Logitech K810 Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard $109.90 @ Harvey Norman

41

Usually at around $125 dollars as I've been keeping an eye out on this one, then I've noticed today by accident the price is now down to $109.90 at Harvey Norman. If you're after a keyboard that pairs to three devices and switches easily, this is one of the best out there.

Why would you want a wireless keyboard this expensive? You can get a mechanical keyboard for that sort of money.

    • Mechanical Bluetooth?

    • for mobile devices and HTPCs, not gaming etc

This is a top keyboard. Got it ages ago from Amazon when it was on sale. Definitely not the cheapest it's been, but it's a great product.

    • I reckon K480 is way better than this one in term of usefullnes
You can put your tablet/phone in the empty slot and type easily.

Best feature is when you've got multiple devices and need to switch between them quick. Your mechanical bluetooth won't do this.

  • how do you move the cursor?

    is there a touch pad?

    • You can buy a t650 which is designed to match this keyboard.
Unfortunately they didn't make the t560 Bluetooth like the keyboard. So you will need to waste a usb port for the receiver.

  • Fantastic keyboard bought it from HN for around $70 from a previous Ozbargain post

    Hi guys
Just want to give those interested in this a HEAD UP before spending your cash on this keyboard.

I originally bought the K811 (mac/ipad version) which I found did not work properly with windows and android, after calling Logitech they advised the issues were due to no support for android/windows on the K811 and told me to get the K810 as well. SO I forked out more money on the K810 expecting it to be compatible with Android 3.0+ and windows.

However I found similar problems with android as I was getting on the k811 (worse actually). Stiiiiky key problems… wherrree keys would reepppeat when typing while on the internet. I've been back and forth numerous times with logitech support trying to get this fixed. Eventually they admitted it was a KNOWN issue other users were hitting and agreed to replace the keyboard when the new model was out. I have now (about 1 year after opening the original warranty inquiry due to the poor support process and need to wait for the new model) got the replacement! I've tested it already on two android phones and both have the stiiicky key problem and as with the original also suffers from issues where it loses connectivity from windows machines for periods of time.

Anyone seriously looking at this piece of junk of a keyboard, take a good look at the Logitech forums and search for "sticky keys K810" as a starting point.

I personally hate the K810 because of this issues and am really fed up with the behaviour of logitech in resolving this matter. The keyboard is clearly advertised as working with android 3.0 but its a hit and miss affair on whether you do or don't have this sticky key issue. For a keyboard this expensive you would expect a LOT better quality.

p.s. First unit ended up having a leaking battery too which occurred after sitting on the shelf for months waiting for Logitech support to approve a replacement.

Anyway good luck if you want to spend $109 on this.

I had this problem and after searching around stumbled upon someone's solution of removing Microsoft dot net.
      It actually worked. YMMV

      • Are you referring to the disconnection issue? Many applications on the desktop are dependant on .NET though so it would be difficult to uninstall .NET without it breaking a lot of applications. Was there a post on it, maybe it was a specific change?

        • I haven't had disconnect issues. My problem was typing and getting keys repeated.

for examplllllllllllllllllllllle this is what I had.

I only .net for AMD catalyst control on my HTPC. so I wasn't concerned with losing that.

    • Logitech is a junk company . It is popular online because a lot of kids get sucked into their marketing. I have been fooled by the positive reviews too and bought a few of their "premium" products - but I guess have a different interpretation of premium and their teenager target market.

you keen so tell yours to me? im hoping to get a bargain.

      • I bet heap of dudes are happy to get it, if the price is right. Me included.

        • lol, i asked first. since he hated it so much i would be surprised if he is still using it

    • The repeating key problem is not an isolated problem to K810/K811. This happens to Microsoft Wedge Keyboard as well.

And the repeating key problem also mentioned elsewhere in Microsoft community

keyboard unintentionally repeating letters as I type…

Windows receiving false key presses (as if a key is being held down)

I bet the problem roots from Microsoft Windows, as gummibear hinted in his comment.

      • Good point and useful links, possibly some people might get the occasional repeat with any keyboard if those settings are not properly done in windows.

On Android, the K810/K811 has a problem differentiating messages on the "communications bus" so you get a roll of letters (even after your finger is removed from the key) each time there is traffic (e.g. bluetooth wifi bursts data the keyboard goes crazy) Does not impact every device though (e.g. microsoft windows I only see the disconnection issue and a few repeated characters that could be caused by what your article there described)

As for my use, I still use the k811 on an ipad, seems to be fine in this use but I guess to be fair its cumbersome to carry around due to its dimensions and lack of case. Might be better with a built in keyboard / case option for ipad I seen these around.

The K810 we are discussing on this post, my one has been in the bottom draw for a very long time as Logitech won't offer a substitute product or any other option. The replacement was pretty much the same problems and as its layout is not really useful for apple products it will take its place in the draw of regretted oz-bargain impulse purchases! Annoying. Must be some better Bluetooth keyboards out there that work well with Android?

The repeating key problem may be deeper than Microsoft Windows issue, it may be bluetooth is source of the problem.

For Android issue, have a look at How to prevent characters from repeating when entering text with a Bluetooth keyboard?.

        • @O O:
Article looks familiar. (my major testing was done many months ago so I can't remember everything I tired, but did spend heaps of time initially trying to fix it)

Disabling WIFI and Bluetooth seems to stop or at least drastically reduce it, but of course the main "use case" and reason for buying the keyboard was to write up emails while on the run.. which needs WIFI as I use gmail. :(

Logitech confirmed its a known hardware problem a couple months ago to me and haven't offered any workarounds as they claimed they could fix it by replacing the unit (Which didn't work).

I am pretty certain Bluetooth 4.0 (and later android builds) are much easier to program to, so supporting newer hardware should be in theory much easier for hardware vendors building keyboards or mice. That said, logitech recon the keyboard should work with devices running android as old as 3.0.. I think they have rocks in their heads personally. But they know their own hardware (in theory).

  • I like this keyboard. I've had one for nearly a year and it's great for joining Twitch chat in bed.
