  • What's the minimum spend required?

  • I believe it applies to all TPG broadband plans.

    • Cheaper signing up on tpg website..

  • -2

    Nbn?

    • National Broadband Network …. So yes one would assume right?

  • Not too bad, but all plans come with a $59.95 connection fee and six month contract…

So it is really a $40 bonus when signing a six month contract with TPG. Or $6.67/month discount for the first six months.

    • Where are you seeing this? Looking at the Max Unlimited plan (ADSL2+ only / Unlimited) I see either 12 months with $60 connection or $0 connection with 18 months which I believe is what TPG offers through their site.

Unless I'm missing something, this seems like a great deal and I'll probably be moving back to TPG from Internode. Keep in mind if you're in an apartment you'll be needing to get an electrician in as well (~$50).

  • It would appear to be all broadband plans including nbn although couldn't be 100% as mine was ADSL2+ but doesn't appear to exclude any.

The plans on your link are way more expensive than if you go via the tpg website.

    • -1

Which ones? I see the same prices.

      • +3

The one of the front page for starters…

        http://goo.gl/J1GD6m

ADSL2+ bundle including phone rental and UNLIMITED data for $59.99

      • +2
        Another example
TPG ADSL2+ with Home Phone Line Rental Eighty Eight Bundle

cost $88 per month for unlimited data and unlimited phone calls, 24 months contract, minimum spend $2,221.95.

The referral's offer cost you $154.99 per month for the same plan, 24 months contract, minimum spend $3,799.71 - $100 cash back.

        • Both of these seem to match up on pricing (unless maybe there's an additional line rental that's not listed?):

          http://www.internetchoice.com.au/bb_plan/TPG/Max+Unlimited

          http://tpg.com.au/products_services/adsl2-standalone

My understanding is both of these should be inclusive of line rental?

          Or am I incorrect?

        • +2

          @RedSky:

The plans you referred to, the bundled checkbox is "No",

in my understanding, the plans you referred to do not include line rental.

        • There's something weird with the Internet Choice calculations. Using O O's referral offer as an example, look at the bottom right blue box with the break down of the costs. The Monthly Fees Over Contract box calculates as "( $79.99 + $75.00 ) x 24 months contract". Where is that $75.00 per month coming from? I don't see it explained anywhere on that page. This is the same for other plans I selected at random.

Or does it mean Internet Choice are making 100% commission per month on their referrals. LOL.

        • @MiniMoo:

          I think it's mean $79.99 ADSL2+ data plan + $75 line rental.

        • @O O:

Perhaps it is line rental - they should state what it is rather than having us guess.

The thing is on TPG that $79.99 includes phone line rental and unlimited calls. So these may be pricing errors by IC? Perhaps IC doesn't understand TPG's plans? :)

    I smell a dirty sock

  • There appears to be a typo or an issue with their maths on the bundled plans but hopefully that would sort itself out in the sign-up process…

  • +2

Much cheaper direct even with $100 discount. No deal

  • +7

Did a comparison because I wanted to know for sure.. This is before any $100 cashback. There are many that are just crap deals altogether. Some are actually the same price and whether I guess you want to deal with a third party is up to you. One deal stood out and may or may not be a price error.

This NBN bundle from IC: http://www.internetchoice.com.au/bb_plan/TPG/NBN+High+Speed+…
Vs this NBN bundle from TPG: https://www.tpg.com.au/nbn (Look for the 500GB 100/40 Plan, Those two seem to match, however IC says they offer unlimited data)

  • not a deal, a scam…

  • No home phone bundle with ADSL2+ plan?

  • +1

I have been with tpg for at least 5 years and was paying $59.99 for unlimited ADSL2 which was a great deal.
Being a bargain hunter though and always look for better deals, I rang them to tell them I was thinking of leaving as I was out of contract. They dropped my ADSL price to $49.99/month. They tried to convince me to change my home line from Telstra to them but since everything was working fine with my home line connection with I was worried that if I changed it to tpg that speeds may drop as I wasn't sure of infrastructure and my son said not to.

Anyway the point I wanted to make was that there are many things they don't advertise as available on their website. If I hadn't made the call I would never have gotten a better deal. Although customer service is pretty terrible in getting through with wait times, if you can be bothered, they may want to retain you as a customer and you can try to negotiate a better deal. It never hurts to haggle. You have nothing to lose except time on bloody phone!

I have rarely had a problem with tpg and only on a handful of occasions over the years my son has had lag on a few of his games. And occasionally youtube lags though this is also rare. I am further out from the exchange also so this can sometimes affect speeds. My son is happy with speeds so that's all I care about. When there is lag he resets the channels on the modem and it seems to fix the issues most of the time.

I am fairly new to ozbargain so sorry if any of this is technically inaccurate. I got that information from my son. But I was hoping that if other Ozbargainers haggled that seem to be getting decent speeds etc and are out of contract they may be able to get a better deal.
