Beware of Fakes with poor battery life.

  • +1

    Ordered one, thanks OP.

  • ordered one with Piston 3!! About 20 mins ago and received email for tracking already. Thanks OP

  • Last month Allbuy.com was selling it for $22.47 for almost whole month

  • +1

keen on a combo deal for either the 10,000mah or 16,000mah xiaomi battery + a pair of piston 3s :D

    is cheaper than the mushtato

    • Waiting for weeks and dealing with GB in case of any issues is not worth ~$AUD7.70 for me. It would cost you double that just to post it back to China.

Don't get me wrong, if you could get it for ~$AUD15 (like you could when $AUD was better at the start of the year), then of course, massive saving at half price. But $29.95 vs ~$22.25 - I know which one I would buy.
And I'm speaking from personal experience with Mushtato = thumbs up!

      • Cheers, it's always good to deal with local business. As least you know there's someone to talk to :)

  • I got one, used it once not my thing putting up in classifieds

    • not my thing

      Lol what were you expecting?

      • I have a nice watch on most times so feels weord without it.

        • Ahh fair enough, I thought you were talking about the powerbank haha

  • How accurate is this thing for steps?

Are there any accurate pedometers out there?

    • +1

It is pretty accurate. It's distance estimates are very close to actual distance walked when comparing to Google maps.
But does that really matter? In my opinion it's consistency of measurements that really makes the difference. If your daily target is say 11,000 steps, and Miband consistently measures the same amount of steps for the same exercise, then it's doing the job. It lets you compare how you are doing - ie exercising more, same or less. How that translates to actual number of steps or distances is irrelevant. Even if you could guarantee 100% accuracy in step number, that means nothing in terms of calorie burn as all people are different, and it can only be accurately measured with HR monitor.

I find that sleep monitoring is also quite accurate (at least for fall a sleep/wake up times). As for sleep stages - that's some pretty good guess work - but hey, I can't really prove it right or wrong ;) What I like is that I can actually check when I fell a sleep last night, on weekend when I got back from pub or even on particular day few months ago :)

For me it's worth it even just for silent alarm (I wake up 1.5 hours before my wife to go to work) + call and SMS notifications (keeping phone on silent in pocket - or wife's bag for hers).
Battery life is unbeatable with minimum 30+ days with notification and alarm on.

I better stop here - looks like I'm trying to sell this thing ;) I'm just a happy user and in no way into fitness (I don't run or go to gym, but I'm generally fairly active). I love gadgets and this is a cool one that won't break the bank.

      • thanks for sharing and all the information

  • holy sh*t
the retail price of this band in China is only 89 YUAN, less than 20 AUD
I'll definitely not buy this here.

  • I used one for about a month before it fell out of the band and got lost.

In hindsight I'm glad I lost it - I bought an LG G Watch instead and absolutely love it. Was only $65 more and has 100x the functionality.

The deal is over, the price is now 34.95

For android users, here is a fantastic open source application to manage your device: https://github.com/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge
Actively developed and works really well.
Does not require registration like the official app. I would advice people to not even install the official app and go straight to using this.

  • I already got mine and am having trouble installing the official app. Has anybody had similar problems? I've already tried using TunnelBear and setting location to Japan. That has not worked for me. I still keep getting sign-in errors. Error 96013. Why is it even geoblocked anyway?

  • +1

Can not pair it with my phone, it says mi band not found.

    • Is your phone using Bluetooth v4.0?
If not, it won't be able to communicate with MiBand.
Also, please pair it with your phone using Xiaomi app only.
There are lots of video review/walkthrough on Youtube that can show you how to set it up step by step.
      Here is an example:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4ucikzAr10

      Hope these information helps :)

      • I am unable to install the official app. It keeps returning error 96013 on sign-in.

      • Yes the phone is Bluetooth 4. Am using official app. But mi band does not show up when scanning.

        • So much so for paying more to buy from a local company for local warranty, mine is a DOA, I have to send it to them at my own cost (luckily Paypal has free return). My experience with buying on eBay from China has most of the time they just refund me the money.

Anyway it's reasonable to return the DOA unit to Mushtato, I am just saying I get better customer service and cheaper buying on eBay from China. I bought from Geekbuying before and had to return at my own cost and they sent a replacement to me at their cost. So basically the same.

Not sure paying more to buy local is worth it.

        • Epic fail, I forgot to take a photo of the parcel before sending. Wasted another $7.45.

        • @kampua: Thank you for sending the item back to us.
Xiaomi has high quality control standard.
According to our record, the defective rate for this item is less than 0.4%.
We apologize that you might have received an faulty item.
Our technician will examine it as soon as it arrives.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

You are covered by 12 months local warranty for your purchase.
Unlike oversea sellers, 180 days after your purchase while PayPal no longer protects you, we still honor warranty for another 6 months.
Just curious, has anyone successfully claimed warranty 6 months after their purchase from any oversea sellers?
Please feel free to share your experience here or on our Facebook page:
          www.facebook.com/Mushtato.com.au

          Correction: 180 days/6 months

        • PayPal now cover 180 days I believe.

        • @kampua: Correction: 180 days for credit/debit card with PayPal
          Was 90 days before :)

        • @mushtato:
I don't understand why should customer pay for return shipping of a DOA item? Normally any reputed sellers either send a return shipping label or refund the shipping costs once they test and confirm that the item is DOA.

If Xiaomi's quality control standard is as good as you mentioned why should I be bothered about warranty and pay double the price to a local retailer? If it is just for fast shipping I think it's worth waiting for a month than paying double the price.

        • @rvsure:
I agree most reputable seller cover return shipping from my experience.

        • @kampua: Companies like Apple, they sell iPhone for 999.00 while the manufacturing cost is only 250.00
JB Hi-Fi or similar retailers also have 200~500% mark up. (we know exactly who the manufacturers are and the cost)
Unlike those big companies, we don't have that huge margin.
From another point of view, if we do what they did, we will be able to cover all shipping and repair/replacement cost.
But this item will be at least 59.95
Don't think any of our customers will buy it.
          Will you? :\

        • @mushtato:
I am not talking about Apple or Samsung.I bought Galaxy S4 from Kogan couple of years back and it was DOA. Kogan sent me return shipping labels to post the item and refunded me full amount.

I used to work as an IT contractor for an Australian auctions company, they provide free return shipping even on clearance goods for the entire warranty period not just for DOA. I got a TV for $40 in their auction and it was DOA and they sent me return shipping labels and posted another item at their own expense.

I am not saying every company should have the same rules but it does make a difference for the customers.

        • @rvsure: Thank you for your kind suggestions.
          We'll look into this matter.
          Cheers!

        • @mushtato:

Item returned to them with tracking no# R325921006192771

But now they are claiming they have not receive the item.

        • @kampua: Dear kampua,

As per conversation, our warehouse only opens in the evening for this week only.
It is closed and no one is there during day time.
Your return parcel was delivered on 21/10 at 10:09AM when there is no one there.
As per email, we are not the sender of this parcel, only you can contact AusPost to request a POD report and start an investigation case.
We need to know exact where this parcel was delivered to and who has signed for it.
Without your help, for security reasons, AusPost will not provide these information.
For your information, this is not the first time and won't be the last time AusPost makes a big mess up.
We need these information so that we can find out where exactly has gone wrong.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
          Looking forward for your email.

          Best Regards,

        • @mushtato:

I lodged case with Auspost and received a call back from them confirming the item has been delivered to you, they even have a signature for this. They also mentioned as the item is now delivered you as the recipient will need to contact them with the tracking number.

As for everyone else, judge for yourself if paying more to buy local is worth it. I had it easier returning stuff to Geekbuying in China.
