Another great use of the 15% sale is a computer system. Bought mine from the sale last year and was very happy with the service and quality (and PC Byte have obviously since had good rep around here)

With system packages being so close in price to MSY parts prices, 15% off that makes it a good time to buy!

So here's a package I selected out of the ones available for bang-for-buck:

  • Intel Core i5 4460 3.2GHz
  • 8GB 1600MHz Ram
  • Intel H81 Chipset motherboard
  • 1TB Sata3 HDD
  • 24x Dual Layer DVD Burner
  • 550W PS
  • T100 Case

Note also the upgrades available, all also @ 15% off (as separate Ebay listings)

  • I wasn't aware there was an I4. Please fix the typo in the title.

Pretty good deal, prices for cheapest versions of these parts @ MSY:

    Intel i5 4450 - $269
    8GB DDR3 - $62
    H81 Mobo - $69
    1TB 7200RPM - $68
    DVDRW - $18
    550W PSU - $55
    mATX case - $35

    Total: $576

Cheers for doing that research :)

    • I take it this doesn't include a discrete gfx card.

      550W PSU - $55

I'd expect this one to have a cheaper generic PSU

yeah - no mention of brand.

        Kaboom!

      • The one piece you should NEVER cheap out on.

        • Well that's not really true. You don't need a 1000w PSU for a single gpu. 550 is probably cutting it low but it's not something you should be spending your budget on.

        • @kaneissik: Can confirm, cheaped out on 500w inbuilt case PSU 4 years ago, running an R9 270X atm with no issues. Touch wood, but I think if anything is going to die it will be the PSU, lol. I have a strange feeling it's using like 99% of available power.

        • @kaneissik:
Wattage isn't equivalent to quality though. I'm talking about paying a bit more for a reputable brand that you can trust not to fry your components.

        • @Carnal:

Even if that's the case, you're not going to be spending much more. PSUs are cheap these days as long as you're getting something reasonable.

With enough interest we could maybe twist their arm to do some branded stuff like last year :)

        • Maybe shoot Francesca a PM :P
I think they're still recovering from last year, as I haven't seen them post a PC sale ever since.
That was a massive sale. I got one too and vouch for these guys.

  • Can you include in the title that it has integrated graphics? The system is being labeled as a "gaming" machine, stating the GPU is more important than how large the HDD is.
