[EXPIRED] $100 from ANZ into SmartyPig

211
FEBUSAVE

Got free $100 for signing up with a savings account.
But basically I signed up with Febusave on the ANZ website which is free and a promotion encouraging saving. Once I signed up, I was told I would get $100 deposited into a SmartyPig account if I set up one. Just needed the code FEBUSAVE. The smartypig account was free too and is another promotion encouraging saving and linked to ANZ too.

Gone through all the steps and $100 in my account today! Was pretty quick took maybe 48-72 hours for both accounts and all free.
Might only be for women cos the febusave is some woman saving thing.
Can't find a link showing the promotion but I think it only appeared once I'd signed up for the Febusave thing.

  • Need more details. If it is only for Woman then you probably should put it in the title.

Wow great find, did you go through the whole document certification thing?

I have been a ANZ customer for over 10 years which makes it kinda annoying. I might ring up tomorrow and sing that If you don't know me by now you may never never ….. song down the phone.

    • Yea I got the same thing. Im going into a branch tomorrow and getting the person to sign it for me.
As it says "12. an officer with 2 or more continuous years of service with one or more financial institutions (for the purposes of the Statutory Declaration Regulations 1993);"

Hopefully they can sort it out for me.

    • I used my 'full official' name and address that matches my actual ANZ account and didn't need anything certified at all. It literally only really got my name, address, DOB, phone and TFN. I think that was all the personal information…

      • Ahhhhh Stupid ANZ. There must be more than 1 me's living around here.
I had similar troubles when I was getting the ANZ CC, had to go into branch and they checked and asked if i was the right person. lol

Oh well looks like free $100 is on the way!

Wow - Initial post isnt the greatest… Never-the-less, I took a leap of faith.

    Steps:
    1) Use any link you like to sign up (I went directly to www.smartypig.com.au)
    2) Go through and signup as per normal
    3) Step 3 you MUST include the FEBUSAVE coupon code (Case sensitive)
    4) At no other point in the sign up, does it actually confirm/explain/do ANYTHING to indicate what the coupon code is! :(
    5) Once the account is created, your 'Profile Page' has the $100 ready to be deposited
    6) Before you can take the money, you must have a savings goal
6a) I THINK you need to have a funding source before you can have a savings goal
    7) Thus, create a funding source (The account where money will come from each month)
7a) And further thus, create a savings goal
    8) With the above complete, go back to the 'Profile Page' and redeem your $100

Obviously, I can't confirm that the money comes through quickly (or at all), but everything (from this reliable ANZ website) seems to indicate this will happen in the next few days.

For the record, I am male (and did not lie on my application) and it all seems good so far.
Off topic for this… But the website concept seems like a very good concept. You can create multiple savings goals and track your progress (Even make it public if you want, so people can see how you're going and chip in for you as well).
What I don't like is it is monthly only debit form your account, and I'd rather be able to specifiy how much I want to chip in (It calculates it for you. EG, Say you want $500 for a SOMETHING in 5 months… It'll force you to do $100 a month)

All in all - Great deal. I can see this going viral very quickly. Cheers!

    • Cancel that… The $100 has shown up immediately.

At this stage, I can cancel my savings goal, and have the money sent to my bank account.
(I'm going to let it run and actually use this though - So untested)

      • Delete, answered above.

      • where do you see your profile ? in smartypig or somewhere else? i can't find it ?

        • Yea. Its all in the smarty pig website.
Create the account and it should have you logged in automatically.

Website is decent. I see this being aimed more at the younger kids. Making it cool and easy to save etc.

          • @BluBoy: Thank you for the direct link I think that saved me some time and helped me get in before it was gone.

      • it appears that you managed to register and create your account instantly… qhereas I am stuck on step 7 of 8 which reads as per below. I've been stuck on screen 7 for a while now, doesn't look like it will go to screen 8 and there's no button to press either.. aaarggh.

        Register: Step 7

        Application Pending (Code Verification:2002)

In order to complete your registration with SmartyPig we need to verify your identity. During this process you may receive an email requesting additional information. Once your application has been verified, you will receive notification via email with your next steps.

To do this, please complete the Identification by Certified Copy form below and send to:

The form details what identification documents are acceptable and who is authorised to certify copies. To produce a certified copy, you should make a photocopy of the original document and take the original and the copy to an authorised person.

Once we receive your identification documents, we will send you an email within 2 business days confirming your account registration.

        • The deal has been pulled before it went viral

  • Is there a monthly account fee?

  • From the email: (The tiny T&C's at the bottom)

*In order to use a SmartyPig coupon code, the recipient of the coupon code must open a SmartyPig account and enter a valid coupon code at the time of registration. When the recipient nominates a Savings Goal, the value of the coupon code used during registration will be deposited into the first goal.

    • Good to know. Make you initial goal small then :)
Minimum is $250… So just go with that.

  • Too late:

Sorry! We've encountered a problem with your request:
    • The campaign code you have supplied is no longer active at this time.

    That didn't last long!

    • :o

I hope I get it! Mines still pending the verification.

  • So is it not available anymore?

  • $100! Thanks guys. It's an interesting idea - I'll probably use it for a couple of months and see if it helps with the savings.

The interest rate right now for the account is 4.5% - is that alright?

  • not available anymore :(

  • You can get 5.51 with ubank, so it depends how picky you are!

  • This site states that it is only available to 100 people…

    http://www.bemoneyconfident.com/febusave/savingtoolkit.php?t…

'Want to kickstart your saving this FebuSave? The first 100 FebuSavers to sign up for SmartyPig will receive a coupon code for $100 to go toward their first SmartyPig savings goal^*.

To use your SmartyPig coupon code, simply enter the word shown in your FebuSave confirmation email in the field provided during the SmartyPig signup process.'

    Has anyone else tried since?

    No Longer Valid.
Please mark as such to avoid wasting people's time!

    • Do you always use such an angry tone?

  • Yup, says the code isn't valid anymore.

  • "The campaign code you have supplied is no longer active at this time."

  • I can confirm it is no longer active, I got the same message after trying to register my mrs for an account.

  • I guess they reached the 100 person limit!

People who signed up with the code before it went off should get the money, provided they:

^*In order to use a SmartyPig coupon code, the recipient of the coupon code must open a SmartyPig account and enter a valid coupon code at the time of registration. When the recipient nominates a Savings Goal, the value of the coupon code used during registration will be deposited into the first goal

  • If one's account requires you to send in the documentation and you registered prior to the 100 quote being exhausted, will you still get the $100?

    • Yes I would say so. Otherwise technically at the time of entering you entered it and it worked, but due to their "legal checks" it prevented you from opening the account after check is done. It's not fair if they disallowed it.

  • Well I am 40% on the way to my goal thanks to the $100 - guess I was one of the 100. Anyone else like to contribute??

    Ah the power of Ozbargain

  • Can someone post a link to the form that needs to be filled? I accidentally closed the page without downloading the form.

    EDIT: Never mind, form found.

  • where can you check if you have received it ($100) ?
i can't seem to find anywhere.
if you have completed till Step 8, then your profile is active.
however, when i check it, it doesn't seem to show anywhere.

    • Try to "nominate a Savings Goal"?

    • Check the savings goal you have created - Should have $100 sitting in there already

      • yeah i did… nominate saving goal. but $100 is not there, instead $10 is sitting pending (DD)

        • You may need to claim your bonus on the profile tab after setting up the savings goal.

          • @juss: thanks
apparantly, need to logout, login, solved the problem. it will says"unclaimed campaign reward"

            • @11CENTS: This is good. Means for the people who signed up and have to verify there account most likely will get the $100 once their account is verified.

    no deal

    • Negative vote revoked - please refer to the voting guidelines.

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

Specifically, when voting negative, which is in itself is fine, you need to provide some logical reasoning. That way others can assess why you have voted that way.

While "no deal" might be cute for Andrew O'Keefe it doesn't give back to this community.

As mods we are cracking down on votes without a clear reason again read the guidelines to understand why

      • Please do the same for positive votes.

        • -1

Please do the same for all of YesPleaseThankYou's comments knocking recent freebies.

        • +1

What is your problem YPTY there is a forum is you want to get on your hobby horse, but maybe submita deal first rather than criticize everyone else BTW did you read the voting guidelines? or is that too much trouble?

    Thanks Roadtrip24

    I got in.

  • My account got auto vertified. How do you withdraw the money?

  • Yes I got email today saying it's verified, so I dont need to go and get the form signed. W00t free money.

I dont know about how you withdraw the money, maybe when you have reached your goal?

I'm 40% on my way! lol

    • You can close your account anytime according to what I read. You then just send the money back to your nominated account. I am going to let mine sit there until I reach my goal and then grab the lot.

  • ok From the FAQ:

"25. What happens when I reach my goal?

Once you have met your savings goal, your automatic monthly contribution will stop but your funds will continue to earn interest until you manually close your goal and redeem your funds. "

  • Did everyone have to do the mandatory $10 deposit and has anyone's cleared yet?

    • Think so. It's the min required to open an account?

  • is this still avaliable?

  • im guessing not

    • Good guess considering the Expired tag in front of the post heading LOL

      • yes i realised after 30min :P

  • Thank you, mine cleared today after posting details to smartypig for verification. Created saving goal then accepted $100.00 payment. Sweet!
