're all set :)

  • The Stand-by consumption of 7w per M7 speaker would add up over a year (61Kw)
