    • +9

Good afternoon sir, I am calling in regards to a virus that was found on your computer….

      • +21

Which post above claims that "all Indians are scammers" ???

        • +3

You read my mind jv. Where was the word scammers even used, except by ozzyoi.

        • +7

@ozzyoi: ?? Reread what you wrote. You contradict yourself no less than twice.

        • +6

@Scorpiogirl: My comment was not to harm anyone, I was jus voicing my opinion. Agreed, I read the comment in a haste and replied too. I should have voiced my opinion in a better way.

India is a developing country and I also have got several calls from Microsoft, insurance etc and believe me it is annoying. But at the same time, I understand that some of the people who are doing this (insurance, funeral service etc) are just doing their job and what is been told to them so that they can survive and feed their family. .I am totally against Microsoft scam and the likes.

Totally agree with everyone on this forum about the Microsoft scams etc, I am not defending any country here. Just because we have everything in Australia and have a decent lifestyle, we can say or think low of anyone.
Peace People please. We are all on this earth to share humanity and love and not to have a superior or an inferiority complex.

          Have a good day everyone.

        • +3

@ozzyoi: Ozzyoi I was just pointing it out because i was confused. I didn't take it the way you implied because i don't think like that. I took it as nocure just having a laugh. I give people the benefit of the doubt.

I am not one of those people that will criticize you or neg you because your opinion is different to someone elses. I will actually seek answers and understanding. Your reply was nothing but honest and i respect you for that.

      • +1

can't we all just get along?

    • +2

      Revenge for what?

Ever spared a minute to check why are you getting those unsolicited calls? Time to think?

Stop giving out your numbers to every link that says free, nothing in life is for free!

      • -3

        Revenge for what?

        Ringing me at dinner time
asking me if i'm happy with my long distance
telling me my computer has a virus
asking me to marry a nigerian princess
        do you have solar panels
who is your car insured with
        are you aged 18-50

        • +5

do you recon your number was phished?

Someone sold your number as part of Database, someone who bought it has business to do and you are the customer for their sale.

How did someone sell/get your number? Dig in deep to find the answer.

        • @deepudips:

          Will do, Thanks

        • +2

Am i the only one who laughs? Nigerian princess?

A lot of aussie insurers have outsourced their call centres to india. My friend was dir3cted to a repairer in toowoomba, and she lives in brisbane central. Kind of a long ass drive.

I quickly change the subject and start telling them about my hemorrhoids…

You have probably named each one of your hemorrhoids too haven't you JV?

        • Sounds like the seven dwarves…

Call to microsoft CEO or google CEO, they are on holiday on their mother land

    • -5

they are on holiday on their mother

      WT !!!

      • +5

and more http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-33861128 Time to come out of the hole

        • -4

Pfft, would have never imagined defending JV - but I am pretty sure he was only referring the WT!! to the extracted line ending with mother. It was supposed to be taken lightheartedly.

        • @evolution-flip: To comprehend this, one would require a sense of humour. Why do people think the worst of others? :(

        • @Scorpiogirl: I am not at all surprised by the negatives I've got. I agree a couple of comments here might have racist tones but most were in good zest. I would request people here to take stuff lightly. Stereotypes are funny!!

        • @evolution-flip: Its easy to preach when joke is not on you, try if you don't believe.
And why should one take it when the problem is the speaker want to live in his own little world.

  • +1

they can only be contacted via email. no phone no at all. there is no office (based in someone's home?) i wouldn't give my credit card details to this site. one man show trying to look big.

    • +20

How about doctors, nurses & software engineers ? Grow up man, world is changing now, better to accept it .

    • +9

Why just stop there, you could also say Rejoice Doctors, Software Engineers, CEOs, etc. It's very hard to make fun of something and working hard to earn money and respect is different thing, you wont' understand that.

    • +6

Whats wrong in driving a Cab? Just because your parents left you a heaps does not mean anything for others.

      • Or rather say clinging on to welfare? I would rather respect a Cabbie than a person who lives on tax payers money though he has good health and of working age. You can cheat the social system but not sure how some people can cheat their own?

    • -4

Care to share your nationality there, chap?

      • +10

Didn't know if you were asking me.

        PROUDLY INDIAN.

      • +10

@kaptnkaos- Nationality shouldn't matter. We all are humans and we should respect each other.

        • +1

          @ozzyoi and @deepudips:

Sorry folks, I should've been clearer. Didn't mean to ask everyone though I do appreciate your responses, and @ozzyoi I totally agree nationality should not matter.

For grossly implying that all cab drivers are Indians and/or Indians are cab drivers, @aedeau should be a man and disclose their nationality too.

I'm not really a fan of people who dish it out but can't take it themselves.

  • +1

they charge in US $$ not AU $

  • +15

If I say I amnot surpirsed by the amount of hidden racism here, it would be the truth!! The fact is that Indians are already leading in every sphere and some people can just not stand it.
And by the way, just as most cabbies are Indians, most software engineers and doctors are also Indians! So I would suggest that get out of the well that you are in and look at it afresh!

  • OP Says: Enjoy unlimited calls to India for a month over 3G/4G or wifi.

  • +28

I dont get the fuss these guys make. Cheap and gross!

I know i will get pulled for my comments below, but who cares!

What are you cribbing about? Call centers being in India? Both you and me know the truth that it is expensive here to operate Call centers, plus you want someone to be on 24/7 supporting. Would you guys work 24/7 without fussing about night shifts blah blah..India is growing.

If you are trying to make fun of the English, the most common word used here is "mate". What does that mean? Get over, India is the largest English speaking country in the world, yeah you read it right!

Do you dare learn any of the 700+ languages India speak as fluently India's speak English (spare the flow)?

Are you being gross about the skin color? Brown skin is the most resistant to Cancer. We do not have to worry about Tanning or any crap. Our color does not fade Bro!

    Stop being skeptical of others.

I read someone say WT?? for a comment "Google, Microsoft CEO's in motherland for holidays". Cant digest the fact that most of the best companies are being managed and managed well by Indian's. Such is the nature of knowledge here.

Point me 10 inventions in Oz that changed the world and compare them to the inventions of India.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indian_inventions_and_…
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Australian_inventions

Does not mean or imply Indians should treat other skin brothers different. We respect for what you are, time you reciprocate?

    Grow up fella's.

    • +7

      Well said and put!!

    • +9

Thanks Deepudips. I understand how you feel! Lets just love and respect each other without considering Ethnicity, Religion, Race, Profession. That's what my parents/elders thought me.

      • +1 To your parents for teaching you some good manners :-)

    • youre right. I dont know how Aussies would have ever gotten along without the:

      Chaturanga
      Chintz
      Incense clock
      Indian clubs
      Kabaddi
      Prayer flags
      Stupa

haha im just being a dork…..but when you claim to have invented the button AND the thong, thats where i draw the line ^_^

      Toe stirrup
      Button:

but its hard to beat spray on skin, wifi, bionic ear, ultrasound, the tank, electric drill, torpedo, a notepad! and that permanent crease in your woolen pants haha.

      peace

      • @Calam05, I can only laugh at you for your lack of knowledge.

Do you even have some patience and ability to understand/read more about Chaturanga? or anything else you mentioned?

        • na, i just skim read your links. i was just having a laugh man… but as for ability to read more…maybe i could google it if i focus really hard

        • @Calam05: Good luck

  • +2

Well that proves that how many racists people we have on Ozbargain.Look at yourself Two words "GROW UP"

  • +7

Guys take a chill pill and behave like bargain hunters! I am not even sure why the f*** some people are concerned about other nationalities , ethnicities……Just enjoy …share if you have something good to share otherwise…stay in the background and let Oz bargainers be in peace!!!

  • Don't forget to use the referral link above for extra credit on new sign-ups.

  • Can we get everyone to start calling up people saying that we are a call centre based in Australia?

    Also, anyone got Sacchin's number?

    • +2

For that you need to loose your shyness

  • +18

I am sorry…but considering the direction of discussion, I need to put my Two cents in.

You may not believe it, but India is technologically more advanced than Aus. Please check Indian online retailing websites like- Flipkart and Snapdeal. For that matter even - Amazon India….but wait, Amazon doesn't even sell on its own from Australia.

Get into any Indian Metropolitan and have a look at the malls over there and sheer variety of products. In India, you have at least 10 satellite TV options which show most of the channels in the world for less than 10 dollars per month.

IITs and IIMs are the most difficult institutions to get admission into. Those who are unable to get into these go to Harvards, MITs and Stanfords. Most of the people who can't stand with local talent (including myself) move to other countries. Indian English is purer than Australian one. And there shouldn't be any fuss about the accent, since even Americans dare to make fun of Aussie accent. ;)

Most of the Indians are aware of what is happening around the world and are not engulfed by the siege/isolation mentality. India never attacked any other land/country. So, there is no question of oppressing the aboriginal people. The Alexander had won entire known world but India. Here, he was defeated and sent back.

India has strong presence in UN and is a powerful player in world politics. India is one of the biggest economies in the world, not an isolated place at the remotest corner of the world. India has its own satellite program and is a destination/vendor of choice for many developed countries to launch their satellites. It is a responsible nuclear power with a defense force that is in the best-5 of the world. Many phone manufacturers release their models first in India and China because these users are the most tech savvy.

And please don't even mention the migration. It is Australia, which gets millions of dollars through immigration and student visas. These migrants pay hefty fees to get their visas and then further invest millions of dollars in Australian retail/housing/hospitality industries. Then these experienced technical degree holders/MBAs work (peacefully) under the TAFE qualifies 'Managers'. So, Australia should be thankful of migrants for boosting their economy. And yes, you got it right. Indians would drive cabs rather than sitting idle on government benefits. Indians would give respect even when it is not due.

With its inherent faults and advantages, India along with China is one of the best in the world when larger picture is considered.

And what applies to India applies to China also. So, please stop the racist remark and appreciate the positive impact these two countries have on Australian economy and culture.

I am sorry for this long and off the topic reply. But considering the unwarranted racist remarks, I thought to put my two cents in. This is only for those almost extinct racist species on the earth. Most of the Australians I have met are extremely friendly and more Indian than I am. :)

    • +2

      Well done dude

    • +1

      good one panko

    • I completely agree. IIT and IMMs are the best in the world. I know many who tried there but failed and then came to Australia for higher studies. If you look at the top tier world companies, all higher profile managements of Indian origins are from IIT and IIM.

Yes, there were some inherent problems due to some political dominance which has changed now and a fresh breeze can be felt everywhere. It was under the colonialism where Brits caused many damages and uprooted the very basic values of culture and nature (Yes, they had contributed as well which shouldn't be forgotten). Also, just like anything, being quite an old culture, it has its own erosions as well. Hopefully the next generation or the generation after, will bring the much needed change.

    • I understand the love for India however, here are some facts which need to be noted as well.
      1) One of the most notorious countries in world for human rights voilations and opression of minorities. I better not give examples here otherwise it would make you feel more shameful.
      2) One of the most corrupt countries in world where it is ranked at 158 out of 189 countries in world and Australia is rated number 7.
      Source : http://www.doingbusiness.org/data/exploreeconomies/india
      3) The long stories of economic development is a myth and very limited to very few corrupt people and
MORE OF WORLD'S POOR LIVE IN INDIA THAN IN ALL SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA,
      source : http://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/jul/14/poverty-india-a…
4)India also carries a nomination to be a rape capital of world.
      source : http://www.more.com/news/india-rape-capital-world
5)RACISM, I have faced racism in Australia being an India but it is way much better than what they have in India due to evil caste systems. I rather not go in details again ……..

THe list will continue and many of my Indian friends won't like what I have written. The problem I have is when you are living and earning in Australia and comparing with the country you left for a better life. Is that called hypocrisy.

I love Australia because it has given me equal opportuniy to earn money and grow in my life which would have been impossible doing in India because of level of corruption and mess they have back there and that is why all my Indian friends are living here as well.

I dont care if you neg after reading this to hide this valuable information but truth is truth, if you are so proud of India then you would not be earning money here and sending it back to India.

      • +2

Well well well…..I was surprised how long did it take for this broken record. I was expecting it far too sooner.
        1. Notorious for human right violations and oppression of minorities? Really? Which minorities are you referring to? And who create such ridiculous rankings? How about human right violations done by British for over 150 years? How about oppression during partition? How about wealth created by looting India? How about the plight of aboriginals? Or your concept of human rights is limited just to your community or for the sake of your argument or just for criticising India?
        2. You are talking about corruption. Yes. There is corruption. But steps are being taken to reduce it. I guess you are ignorant enough to have not heard about RTI and the revolutionary effect it is having. Various Egovernance projects are coming up and that would surely result in great improvement. And to break your argument even further, if India is so corrupt, why are MNCs running to have operations in India? I gues you got your answer. I don't wish to make you feel….what you said?…..yes shameful.
        3. So you tell about more numbers of poor in India. Wow!!! Then are you aware that Indians have more rich people than entire population of Australia? You may check online about the population of India and relative percentage.
        4. India is raising its voice against rapes, while most other countries remain silent. It's Indian citizens who are marching against it. That is why it gets more coverage in media. And people should be proud of nation, which has awakened to the challenge and taking collective steps to overcome this issue.
        5. Please don't play the broken record of caste. What punishment do people get in Australia for racism? In India, there is an act called- atrocity. If someone complains against casteism, then the concerned person is sent to jail without an option of bail. So, what is your next point?

If people are honestly living and earning in Australia by paying taxes, then there shouldn't be any issue about voicing their opinions. May be you are not of them or may be you haven't come out of the slave mentality or may be you are the one who takes pride in bashing your Homeland to please the others.

If you are not able to prove yourself in Indian market, please accept your inability to compete with local Indian talent. Please don't give excuses. Accept the truth.

Your Comment: "if you are so proud of India then you would not be earning money here and sending it back to India."
Reply: I pity your level of thinking. If any honest man is paying his taxes, he is earning his income. You have no right to comment on where they send their money. If this is the case, what is your opinion about 150 years of colonisation and sending back billions of pounds back to England or any other country involved in colonisation? Grow up man.

  • +4

No need to reply to these racist and ethnic comments, some people still believe, Sun STILL Never sets in British Empire, we cant change them….

    • :) like "papa cj" said in winter sun never rise in British Empire.

  • +1

I am just wondering… Many people have negative impression about India (or any other country) How much knowledge people have about India's (or other country's) present & past?
I have also notice that Australian media shows/prints mostly negative news about India, it does not mean that India has only negative side it has positive side too. I think media has created this perception in people's mind.
No country is perfect, every individual work towards making their country better place to live.
Lets not judge individual on the base of their ethnicity, religion, race or profession. Only judge by their karma.

take it easy guys and have a laugh.
