OzBargain Exclusive: 4.0% Cashback on eBay Sitewide @ CashRewards

7240

If you thought this was big, how about a huge 4.0% to go with the Good Guys 20% promo? In effect, you're getting 24% off your purchases, as the cashback applies to the pre-discounted amount. The offer applies to any purchase made via eBay Australia, not just Good Guys.

I'm stoked to say I was able to contact the founder & MD of CashRewards Andrew Clarke, who is one of the nicest people imaginable. I explained how we need a ripper deal to tie in with the Good Guys offer, and after a late night, we agreed on 4.0%.

Note the offer goes live at 9:00am AEDT, and the link will be updated then. Due to the overwhelming success of the deal, CashRewards has agreed to extend the offer until 11:59pm Monday Oct 19. Expiry is 11:59pm Wednesday Oct 14. Have a great day and happy shopping :)

MOD NOTE: If you are planning to post a deal mentioning this additional cashback, please state the price before any cashback is applied in the title.

You miss the last step: Hope for the best.

If they track your purchase correctly, you will receive a confirmation email in a few days and your CR account should have a pending amount.

If they fails to track, you have to go through all the trouble to contact CR.

      • Is it tricky?

        • It's a bit hit and miss.
The only time I've ever used cashback was for buying an xbox one from the microsoft store. Got the cashback over a year later!
Still, it did come, after I'd lost hope.

      • I purchased this arvo
But i had adblock enabled and it was on my watch list which i hear is bad

I also tried to proceed via click and collect and it threw me backward cos they didnt have stock

I bet it didnt track, cr*p

        • I purchased on friday the 16/10/15 through the good guys
Got the email that they had tracked it and my cashback was coming this morning on monday 19/10/15
          One business day, happy as!

Got a galaxy s6 from $888 to $670 (although they were on sale at dicksmith for $750, so cashback $720
          A saving nonetheless

      You got it!

Go to Cahsrewards and click the eBay store or any of the 700 retailer logos and then shop as normal on the store's normal website.

There are a few precautions to make sure the tracking is not interrupted and you can read about those precautions on any of the store pages on Cashrewards and there are also lots of helpful comments in this post.

After you have made a purchase, you should then receive an email to say your sale has been recorded.

You can expect to get the email anytime from a few minutes after your purchase to 7 days later, depending on the store.

With eBay it takes around 2- 3 days normally to receive the email and for the rewards to appear in your account.

It is then up to the store to approve the sale. eBay takes around 45 - 55 days max to approve sales at which point you can then request transfer to your bank account.

Any further queries let me know.

      Andrew

      • I got my confirmation email after 1 business day (not including weekend). Thanks so much

    • Yes, that's right. You also need to turn off ad-blocking for it to work. I usually log onto ebay and add everything I want to the cart, first. Then I log onto cashrewards, click on ebay and when I get into ebay, I just pay straight away. This has always worked for me.

  • Wow, what a bunch of good… guys.

Thank you, I'm here all week.

    • LOL at the -'ve vote. Just because Good Guys ended up being douchebags you're taking it out on me (which was posted before GG turned out to be douchebags, for the record). Good times.

  • Good one bro

  • See updated description:

If you are planning to post a deal mentioning this additional cashback, please do not include the cashback in price in the deal title. The price should be the purchase price before cashback. Then mention the additional cashback in the body of the deal, taking 4% off the purchase price AFTER other discounts have been applied.

So if you are posting a $100 item for the Good Guys eBay, the price in the title should be $80 including the 20% discount code. Then in the description you can mention that cashback takes a further 4% off $80 (not $100).

    • Description updated again. I've been advised that it's possible that the cashback may be on the full price of the item.

If you are planning to post a deal mentioning this additional cashback, please state the price before any cashback is applied in the title.

    • Im confused. OP states the 4% is off the pre discounted amount.

In effect, you're getting a cool 24% off your purchases, as the cashback applies to the pre-discounted amount.

      • Yes thats not quite correct.

The 4% is only after the discount. In effect you get 23.2%

    • +2

It was my understanding that the cashback takes a further 4% off the $100 price.

I purchased a $1357 fridge and used the 20% eBay code last time to bring it down to $1085.60, then cashrewards calculated 2.5% of $1357 to give me a cashback of $33.92.

Edit: Typed too slow. Already amended above.

    • Gotcha but doesn't that contradict the post's "…cashback applies to the pre-discounted amount."?

EDIT: doh, even slower than others.

    • Sorry guys my bad. Please see correction

  • +4

TA, you have such a tight arse it's awesome

    • I love tight people ;)

      • You sure do like them tight
        ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°).

  • Good negotiation OP. Win win for all.

  • Cheers TA for continuous efforts.

Though i may not have anything to buy from TGG at the moment :D

  • So cashback is not a guarantee of money back is it? Judging by the comments here and elsehwere it isnt.

    Just asking.

    • +3

Sometimes it tracks your session okay, sometimes it doesn't.

I normally launch a new IE session and quickly buy whatever I wanted. I seem to get it everytime okay. Previously, I use to just use my existing browser sessions and it was 50/50 if tracked or not.

      • OK, so I use Chrome and it would seem my best best would be to use incognito.
Anyone else using chrome with good success rate?

        • +1

it uses cookies, so you cant use incognito mode or block them.

        • @darkage:

          Gotcha.

        • +2

@darkage: you can use incognito mode without issues. Chrome's incognito mode stores cookies until the session is ended and then deletes them.

So as long as you go incognito, follow the store link though cash rewards and finalised your purchase cashback should be applied

  • Hmmm… Dyson DC45.. Thoughts people? Would love the V6 but don't have the $ for it as I already have a Dyson corded vac. Just want something that's got good suction and reasonable price.
FFS, just noticed it's out of stock.. :(

    • +1

I have a DC45 (animal w\ mini power head + longer power head) and it does the job for my small 2bdr unit. I run it in turbo the whole time and I still have some juice left over.
My unit has economy short pile carpet. Not sure how it would go with thicker and longer pile style carpets as the head doesn't seem to have a great deal of torque and might bind easily

The only thing I dislike is the recharge time which is around 4-5hrs from dead flat.

It's my first cordless vacuum, got it when I first moved in a year ago and it continually picks up dirt every week.

      • Cheers for the info Jrad..
        :)

  • Hoping to pick up a mini motor head attachment for the Dyson.
Didn't buy one during the last promo (picked up the V6).

  • Already spent way too much during the ebay 15% sale. Must…resist…

    • Thoughts on possibility of another sale (20%) in November like last year?

  • +1

looks like a lot of item are being removed, was checking out air conditioners and as I am looking at a few they are getting made - This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available.
    A bit DSE to me.

cashrewards are no good I transact through computer and always use it but they always come with a reason that it is not been detected, they are hopeless I guess I ll give a try to Shopandmint

    • |I guess I ll give a try to Shopandmint|
I read it as 'I ll give a try to Shoplifting'

    • Due to GST?

    • +1

That's why people receive different grade for their high school Maths.

    • +5

Don't trick people and make your deal appear better than it actually is.

@swiggity swag - Why would I try to trick anyone. Maybe if I explain, you'll see your comment is unwarranted.

      • You buy something from Good Guys for $100
      • Take 20% off full price with GG's deal ($20)
      • Take 4% off full price with this deal ($4)

So your $100 purchase, in effect, actually cost you $76 ($100 less $20 less $4), or exactly 24% off.

      • I think he calculated the 4% based on the discounted price instead of the full price which might be true. Having said that, 23.2% is very good :)

        • +1

I have it confirmed from the CashRewards rep that the cashback is based on the pre-discounted price :)

        • +1

The cashback is calculated on the eBay side at the point of clicking "Add to cart" (or "Buy now") on the price of the item. The discount isn't applied until the checkout/Paypal side. So it is definitely calculated on the full price, and not the discounted price.

  • Tks OP!
Just did my tax refund and I use part of $ to buy the following:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sony-KDL40W700C-40-101cm-FHD-LED-…
It is now $718.40 and I use the cashreward 4% so price is now down to $689.664.
I saw the same on sale @ Myer for $799 during the weekend and I almost bought it because I have a $100 gift card from my wife.
And it is now even more expensive @ $849.15??? What the…….
    http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/electrical/electrical-sa…
And luckily they have not increase the price for this unit today.

I never manage to get it work for the cashrewards. May I know how to enjoy the cashreward? you got the cashback on the spot or after few days?

    • +2

I use a completely separate browser, login to cashreward, launch ebay within there, finish the purchase and usually cashback available in the next 3-4 months.

  • |May I know how to enjoy the cashreward?|
You can only enjoy when the rewards finally go to your bank account, after months and months of waiting for the amount to change from 'pending' to 'available' status.

    • Just let it accumulate to make you feel better.
      I currently have over $80!

  • Thanks TA appreciate the effort. Unfortunately not going to take advantage of this as The Good Guys suck the big one this time

  • Time to buy a Dyson V6 Motorhead for $480 :D All locked in.

    • +1

      $454 after cashback

    • I was so tempted too, thinking the motorhead will be more effective. But I've just read some reviews which says that the motorhead is powered by the v6 itself and so the battery lasts shorter than the other v6 models without the motorised head. Conflicted now because the battery doesn't last long as it is.

  • +2

Looks like ebay is loosing a lot of market and thanks for sites like ozbargain, other sellers can sell stuff cheaper through their own websites. I prefer to buy from the store's website directly. Ebay and Paypal fees are a joke now.

    • May be worth asking some sellers if they're happy to take transaction outside ebay.
Granted you lose Paypal 'protection' et al but you can negotiate more than 12% off the price.

      • eBay in general have been on decline for the past year or two

just google eBay decline and you will read a articles about ebay getting whacked by google for their dodgy shit.

as a seller on eBay - volume down at least 50% year on year. but fortunutately, life do not depend on eBay

Feel sorry for those who do

        • I think a lot of those buy swap and sell pages on Facebook would hurt eBay.
Plus their fees go up every year.

        • @treeman: and their customer service is buyer biased,

if deliver delayed, buyer gets to keep the product for free. Free lunch to all those who live in regional areas and developing countries with shitty postal system

if item is requested for warranty, seller have to pay for return post (not DOA claims)

          just to name a few

        • @Aceboy884: Its not always the case. Like I bought from last sale from Dick Smith and even after 2 weeks there is no sign of the item. Dick sent me a courier booking tracking no. one week ago, but it is still sitting like that. There are few good sellers who get burnt with bad buyers, but there are sellers who have crap services and should not be in online sales business. Smaller businesses like ShoppingExpress have quite prompt shipping and respond back as well.
I would advise to pick up items for big stores.

        • @Gaggy:

In your experience it's dick smith

Which I'm sure have local reps

The ones small sellers get are from overseas who reply with cut and paste

I'm not taking about sellers, I'm saying eBay as a seller platform is deteriorating

All these deals we see are lost lead user acquisition strategy

          eBay paying for the discounts

        • @Aceboy884: Not sure why you have ticked as an associate to ebay and making declaration that ebay is on decline?

  • i'M NOW 4% RICHER FOR LIFE

    • +2

4% of your transaction amount, not 4% of your total wealth.

  • How long before you get a confirmation of cashrewards tracking the purchase ?

    • About a week. In the 15% sale I made transactions on the Tuesday and had tracking on cashrewards by the Sunday afternoon.

Sometimes it's quicker and others slower.

      • Took 1 business day not including weekend for me this week

  • -2

Happy! When I did the Cashrewards transaction, noticed that my set of 3 Booking.com $12 rebates had been approved already! I won't be using the bookings for another 6 weeks yet, and one I had already cancelled :) Withdrew the $!

    • They have cashback? If I had known a few weeks ago…

  • I always wondering how this company works?

  • You're brilliant TA! Nice work!

  • -3

    Math is not correct. 0.8 x 0.96 = 0.768. 23.2% off.

    • +3

Math is correct. 4% is off the pre-discounted price, not the discounted one as per your example.

      0.80 - 0.04 = 0.76 or 24% off

  • the worst part about this is when you see a large balance in your account and you realise how much you've been spending on ebay lately….

  • TA you should go on holiday so i can seriously save my money

  • +4

TA - could you push your friendship with the Cashrewards boss and ask him to give all members on OzB lifetime 4% cashback status? Not sure on the logistics, but we buy enough stuff via OzB, thru Cashrewards on eBay to warrant special priviledges for OzB members… :)

    • +1 for this idea.

Im just grateful for TightArse's original negotiation.

      4% is brilliant!

    • It is much simpler for TA to just negotiate extra 2% for 'ALL' cashback offers.
or just get them to share 10% of their annual profit with ozbargainers.

Let them worry about how to identify who is or isn't ozbargainers.

    • I'd be happy if they just process ALL transactions made through Cash Rewards and pay what they promise.

  • I was looking to buy Nutribullet and found NUTRIBULLET Pro 900W 9 Piece Set (Model No. NB9-0907M) is for $197.00 at Good Guys (ebay)
can anyone please advise, is this jacked up price or its normal price ??? is it worth paying approx. $149.72 after applying (20% & 4%) discount? or it'll will be available for cheaper price after ending of these both offers??

    Thanks

  • dunno about yous, but the cashrewards site seems to have burned out. Won't even load.

    • Yeah same here too

    • +3

Andrew here from CR. Sorry everyone but our big US datacenter is down, hope they will have us back up ASAP.

  • +1

    CashRewards seems to be back.

    • Andrew will be pleased :)

      • +1

Yes TA pleased indeed that they got it fixed, was nerve-racking!

        Andrew

        • +2

Hi Andrew there from CR, we authorized TA to represent us for another late night negotiation with you to raise Wish gift card to 7.5% off permanently.

        • @coprocessor8087: Pisser :)

  • I'll take the bait and give this a go. See how good cashrewards are and the good guys click n collect. Wish me luck!

  • Bought a TV from the goodguys yesterday and the payment cleared. However no email notification from cashrewards for cashback. Andrew ?

    • It can take a couple of days for the email notification to come through unfortunately, we are working with our stores to improve their reporting and hope to be able to offer real time notification for the majority of our stores asap.

      • received but seems like the cashback remains at around 2.5% , rather than 4%.

        Same question as others

        • Andrew here from Cashrewards, we have had a technical issue due to a USA time zone Issue with our system. If you got 2.5% in your tracking receipt and you bought during the 4% period this will be corrected in your account shortly. Apologies for the inconvenience. Sorry about this but eBay reports in US time and there was a mismatch which we are currently rectifying.
