Instore it's in the 'clearance' area. Strangely the Black one is not.

  •

Crap watch, bought it back then, after less than a week the whole screen became distorted/ gibberish. Did a google search and apparently its an issue. Returned it for refund immediately.

yea, i returned my too, the screen became scrambled. was really disappoint.

My friend got 4 from the states and they were all fine.

Mine became scrambled too after a few weeks. I emailed them and they sent me a replacement, haven't had an issue since. Great watch!

The concept is great, and it's great value of money, but I found the plastic bezel to be really cheap/tacky.

I was considering upgrading to the Steel, but then heard they were making a new colour model, so i'll see what that's like before getting another one.

        •

@Curiosity: They will also probably make a steel version of colour, too.

        •

Same experience with a screen issue and subsequent replacement here too.

        •

          @Curiosity:
The colour ones are already here! I've had mine for 2 weeks… Ordered on kickstarter months ago… I was expecting a big improvement from the original pebble, but I have to say I'm a little disappointed
It's an E-reader colour screen so bad contrast, no other functions with an iPhone (yet, they say it will eventually be able to respond to text messages - it can already on android)
Kickstarter edition came with leather and metal band which are great quality - but not really worth the price tag

Have had mine for 2 years and have had no problems with it. Pity, since I have no reason to upgrade to the new Pebble Time because of this

    •

Mine doesn't refresh properly sometimes, but it's fine.

    •

I had one that ended up the same faith. However I went through Pebble's customer support and reported this well known issue on a particular batch of watches, and they only asked for some photos as proof. Without further questioning they sent me a new watch that arrived 3 weeks after. I have been wearing it for the last 4 months without any problem.

It is a good smart watch for the price and the functions suit my life style.

      •

Were you able to swap the colours? My black steel is experiencing screen tearing and i wanna swap it to the silver

Common we all know it's a great watch even better than most, give it some compliments guys. For me it's cheap price to the rest and does everything like the rest.

The colour version selling in US is much nicer more expensive but you do pay more for quality, the new Pebble Time has a color screen and is thinner and a metallic bezel.

However I have been wearing my black and white screen pebble for over 2 coming to 3 years now. Never had an issue and the alarm and timer is one of the best features, I am never late for anything due to the accuracy of its alarm and always work. Also I have never ran out of battery on the Pebble, And I use it for work for gym for going out and it is pretty good.

Thanks OP. This has got amazing reviews on Amazon

If this was in black, I would be buying it in a heartbeat. Why do all the good Pebble deals only ever apply to the Red model?

  •

You can apply a skin on a pebble too. I've got a black pebble and made it Gray.

  •

Thanks OP, pulled the trigger after managing to lose my second Mi Band in a row..

  •

Honest question for someone that owns one: What do you use it for every day?

I imagine once you've set a nice watch face you keep it and don't swap it around much.

Other than that you can see who is calling/read SMS/ basic email (what happens to emails with graphics?)?

I'd like one because I love gadgets but am finding it hard to justify purchasing so was just wondering.

    Thanks in advance!

My phone is on vibrate mode all day, so I like having my notifications coming to watch as soon as they arrive. It is also useful to track time/distance when running. Other uses include skipping music tracks when you are away from your phone.

    • +2 votes

Checking notifications instantly and inconspicuously is great, you can reply back to a text in a few seconds with preset replies.

Changing music is the best feature since I don't need to reach into my pocket or press the console while I'm driving.

      •

Michael152286, which pebble app are you using to reply back to a text using your pebble? i have tried "email to sms" pebble app but failed to get it to work?

I own a black one turned it into a white one with white strap and white skin. the watch works great, like onlyme my phone is always on vibrate mode, use app like misfit to track my workout, play and pause movies when casting movies to my tv when phone is left charging in its dock, rejecting calls while i am seeing px, love my pebble though it would be nice to upgrade to the pebble time which has microphone where you can answer call from your watch if you wish but apparently it isnt as robust when pairing with an ios (better with android) which is what holding me back to upgrade. Maybe when the pebble time price reduces, with the newly release and the way the AUD vs USD is going i doubted it will be under $200 aud any time soon.

        • +2 votes

If you use an Android phone, replying to sms is built into the pebble OS. I'm pretty sure you need to jailbreak if you use an iPhone

Images obviously don't get sent as push notifications to the watch, but English letters are fine. It's also useful as a sleep tracker, alarm, multi-timer, and swimming trainer (being one of the only smart watches that's waterproof!)

    • +2 votes

yes, absolutely use it daily and love it, but mine was the black, bought way back at the launch (was a kickstarter backer).
yes, tend to use one watch face myself 90% of the time.
yes, can see who is calling and cancel, can read sms and text emails, not catalogs or pictures. Can also set it to send other notifications like hangouts and lots of other apps. You can also control music, great for in the car.
I love mine, a few minor gitches but nothing major. If I had spare money I'd consider the colour version, but content with the black for the meantime.
I'd not personally waste money on the other smart watch options (clones) (e.g. apple, samsting, etc) the pebble guys just "got it" where the clones all seem to suffer from the same non-innovative thinking..

I can't speak to the quality of the current units, ours are from the original launch so are what a couple years old now probably and working strong.

I sleep with my kids, so having the silent alarm is a big help as it doesn't wake them up like my phone's alarm would.

As others have stated also, I too use it to change tracks/adjust volume on my phone so I don't have to take it out of my pocket all the time. Works a treat.

This is the price it should be at (or lower) as it's now outdated

Bought mine for $79 last year in one of DSE's sales. It's a great introduction into smart watches or Christmas gift for a parent or child.
Waterproof to 5 atmospheres, great for a summer in and around the water. Although it was ripped off my arm in the surf last christmas as the leg rope ran down my arm in one of the more violent dumpings I've had. The black watch sat on the sandy bottom and I simply picked it up, all it needed were new pins in the band.
The battery last 5 days, and at least 10-12hrs after the 10% warning comes up. Charges up in 3hrs.

I use it everyday, it's a watch, it tells the time sync'd to a time server on the net. most accurate watch I've ever owned. Though sometimes I forget it if I've left it on charge.
Change the face every few months, build your own at http://www.watchface-generator.de
Useful for reminding you that you left your phone behind. I left the phone on my desk or in the car, when bluetooth loses connection with the phone it vibrates. More useful than it sounds.
I put a 'nato' watch strap on mine.

I ordered the new Pebble Time Steel via kickstarter, and coincidentally recd the shipping email this morning.

My Pebble time arrived few days ago but I have not had chance to use it as my handset is still coming from overseas.

I have tried Sony Watch 3, All the Samsung Shing-a-lings Lgees, all are a dismal failure. Android wear is clumsy at best. Pebble OS is so easy to use and not clunky like Android wear. Not only that all Android watches have at best 18 hours wear time and you still have to be very careful not to have the screen show any time or your battery will die. All the resolution of Android wear watches are terrible. That, together with thick thick thick body you will see why Pebbble is such a success.

I have been waiting for the Pebble colour screen since the day I bought my Black and White nearly 3 years ago I knew that day will come and now it's here.

Totally agree with your observations. I must say I really like that in this modern day and age a few clever guys with little money can go out there put together a gadget and company that kicks the living daylights out of the major manufacturers from both an innovation prospective and a quality perspective and still be going it years on from the launch.

Because I started wearing Pebble nearly 3 years ago, I think this is testimony that this startup was a huge success as I never have any issues with it. I know there are critics and let's face it if you really want to you can critique even the Iphone 6 Let's not go there. But most of the issues critics raised of the first pebble was definitely noted. The watch face is more streamlined in Time, the silicone strap have a much better feel. A real 2.5D Arc glass is used instead of non glass original pebble. The bezel is now made of marine grade material. And the thickness is even slimmed down. Even the packaging is improved and look much more premium. They did take on board many feedbacks and have improved/ In fact I can see them improving even more as time passes. (no pun intended)

I cannot get the DAD20 code to work with the Pebble, says its invalid

  •

Ordered 3 in three separate transaction.

  •

I bought it for $79 last Christmas. it's still selling for the same price.

  •

Coupon Code Still Working as of now. Coupon banner has disappeared though, which usually means that it will probably expire soon. Zzzzzz

  •

The Pebble Time is definitely an upgrade though. Especially coupled with an Android device and the built in microphone, it's essentially a cheaper Apple watch.

  •

great device and value. screen crashing is something can be fixed. Worth every cent.
