OzBargain Exclusive: 4.0% Cashback on eBay Sitewide @ CashRewards

7240

If you thought this was big, how about a huge 4.0% to go with the Good Guys 20% promo? In effect, you're getting 24% off your purchases, as the cashback applies to the pre-discounted amount. The offer applies to any purchase made via eBay Australia, not just Good Guys.

I'm stoked to say I was able to contact the founder & MD of CashRewards Andrew Clarke, who is one of the nicest people imaginable. I explained how we need a ripper deal to tie in with the Good Guys offer, and after a late night, we agreed on 4.0%.

Note the offer goes live at 9:00am AEDT, and the link will be updated then. Due to the overwhelming success of the deal, CashRewards has agreed to extend the offer until 11:59pm Monday Oct 19. Expiry is 11:59pm Wednesday Oct 14. Have a great day and happy shopping :)

MOD NOTE: If you are planning to post a deal mentioning this additional cashback, please state the price before any cashback is applied in the title.

Received a Tracking Receipt from Cashrewards. But the Expected Cashback amount doesn't seem to be 4%??
    Retailer: eBay Australia
    Date of Sale: 12/10/2015
    Sale Value: AUD 197.00
    Expected Cashback: AUD 4.92

    • ditto

    • My tracking receipts only show 2.5% as well, not 4%

    • Seems more like 2.5% to me.

    • Same here, based on the amount they calculated as 2.5% cash reward not 4%. Can some one please confirm?

    • Same here. Not 4%.

    • +1

Yep. Same here. I note my tracking receipt shows sale date as 12/10, when it was 13/10. That's why only 2.5%. Sneaky!

      • Ahhhhh, that is how they calculated as 2.5% instead of 4.0%

    • +1

Andrew here from Cashrewards, we have had a technical issue due to a USA time zone Issue with our system. If you got 2.5% in your tracking receipt and you bought during the 4% period this will be corrected in your account shortly. Apologies for the inconvenience. Sorry about this but eBay reports in US time and there was a mismatch which we are currently rectifying.

    • Should be all good now!

    • Thats great because i got 2.5 as well.

    • Thanks for the quick fix, my 2.5% is not 4% :-)

    • Thanks Andrew, all fixed now.

  • hmmm I guess you will be extending the offer till Friday then? :P

  • +6

Correct 4% should be showing in your cashrewards accounts now otherwise please let me know.

    • Yup. All good for me now :) Thanks.

    • Thanks Andrew, I can confirm that the correct amount is reflected in my account now.

    • corrected. cheers

    • Excellent service. Thanks.

  • how long does it usually take to get the credit in the Cashrewards account?

    • I got my confirmation after 1 business day (not including weekend).
Andrew from cashrewards said you can withdraw it after 30-45 days

First time I have used cashrewards. I made a purchase at 11am, should I see something anywhere or can it take up to 7 days like it says under 'My rewards' ?
Edit: Just read previous posts. email can also take 7 days

    • Took me one business day

    Hi AHC99,

Yesterday I bought two items but still it is not in my account. It will take 7 days time?

    Thanks,

    • The cashrewards should come in to your account within 3 days max for eBay, averages 1.5 days

        Hi AHC99,

Still I am waiting for my cashback. Nearly 48 Hours is complited..

      • +1

        Hi AHC99,

Still status not changed. I pickup TV and finish feedback in ebay also. My purchased date was 14 Oct 2015.

        Thanks,

        • Should have come through by now but sometimes there are delays. If you don't have within the week contact our customer support and let us know.

  • Took about 48 hours but it came through!

    thanks

    • Can take up to 3 days to appear in your Cashrewards balance from eBay

      • Cashrewards would have lots of activity.
Does that mean, three day, 72 hours after the purchase?
I've done two purchases on the 13/10/2015 and no email or activity in my cash rewards account.
Today is the third day, I'll wait for Monday 19/10/2015 to see if it does arrive.

I usually receive a tracking email within 1 or 2 business days of making a purchase.

Of the 45 purchases Ive made, EVERY single one has been tracked and paid.

This indicates to me that CashRewards are NOT undertaking any dodgy practice of randomly pretending they didnt receive tracking cookie and keeping the commission for themselves.

I believe in most (all?) cases where a transaction did not track, its because the purchaser failed to follow the instructions for ensuring a successful track. Unless I am just extremely lucky to get 100% success ??

Many things can cause the tracking to fail. Browser configured not to save cookies. Or a 3rd party addon (ad blocker etc) broke the tracking. Or maybe the antivirus software. Or the items had been sitting in the shopping cart or wishlist before purchasing via CR.

        • +1

          @systmworks:
Me too, usually 1 or 2 business days, sometimes a few cases a few minutes after a tracked cash rewards ebay or other store purchase.

I did install adblocker plus and updated the browser, was configured and working 23/09/2015. Nothing changed except the proxy settings.

Good explanation on the things that can cause the tracking to fail, could of been the multiple items in the cart, one paid for at a time, might of confused the tracking.

Contact AHC99 via pm or visit cashrewards.com.au

      • this is a lie, one transaction was made almost 10 days ago and it never showed up on your site, now this is second time i am experiencing this. i can provide you both transaction number to check

      • This is really frustrating with Cashrewards in general. In the past year, I've had about 150 transactions go through. I've made 4 or 5 times that many eligible purchases and I have no idea why some go through and others don't. It is not made easy to track or follow up why.

I think I have done everything right, but I don't get any notification for at least 2 days, and as long as 30 days later!

Then, pending transactions can range from 7 to 90 days, or longer (e.g. after you travel on a holiday) to come through.

If you think you have done everything right, you still have to wait 30 days before you can contact Cashrewards to enquire what has gone wrong. But you are at the mercy of the merchant if they can't be bothered to report the transaction, or they decline it, or they have a 'no enquiry policy', then you are SOL with not even an explanation. In some cases they can reverse their decision and cancel a previously successful transaction.

If you finally notice something hasn't appeared after a month or so, you only have 60 days to do something about it or you are SOL and no enquiries will be entertained.

I've spent thousands upon thousands through this program on the promise of some return. In the last 12 months I've received 4x $5 cash-outs. I really question if it is really worth all the work and thought needed to qualify with all the conditions.

        • Thats a shame. Weird you only get around 20% success.

Try my suggestions a few posts below this - especially using a clean browser you dont use for anything else and watch out for stuff already being in your cart/wishlist before you click through from CR.

It has never taken more than 3 working days (usually only 1) for me to receive a tracking email from CR after I make a purchase. I keep an eye out for them after each purchase, but 100% have come through so I have never needed to dispute with CR.

Sometimes it has taken up to ~90 days for cashbacks to be approved so I can withdraw the funds, although most are closer to 60 days.

Ive been paid (into bank account) $30, $29, $32, and $25 since Sept 2014.

My most recent purchase I've already been paid for was 26th July. $8.80 cashback from $110 purchase from Van Heusen.
My next purchase which is the oldest not yet available to cash out is from 1st September (~47 days ago). $4.55 from $76 purchase at Dan Murphys.

  • Something a bit strange going on this morning. My cashback from my eBay order on the 13th tracked and showed up in my account yesterday. Logged in this morning and the cashback amount has been removed and the tracking/history doesn't show the order anymore. Anyone else experience this?

    • Have you got the email confirmation for the transaction for your record?

  • Ordered Thursday around 1pm, still nothing in tracking yet but will give it some time..

      • +1

Tracking just came through. Took about 1.5 days as mentioned above. Thanks :-) +1

  • Damn… I signed up and went through the motions assuming I was now signed in. I followed the steps and went to Ebay via the Cashrewards link. After I purchased I returned to Cashrewards and it said "Sign In" up the top… I signed in… am I up the proverbial creek?

    • Possibly… signing up for a website does not always automatically log you in… some websites do, some dont.

Next time I recommend adding eBay (and any other stores you buy from that use CR) to your "Favourites" in the CashRewards website, and then rather than searching for the store (which you can do as a guest) just log in and go to your favourites and click through to the store from there.

      I also recommend:

      • using a web browser which is not your regular daily browser (eg I use Chrome and Firefox every day, so I reserve Internet Explorer for CashRewards purchases only)

      • clear the cache/cookies right BEFORE you log into CashRewards. That way you are starting with a clean browser and no eBay related cookies from other websites you may have visited recently.

      • ensure the products you wish to buy are not already in your eBay cart/wishlist (if so, remove them, and then add to cart once you have clicked through from CR)

      • I also click through from CashRewards favourites a second time (opens a new tab) right before I am about to buy, even though I clicked through a few minutes before, to ensure a fresh link from my CR account (and again, doing from Favs ensures you are really logged into CR)

Hope that helps next time. Its got me 100% success rate.

      • Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely be more vigilant next time. I was confused next I'm pretty sure I was taken to a page to click through to EBay after I signed up.. Anyways there's always next time!

  • So is checking out through the cart with an item already in it 100% hopeless or is there still a chance for cashrewards to have tracked it? Used internet explorer with new cookies and logins but still missed the cart bit.

    • +3

Actually my process is opposite to systmworks' above method.
I add items to my cart, then close my eBay tab and open a fresh new cashrewards and click through to eBay again to finish the purchase in a couple of clicks.
It has worked for me that way multiple times now with big purchases ($1349 fridge and $897 Dyson bundle) as well as smaller purchases.
I just make sure I turn off ad blocker first.

      • Thanks, guess I can only just wait and hope it comes through eventually, but if not then not much I can do.

      • Yeah to be honest sometimes Ive already had stuff in my cart or wishlist from my primary browser, when I log in via CR in IE, and I have still received the cashback tracking email and $.

It is only because CR suggest on their website not to, that I recommend not to and often dont myself, but occasionally I forget.

Id say odds are good johnjones8 will receive the cashback even though it was already in his cart.

        • +1

Just got the tracking receipt email saying it went through so you guys were right, thanks. This was my first big 1k+ purchase through it, so would have been a pity to miss out on the cashback unlike the smaller dollar value ones previously.

  • hmm been 6 days since my purchase , no sign of the tracking receipt or anything showing up on Cash Rewards

  • Cash rewards is not great at all. I have bought 2 TV's via eBay and haven't received the large cash back at all. Yet when I buy small things under $100 they come up instantly. Send through an email query asking for help and all they do is copy and paste there standard reply that the customer hasn't completed the process correctly??? Frustrating. Not bothering anymore.

  • Won't order anything high value through there thanks to yours plus other warnings. Emailed my earlier CB site which put me at founder level the other week anyway.

  • +2

Andrew from Cashrewards here. Whilst 95% plus of purchases track perfectly issues sometimes do occur if cashback guidelines are not followed.

Btw -If you don't follow the guidelines and your purchase does not track it will generally not make any difference which cashback website you are using as the tracking process works in exactly the same way for all cashback websites.

You can be assured Cashrewards do not remove high value items transactions, I swear to this. This would be a criminal thing to do and is an offensive suggestion. Many thousands of OzB's will attest to receiving high value cashback on large purchases.

Hundreds of thousands of purchases made by Australians are now earning cashback on the things they are already buying. Understandably our members are really disappointed when it doesn't work for them. We always welcome your feedback.

    • +3

Not to mention if people don't get their cashback, CashRewards won't get their cut. So it's not as if it's in their best interest to screw folks over - the bigger the transaction the bigger the cut. Not that they would ever say as much in public I presume, but it's only logical.

      • That is exactly the way it works. If members don't receive cashback we don't get paid our cut/commission in the first place. It is difficult for us in that a lot of the bigger stores have a 'no enquiry policy' They believe their tracking is accurate and don't want to waste time reviewing individual transactions. So if one of our members transactions fails to appear in their file there is little we can do. When we do manage to enquire the most common reason for cashback not being paid is that another website has been paid for the transaction and these websites are mostly comparison and coupon websites that have registered the 'last click' prior to sale.

  • hey Andrew, because I'm a goose and missed this post will there be another ebay % bonus anytime soon?

    • -1

Hope so, this went well. Keep using Cashrewards in the meantime whenever you are buying from any of the over 700 stores and growing every day.

And anyway why wouldn't you..Cashrewards really is the cheapest, smartest way to shop online.
