Wouldn't really call it a 'gaming' system with 4gb ram…

    Actually it's strange… i3 and 4gb ram, but a $219 gpu? Odd combo

    • +1

yeah, this is more like a regular PC rather than a gaming system OP, don't take me wrong, GTX950 is 'decent' but as Spackbace pointed out, with 4GB ram, and the i3 processor, it's safe to say this won't be running new titles out of the shelf!

      • Always trade-offs at the low end. I've added an i5 system as well. :)

        • Before discount, $250 more than this deal for a $219 video card?
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/212958

        • +3

@Spackbace: For start for $31 you get a decent case, power supply and 2 year warranty. We specify every component - not generic names where you could get almost anything supplied.

        • @PLE Computers:

Only thing generic is the case and ps, though working to negotiate that to make it better.
But that's fine, if you can't do yours for the same price but they can then good luck to you lol

        • @PLE Computers:

Oh and pc byte already include express post at no extra cost

        • +9

@Spackbace: You guys drive hard bargains, dropped both by $50. Hope this gets it over the line as bargain now. :)

          @PLE Computers:

          If I can make another suggestion… :)

Strip the GPU out of the deals, and make it a separate listing. For the buyer, that maximises the 15% off.

So if it was $789 including a $219 GPU, your discounted price now is $689

          However if it was $570 plus $219 GPU (separate), end result is $484.50 + $186.15 = $670.65

Buyer saves $18.35, and might be more likely to add a few extras on to either purchase (ie ram upgrades etc)

    • It's a cheap gaming system…

What's strange about that combo? Gpu is the usually the bottleneck for games.

Bear in mind assembly from MSY will only have a one year "warranty" (on the actual workmanship) but individual parts which you purchase may obviously offer a longer warranty. PLE are offering a two year warranty on their workmanship. Remember if you are buying interstate there will be time and cost in claiming warranty support if any hardware does go kaput.

Pretty average pricing here, obviously the main draw card is the 15% off that eBay is offering.

    • And delivery - delivery of a system can be $50 by itself :)

      • Yes and delivery. Haven't priced anything up for a while so I'm a bit rusty. :P

Conversely - buy locally and save on delivery (and any potential warranty headaches). Worth sussing out if PLE is your local I suppose.

    • Your SSD price is wrong in the second one Workaround?

      • Good catch - second system actually comes with a 1TB WD Blue hard drive. I changed the price but forgot to adjust the part name (the total is still correct though).

As are most of the ebay deals posted recently.

Do MSY even assemble computers anymore? Thanks for the alternatives but both of those options involve driving to 3 stores.

      • As are most of the ebay deals posted recently.

Yep but that's just the nature of the game I guess. Businesses need to make money and consumers want to save money. :P

Do MSY even assemble computers anymore? Thanks for the alternatives but both of those options involve driving to 3 stores.

Last I heard, yes although it's not on their price list anymore. There's always someone expecting a personalised PC building service at MSY for some reason, especially when I'm behind them and know exactly what I want. :P

No need to drive around to three stores if you can substitute a few parts and grab it all from one store. The price is there just for comparison and for stuff which MSY doesn't stock I've staticICE'd the best price from a reliable store (no GreenBoxIT) to try and get a enable a more accurate comparison.

That being said, the most difficult things to substitute at another (non-eBay) store would be (1) the 15% eBay coupon and (2) the price/performance of the FSP Raider 450W 80+ Silver PSU.

  • Can the gfx card be upgraded? Cannot see an option for this.

    • Sorry that is one area I cannot change.

      • +1

no worries, thanks for letting me know.

  • Is this listing likely to last for at least 48 hours?

  • Can you give someone who doesn't really know what they are looking at the main differences between that and this:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/ulk/itm/271992284000

    • This is quite a bit better value for money.

Nothing about that Lenovo is better except for the DVD Burner, which exists in that but does not in this.

Edit: This will be quite a lot bigger though.

    • This package notably comes with a separate dedicated graphics card, an SSD and a slightly higher clocked processor while the Lenovo comes with Windows preinstalled.

  • Hi Op, im seriously thinking about getting the alternative system.

I live about 10 mins from PLE Wanneroo, is it possible to do a pick up rather than delivery?
and as far as warranties go, if something does go wrong do i just return it to an actual ple store or do i have to send it via mail or w/e.

    Thanks.

    • This is a promotion from our Melbourne store so your computer would be built and dispatched from Melbourne.

Any ongoing warranty you're more than welcome to bring it back to any one of our stores :)

  • Thanks PLE for this deal, any possibility of an ITX mini version of this?

    • would like to know this too

  • Hi. Strongly considering the i5. Wondering if there's any issue with buying Windows in a separate transaction, to take advantage of a second 15% off? If it's one transaction it caps at $100.

Also wondering if there's any chance of getting the SSD in the i5, like in the i3, or is the only option to add it as an addition? Would rather the SSD, and I don't really need the HDD as well.

    Thanks.
