I've got an original Paperwhite Kindle.. keep tossing up whether or not to upgrade, very tempting for this price though.

    • Ditto, I was ummming and aaahing over night and when I saw the price had dropped more I bit the bullet.

  • Thanks for posting this, I've purchased it using the CTREAT20 voucher. There was no stock available for pick up near Melbourne therefore I had to shipped it home for around 7 bucks.

    Cheers

  • I know very little about ereaders etc, bought one some time ago for my Mum, Laser branded POS and the battery isn't holding up apparently, needs regular charging so am looking for something else. Having seen it again recently, the screen quality is also pretty awful.

Is this, for the moment at least, about as good as an ereader gets? I was hoping for something a bit less expensive but will consider it, particularly with the 20% off.

    • The battery life on these are fantastic (around a month) and the backlight on Paperwhites are great. Definitely the best in the market, Kobo are pretty well regarded too, but I've personally had bad experiences with the Kobo Glo.

      • What happened to your Kobo Glo? I am tossing between Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo Glo HH for night reading to replace my phone, and possibly Sony ereader 3, which has been great so far.

        • I had to take two of them back within three months, and they'd just frozen and wouldn't reset. The person serving me at Big W had said this was an issue with a few of them. Ended up getting the Kindle instead, and haven't had an issue since.

Mind you, this was in 2012, so may have just been a dodgy batch.

        • @93matt:
Perhaps that was one of the reasons why it was number of times heavily discounted. I would hope the Glo HD is better but it is also pricier.

        • I have both the Glo HD and the newest Paperwhite (well technically one of them is my partner's). The Kindle is much more impressive when you first start it; but after having both for a bit the Kobo is much nicer to read on, its lighter and has better text. Kindle has X-ray and seems just a tiny tiny bit faster though. You cant go wrong with either. I got the Kobo Glo HD for $155 from Jb Hifi but the advertised price there was $179 so brush up your haggle skills if you want it cheaper.

Also it's easier to find free Epubs for Glo HD, although if you use this program called Calibre you can create a Kindle compatible version pretty easily.

        • @mightyfes:
Thanks for the input. I do use Calibre and have converted all my books to Epubs. Its amazing piece of software and so helpful. I missed the current deal on Kindle as my phone would not load the site and when got back home to the desktop it was all too late. Will venture out for hands on with Kobo to check the reading experience.

  • Thanks, I've been wanting to buy a Kindle for a while now, this is just what I'm after.

  • Any good deal on NextGen?

  • Missed it. I got a "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available." with 194 sold.

    • Used Get30 and picked one up anyway for $149.

  • still out of stock
