Been using this for few years.
    Like
    1. One water inlet only - cold. The machine will heat up the water.
    2. Quick cycle - 50 minutes.
    3. Water efficient.
    4. Less laundry liquid as front loader.
    5. Relatively quiet.
    6. Simple to use.

      Dislikes (EWF 1074 model):
My 50min Quick Cycle takes almost 90mins.
When the display says 0.01 there are actually 13 minutes to go.
Maybe it saves on water but it doesn't save on electricity.
Smashes towels on anything other than the lowest speed.
Quality of wash is poor on a full load.
I'll be going straight back to a top loader when this one dies. Cop that impending El Nino!

      • I was about to buy this model, but I ended up with a Fisher & Paykel Quicksmart instead. Judging from your comments I think I made the right choice…

        • @spk:

          That's the one

        • @nytrojen: How much did you buy it for?
If bought from Masters, do they do the setup when delivered ?

Question in regards to the above model, does F&P model have the ability to adjust time settings after a wash program is selected?

I've noticed that Electrolux has a Quick wash(15 min), and you still have the ability to adjust timings based on your need.

        • @spk:

I bought mine for $680 from JB. So the Masters deal is super awesome.

No idea about setup from Masters. I paid JB $65 to setup my fridge and washing machine for me (plus lug them up the stairs)

I haven't tried adjusting the timings on any wash cycles yet. I'll try it tonight and let you know. The Quick wash on the F&P is default at 30min

        • @nytrojen: Thanks mate.

My quick cycle runs accurately on my machine. However, I have the above problem on a normal wash. I think this is a problem with the machine. Regardless I have found settings that give me a good quick and very clean wash.

Despite the problems I would highly recommend this machine.

I also have a top loader, and the top loader completely destroys my clothes, where as the front loader is excellent on them.

      • wait till you try the 'new' top loaders….just pure evil! Changes made to save water.

  • +1

1.I prefer two water inlets. Cheaper if you have gas water heater.
    2. 50 mins? Too long for me.
    4. Than a top loader I think that is what you wanted to say.

    • The Fisher & Paykel front loaders have hot water inlets as well - one of the main reasons I bought one, since my rental place has solar hot water.

  • Thanks. Looking for a washing machine :)

I bought an Electrolux a few years ago, never again. Rear bearings fail, pipes burst, vibrates like a b!*#h on spin, been dismantled and "fixed" twice. EWF1083, I don't believe the new ones are much different inside.

    • +1

Yep, me too. Two motors burnt-out in 3 years, at the second dumped it and got a Bosch instead. Electrolux was cheaper up-front, but paying an extra ~$200/each for new motors makes it quite expensive.

Electrolux are terrible washing machines. Had mine for about four years now. In that time it's been replaced completely twice, had to have service technician out about six times. Latest replacement is starting to fail again the same way the other two did. Door close sensor fails, heating element is temperamental, goes off balance easily. The major downside of the off balance is that it doesn't shut off when it does. Machine ends up "walking" Kind of scary as frontloaders are weighted to stop them flipping. Mine is 80kg+. Had parts inside disconnect and ended up putting fist sized dents in the walls of the unit.
Will be buying a different brand once this ones warranty runs out and it fails again.
It does wash really well while it works.

    • We had a different model, similar problems, and no sympathy from Electrolux. I pointed out that the bearings were a common failure and sent them links to the masses of complaints about them. They couldn't care less. I personally won't be buying Electrolux appliances as a result.

  • However, if you really want one, two flex pipes are a brass T piece from bunnings plumbing section and you've got hot and cold water inlets. Didn't see the point in paying for the machine to heat the water when I've got off-peak HWS doing that already.

  • I got one of these last year in August for $589 delivered from masters.
Quickest cycle is 18 minutes + 2mins as the lcd timer isn't that accurate @ 1000rpm, add +10-15mins for 1400rpm spin cycle to have the items drier over the quick cycle.

I don't know what you guys are washing and how soiled.
But I can't tell the difference between 75mins, 90 mins+ cycles over the quick 18mins cycle. And on cloudy days the extra spin cycle + 15mins. Towels, sheets, clothes seem fairly good, just need to shake the creases out.
The sun does the job of taking out a few more creases and airing out the items.
And there is noticeable drop in the water bill.

  • Which one do you guys recommend of these three

I would buy the Bosch any day of the week. Fischer & Paykel is also pretty good. You shouldn't go wrong with either one.

    • +1

      Bosch

    • Have a read at productreview as I was looking at buying a bosh since I was very happy with the dishwasher I had, but the cheaper models don't get good reviews, so I went for F&P

  • Electrolux are the worst washing machines in the world. I had mine for 2 years and then it completely died. Used it roughly once every 2 weeks. So I got about 50 washes out of a $600 washing machine. After it died, I read reviews of the same washer and everyone had the same problem! Being out of warranty, I went out and bought a Bosch. Haven had a problem since!

  • bought a bosch was28461au last year with 150 water rebate.
    15min/30min quick cycles
    quiet motor (wash & spin)
I'd stay away from electrolux and F&P
    LG, SAMSUNG, BOSCH are good!

  • Have had two electroluxes. First was a solid unit but noisy on spin. Had a motor die under extended warranty which was replaced but we managed to unhook the water seal accidently and getting it fixed was gonna cost $90 for an almost 4 year old unit so we decided to replace it. Bought the above mentioned unit for $516 during eBay's 20% off sale(plus $12 cashrewards rebate). New unit is great. Pretty much silent and heaps more presets. Wife is happy with it. Pretty good for just over $500.

    • which store on eBay did you buy it from ?

      • Good Guys. Was $645 before the 20% off. We usually luck out on these deals when we need to buy things. We were just lucky on this one. PLus we could pickup so saved on delivery.

  • I bought this from eBay, got it delivered for about $520 on the 20% discount & 2,5 cash rewards. I like it, it's a Thailand built one tho.

I recon Haier is the best

  • I work for a major appliance distributor doing installs. It amazes me how many electrolux washing machines that look brand spanking new we turf every week when installing a new machine. Not sure about the new models still to early to tell. Seems like they have planned obsolescence down to a fine art. Having said that do not expect more than 5 years from anything sub $1000. If you want a machine that will last go the commercial jobs like speedqueen. Really heavy and solid. Thanks electrolux for keeping me employed : )

  • well I noticed there is a special term,
    Important:

Cashback is not payable on Gift Cards.
so how did you combine those two discounts?
    thanks :)

    • buy Giftcards via Cashrewards/Pricepal/Entertainment book and buy the product by logging in to Cashrewards for your cashback

      • so it doesn't matter if I use ewish giftcard to pay at checkout?
I still get 3.5% cashback later?

Wow, I'm amazed at the comments on Electrolux! I've owned an Electrolux vacuum cleaner, drier and front loader, all have been excellent. Agree with the issues regarding the actual wash times being different from the time reported on the LCD.
Certainly not disputing poor quality, I think I've just been very lucky.
We use our washer on average once a day, for last three years, makes me very nervous reading all the issues!! Haven't had a single problem with it. Can't remember the model, will check when I get home.

My Electrolux front loader was purchased 10 years ago, used around once every 2nd day and is still working today.
I must be the only one.

    • I read about this. The old Electrolux washers are great! Strong build and good quality parts. They changed suppliers of some of the parts for the new washers which is why so many are failing.

  • Just got the 8kg model today from Harvey Norman for $760. Used Amex to get an extra year warranty.

    • all Amex cards cards provide an extra year warranty?
I have the right Qantas one, with no annual fee. Will that be of any help ??
