Why did you link to a picture, rather than your website?

    • +1

I'd say it's because there is waaaaaayyyy too much going on when you visit their homepage :\

      • +1

Poor use of a video background

        • Thanks for the feedback, the business is in its early stages, could you recommend a way to make it more appealing?

        • +1

@Uboard: Make video darker to improve contrast, shoot a video that is more relevant to the product, or just have a static background?

        • Thanks! we are in the process of making a video, I will be sure to update within a week or so

  • Are these legal in Australia? @_@

      • they are legal thanks

        • which jurisdictions?

Yeah seems NSW is probably a 'no'. Wondering about the legalities of electric skateboards anywhere else, though the board I'm looking at could 'pass' for a regular skateboard so I doubt anyone will notice. Unless I go up a hill. ;)

        • +2

"You are not allowed to use motorised skateboards, roller skates or roller blades on public roads, footpaths or nature strips. But, you can use these on private property."

I think my google-fu is weak - anything relevant in SA? I have the feeling I'll be using mine in manual mode a lot. :P

  • $699 RRP

    • Way too much. We had a deal the other day at $280.
I've read that they have sold for $89 USD.
These aren't made by 1 company so the ones without licensing are fairly cheap and there's lots of competition.
      Neg for ridiculous cost.

      • I appreciate the feedback, the supplier we use is more expensive than others, however the quality has proven to be much better and more reliable. Our product is aimed towards users who would rather pay a little extra for a stronger and better built unit

        • Can you do a better deal for OzBargain since you've claimed to be the cheapest on the market? ;)

          From your Facebook page:

People are having a hard time believing just how cheap the UBoard is, similar products are being sold worldwide from anywhere from $1000 - $2000.
You can get a UBoard for more than half that price on http://www.uboard.com.au. But paying more means better quality right? In this case its quite the opposite,
We are the only provider that actually perform Q/A tests in Australia, regularly communicates and meets with the supplying line. Not to mention our team has traveled the world, testing more than half a dozen variations to be sure that this product is the absolute best on the market.
So Why is a UBoard the cheapest on the market? Well, a better question might be to ask other suppliers why they are selling this product for anymore than it needs to be sold at!

        • On the date that post was made, we were one of the cheapest on the market. Some competitors are still selling it for more, however we are aware that some on gumtree etc are selling the product at cheaper prices. We will look to continually improve the price. with the discount you can purchase the product for $594.

If anyone is aware of any businesses selling the product cheaper please feel free to link them.

  • I cant find the specs anywhere on the website?

    • Don't worry, apparently they have been to China.

      • Yes we were at the canton fair in may, when the product launched. the specs are listed in the purchase screen and in the instruction manual, will be sure to update the page to be more informative thanks

  • Do your company have any public liability insurance on these things because my friend said its quite unsafe if you use on the road when the battery dies it can throw you off maybe getting hit by a car etc. he imported a few costing around 300aud but no insurance company is taking the risk on this product so far

    • We are in the process of obtaining all relevant insurances. Our product is not meant for roads and only for indoor use

      • only for indoor use

Reminds me of those mountain bikes that should not be taken off road

        • very clever

  • How do you know the other resellers have not "been to China and met several manufacturers and pinpointed the best variation"?

    • Well I don't know that, however logic and basis of the market I have been involved in for 6 months would tell me that most would not have visited the supplier

    • +1

The 6 months is way misleading. The domain was only registered on August 16.

      • -1

so because I only registered a domain 2 months ago, its impossible to not have further experience. You do realise businesses did trade and start up before domain names.

  • +1

These look exactly the same as the ones going for 2-300 on eBay.

    • Yes correct, feel free to purchase from these suppliers

      • No thank you. Even they are making pretty good margins. I just had a quick convo to my sourcing guy and he can get the base model of that for 180AUD landed after taxes and port charges.

This is a pretty bad ripoff when you haven't even included all the extras that are available such as bluetooth, remote. For anyone curious each extra costs about 5USD, also dodgy as how no specifications are listed.

        • LOL 180AUD, specs are listed when purchasing

        • Tell your sourcing guy I'll buy one for $181. Instant profit.

        • @TightBottom:

haha I would need to bring in half a container of these. However I can get an airfreighted one for you for 280/300 if you want. Not really interested in selling this item though tbh.

        • why don't you post a link where we can all buy them for $181, I'll buy 50 right now!

you do realise that when you go to the supermarket to buy an apple, the retailer did not buy them for the same price as the consumer right? and that there are different kinds of apples that do range in cost based on quality etc

        • @Uboard:

Yes I think you are either:
          1. Getting ripped off
          2. Going through an exporter in China
          3. Not getting enough quantity and getting them air freighted over

        • +1

          @Uboard:

Not with these products… you must be pretty new to importing if you truly believe that. I bet they told you to choose between the LG or the Samsung battery to.

If you would like I can wholesale them to you for 280.

        • -1

so you are not a consumer, just a disgruntled competitor. you just mentioned $180, why are they now $280??

        • @Uboard:

Definitely not disgruntled nor a competitor. Just putting value on my time. I am still offering you a saving.

  • What happens if it breaks?

    • +2

we have a 1 year warranty. However if the unit is broken as a result of misuse (notable damage) we can fix the unit at a small cost

  • +2

I hope you have a backup business idea…

    • thanks for your concern, but until they stop selling I will continue

      • +2

        how many have you sold?

        • I'm looking for a sales rep in NSW, maybe you are interested in that
