Mod 7/10/15: Due to an increasing number of issues with GearBest, we have today banned the store from all deal posts (both rep and non rep) on OzBargain.

A member contacted us last week to express their concerns about the store; in relation to this and other threads. It appears quite clear that the majority of members feel it would no longer be beneficial to have these posts on OzBargain. The ban will be an indefinite one, we may review it if we see a significant improvement and will be monitoring this and other threads for evidence of that.

        It's hilarious because right now, still on the item page, if you click on the "shipping and payment" tab it is still saying 5-11 business days to Australia with the free shipping option. Yet when you challenge them, it grows to 10-25 days (which it has next to Brazil). And then when it's still not here, they ask you to wait an ADDITIONAL 45 days (I guess they didn't get the paypal memo about paypal extending the claim window well past 45 days now).

        And then none of that even explains why it took over a month to be marked as 'shipped' in the first place.

    I will say i have had a bit of the laugh with some of these comments. For a while I just kept putting off opening a PayPal dispute but just opened one then. Nearly 2 months is ridiculous!

      • nah, could be a delay due to china post. bought another item from a random seller on ebay and that hasn't turned up either. Don't know what's taking so long. i'll give em a couple more weeks

    gotta love amazon, free shpping, as spend over 150 bucks, ordered last night, items being sent today, and expect it to arrive on oct 9th. Gearbest, it wouldn't have even been sent on the 9th of october

    • This happend to me. Just don't do anything and PayPal will eventually review it. I think it's purposely confusing by PayPal so people close their claims.

  • Is the tracking that they provide to paypal the same as the one when they ship the order and viewable in your order history on their website? That tracking is absolutely useless and not recognized on any system

    PayPal has now resolved the claim in my favour. I am guessing everyone will be getting their money back. Never again buying from GearBest. Although they stated that I didn't get a tracking number they were able to give PayPal a tracking number, I find this amusing…

          sell an item you have no intention of delivering and just keep the money knowing that PP cant/wont get the money back out of you.

          wonder if this is some dodgy chinese law that stops PP from taking money back away from these companies?

    Waiting for PayPal to finalise my escalation.

    I'm surprised Gearbest conducts business in this manner.

    The considerate thing would have been to apologise to your customers for not notifying them that there item was not in stock in the first place and for failing to have the item delivered.

    A good will credit and resending the item would have gone a long way with most customers returning back for more business and recommending your products to friends and family.

    Instead you have decided to burn your customers by advising them that it's not your fault that they didn't pay the extra cash for tracking details.

    This has left your customers with no choice but taking action against your company with PayPal and leaving everyone with a very negative outlook of your organisation.

    Not the way I would conduct my business.

    • Yeah they're dodgy. A brief summary of one part of my interactions with their customer service:

      Me: hey it's been over a month and hasn't shipped. How about a free upgrade to express shipping as an apology and ship it now?
      Five minutes later: automatic email stating it's been shipped
      Customer service: sorry we can't do that as it's already shipped.

  • PayPal footed the bill for me too, due to the "unique situation". I have no idea why they wouldn't just tell GearBest to (profanity) off, the situation is hardly unique.The ironic thing about this is PayPal will freeze charity accounts for no reason and withhold funds from small operators the moment a buyer complains, but then cover GearWorst out of the goodness of their hearts.

    Definitely agree with djones145.

    This needs more exposure and the mods at ozbargain need to take some action.

    85 people that we know of haven't received their package after placing the order three months ago. It's very likely that they never sent the packages out as they never received the stock. That's called fraud and if that is the case it's very troubling that PayPal is letting them off the hook and the company is free to post deals on this very site.
