And you'll receive 20,000 Bonus Flybuy points

    That give you around $100.

Can you cancel your card right away after your first transaction and get the points ?

    • +3

Approved applicants will be credited 20,000 BONUS POINTS to qualifying flybuys members account within 4 weeks of offer end date.

So I guess you could cancel a month later.

      buzz killer :(
      $100 not even worth it.

  • You should mention that there's a $89 annual fee.
    Not really worth it.

    • So you'll make $11 profit then…

I wouldn't get it though because of the crap service I've had from Coles Mastercard in the past.

    • added it to title - though it looks like code is valid for No Annual Fee card as well

      • I got the 20000 points previously on the NO annual fee card. So a "free" $100 of groceries at Coles was worth the effort.
This was the deal earlier this year: Previous Deal

It comes around every few months, so I would assume that it is valid for any of the cards.
The advantage of the "Rewards" card is the 2 points per dollar. The NO fee card is only 0.5 points per dollar. So if you spend $20000 a year, thats 40000 points ($200) versus 10000 points ($50).

Has anyone noticed that the rewards CC claims to have no International Transaction Fees? That kind of actually degrades the 28 degrees card as this has "some" benefits when using it.

    • It does not say anything about the exchange rate it uses. Whilst i am happy for someone to clarify if the rates are the same as 28d, I have other cards with similar claims, none have ever matched 28 degrees.

      • If there any way to look at and compare the exchange rates of the two cards before applying for them?

    • The no foreign transaction fees only applies to the $89 'Rewards' card. The no annual fee card doesn't have that, whereas the 28 Degrees and the Bankwest Zero are annual fee-free. So as jv said, you should be $11 better off…

    • Both are GE Money so essentially its a 28 Degrees card with points. Still yet to confirm the XE is the same between the two.

  • Does anyone know if the 'Account Cover Plus' (Price Protection) still available?

One of my friend who got the No Fee Coles Master card a couple of years ago got that scheme.

The terms & conditions back then were,

    Account Cover Plus will:
    • pay the amount by which a purchase on your card account is later reduced
    in price (Price Protection);
    • pay the cost of repair or replacement if a purchase on your card account is
    later lost, stolen or damaged (Merchandise Protection);

One of the food processor he purchased a year ago had a price drop of $90 recently and he was able to raise a claim and got the price difference refunded successfully.

But I am not able to find any reference to this policy now.

Still available. Costs 1% of your monthly closing balance, capped at a maximum $50 per month

      EDIT: http://assets.gecapital.com.au/legals/product-disclosure-sta…

      • Great! Thanks a lot. Btw, my fiend avoids paying 1% of monthly closing balance by paying the card before the statement gets generated. So the closing balance is always nil and he gets price protection for free.

        • Yep, that's the way to do it. Of course, you don't get the 60 odd days of interest free that way though.

  • I never got my points. These was offered in the early days of the card. Called them so many times, finally gave up. They promised to call me back but never did.

The card definitely has international transaction fees. I have been charged for those before. They are itemised.

The point calculation system is dodgy at best. And I don't have time to track every transaction. Flybuys are very much like the Zimbabwee Dollar. They will send you offers that equate to a few cents discount. You don't want to spend 20 minutes on the phone arguing about $1 worth of points.

Take the card for its No Annual Fee, if you want. But there are many cards out there without fees.

"The card definitely has international transaction fees."

WRONG. Free international fees start from August 2015. It's a new feature, I believe the yearly cost of this card has risen in recent times too.

        • +1

The card with the $89 annual fee has no international transaction fees. The rest still do.

  • Is this a targeted offer?

    • Not as I'm aware

  • When I tried the code yesterday, it was still accepted?
Can they knock back the 20k flybuys offer because it was past the 31 Aug deadline even tho the code was accepted?
