Are they alkaline, lithium or a chemistry with less capacity?
If not alkaline or lithium, I think an extra buck fifty for a name brand Alkaline is worth it for something important like a smoke alarm.
Was interested in knowing this too, so I called Battery World Fawkner (Vic).
Cheapest 9v battery they have is $1.50 for carbon zinc. Cheapest alkaline is $3.95. May be different at other BW outlets.
Which makes this Energizer 4 pack a fantastic deal.
My local one (Warrnambool) has it still.

$1 Promo is usually around start of April - smoke detector battery replacement day is April 1. Batteries barely lasted 1 year with no alarm activated.
Kmart sells 6 pack "heavy duty" for $5.

I can confirm the one I bought today has an expiry of 12-2019 printed on it and a 01-2014 on the bottom which I assume is the manufacturing date.
How long are these good for in storage? If I only use one every year or so is it still worth getting the 4-pack? or would I be better off buying single alkalines yearly?

Placed the order, got paypal email but no DS order confirmation. Do not know why.
Usual dicking around. I've put in a complaint about it when placing a larger order. Confirmation never came. New store phone wasn't connected to be able to check, but account showed available for pickup.
I got the pick up email and SMS just now without the order confirmation email.
Store organised those - the ones I rarely receive from DS or HN. Strange the confirmation email wasn't received. Oh well, all good.
As the batteries won't be used until next year (for smoke detector), I'm not worried when I receive mine. I've got a few $10 gift cards after complaining in the past.
