    no AT&T deal?

    • +4

Not yet mate. Still working out the chinks and intricacies of the card and how to go about it all etc.

Might be able to do a h2o dealer sooner than AT&T (pretty much already tested). It runs of the AT&T network, with a bit more data for cheaper.

Does that sort of card interest you?

      • +4

bring the deal on please…. :)

      • +1

Does that sort of card interest you?

At this stage, any deal for the USA would be of great interest.

        • +1

We will rush and do it as fast as we can :)

        • @TravelSIMSDirect:

I'm also keen for a USA deal! Going to Hawaii at the end of Nov, and would be great if I could get my hands on a sim in AUS :)

  • -5

can i use it in Australia?

    • No, this is just for within Japan mate.

  • Hello, so do they work in iphone 6 plus? If i buy one, do I just insert the sim and then turn on the phone and it will connect? Also it works fine for Sapporo right?

    • +1

I had to change the cellular settings in my phone (as per the included instructions)

      • +1

Thanks deal88. Yep we will give simple instructions that take about 1-2 mins before the card is good to go!

  • Do u have pocket wifi for japan sim rental?
Do u have data sim for taiwan other than the global sim that u have?

    • +11

Unfortunately no and no at the moment Prince Alladin.

      • best comment!

Just came by to say I purchased one of the 14 day cards on the last deal and it was fantastic. I could stream Netflix on docomo network. (I was unwell and bed ridden for a few days on my trip to Japan)
Back on topic, highly recommend this product and TSD, I had an issue and they got back to me within the hour, I was impressed.

    • Glad to hear it worked well for you :)

  • How about a deal for SIMs for use in the US?

    T-Mobil preferably.

Many of are still stuck because of this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/203864

    • Unfortunately not at this stage for T Mobile. We are brokering a new deal with them atm (prices have skyrocketed + aussie dollar is tanking).

Probably see a Simple Mobile deal next week I would say (runs off the T-Mobile network). We have finalized a deal with them last week.

At this stage, any deal for the USA would be of great interest. However, T-Mobile coverage appears better for areas of New York City and LA, California.

  • Hi rep,

Just what I was after. How long do they take to arrive?

    • We dispatch from Melbourne. Depending where in the country you are, usually 2-5 business days.

      • Awesome. This is going to be a lifesaver.

        Thanks

        • +1

Be sure to read instructions before you leave as you need to install something on your phone before you leave. Me, being busy forgot to do so luckily I got free wifi somewhere to sort it out.

        • @17731773: Thanks for the heads up. I'm in the "getting everything ready" stage so knowing this is handy.

        • Just came back from Japan.
Google Maps now has Japan train info and is very useful.
I found a travel Sim and iPad essential.
Also gives you time and cost info.

  • +2

Cannot access the site so is it down or just ozbargained?

Also Rep, are you able to provide a tax invoice for work related purchase?

    • -1

Try again mate it should be up! And yes we can :)

      • +1

why isn't the site working for me then? Tried both FF and Chrome.

        • Hmm i have no idea mate. Try a mobile or tablet?

If you with Vodafone and activate the $5 international roaming. it may cheaper than getting a travel SIM for 7 days. $5*7 = $35 only.
The $5 international roaming you can access your data, call and TXT postpaid plan inclusions in more than 50 countries around the world.

Correct, and this deal is for a Data only SIM.

      Unfortunately, we are with OPTUS.

    • +1

On the same boat, going there for 14 days but Vodafone route is better for us.

    • Really? How does it work if I call an Australian Number when in Japan? Or a local Japanese number when in Japan? Will I get charged for local calling rate for calling the Aus number or the Japanese number?

      • +1

        Yep.

if you plan is unlimited local call, then you can call back AU from Jap as much as you can.

if you plan with 300 mins international call, then you use that 300 mins to call Jap number.

I traveled to HK & Jap 3 weeks in Sept, can't be bother to get a local DATA sim over there. I just use the Voda international roaming with all voice & data. I think it's great!

  • By 'activated', does that mean the 7 or 14 days starts from that point? i.e. this will be no good for travel next year?

    • +4

Yes so from first use the time starts. This deal isn't for next year but if you stay tuned I am sure there will be one closer to your departure date :)

      • +2

Will be on the look out as I will be travelling to Japan in March.

  • +2

What speeds do the 3G dropped down to or are capped to? I was in Japan a few weeks ago, considered DoCoMo and passed. You would burn through 200mb in no time and then it was throttled to something insane.

    • Read reply comment below please :)

  • +2

What speeds do you expect on 3g??
Also traveling to Kyoto Osaka Hiroshima and Niseko
Does anyone know of the coverage in these regions.

    • Docomo themselves claim about 1.1mbps on their 3g network. Id suspect on average slower than this but decent speed.

      • -2

That doesn't sound good enough. Again, I prefer limited data with full speed. 200M is better than a lot of others, but still too easy to eat away these days.

    • +1

      Coverage map for doCoMo
      http://opensignal.com/coverage-maps/Japan/

i went to Kyoto Osaka Hiroshima 3 weeks ago and worked great.

  • +1

well this is a shame…i'm going early next year!

  • Will this only work for phones, or can I also use it in my pocket wifi modem?

    • Tehtering is available so yes.

  • +2

Tried to buy but website doesn't work?

edit - im keen to buy one however. once the website is working. However it says 'must be activated by december 1st'. If I am travelling on the 4th december, can I activate it in Australia before I go?

    • I'm travelling the 3rd December and also interested in this.

    • Alright I ordered, seems decent for the trip.

I assume I can just activate it on the 1st december?

    • For 4th you should be alright. We will extend manually for a couple of days. Just insert when you get there.
There may be too many on the site at once atm.
      Same for the 3rd :)

      • You are awesome! Thanks a heap - I ordered it earlier :)

      • is there a possibility of extending the usage by a few days and paying a little extra? my trip is 18days long, 14 days isnt quite enough! ><'

  • It's trying to charge me 16.95 for shipping? No other option.

  • Haha wished they had a longer expiry… Going in May 2016…

  • +1

By December 1st 2015? No. I need sim cards around Christmas. Please make that happen. It doesn't have to be unlimited though. How about 6G on 4G for 2 weeks or 1 month, something like that?

    • im going to Japan on 26 Dec, any data packs for that time would be good :)

    • Follow us on socials. We will be doing a deal soon for xmas period travellers and announcing on facey :)

  • +2

    site doesnt work?

    works on my old ie

    • Should be loading good now :)

  • Any deals for Jan 2016, Rep? I need the 7 day one during this time. hehe

    • +1

    :.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:

    • You're welcome!

  • Thanks, that worked out well. I'm heading over in three weeks.

  • Hi rep, any deals for Japan in February?

    Cheers.

    • There will be mate but closer to that date. Stay tuned here or follow us on Facey for notifications for when it's on :)

  • Thank you so much.
Now I'm all ready for my trip in December!! :D :D :D :D

    • So jealous!

    • +2

Now u can spend all your time on the phone while at Japan.

      • +1

won't miss out on any ozbargain deals while in Japan :D

        • Haha you don't want to miss out on half price Bonds jocks just because you're in Tokyo right?

  • +1

Thanks for the deal! We're off to Japan and arrive on December 1st so this will be perfect!

  • +1

    Great deal !

  • Hi Rep, do you have any NZ deals??

  • How quick is postage? I leave on the 31st October to Japan

    • Usually 2-6 business days depending on where you are for regular post and we dispatch within 24 hours.

  • +1

To get one or not to get one. I don't want to get lost on the trains but i also don't want the distraction of having easily accessible Internet available at my fingertips as I may start wasting time playing Ingress……

    • +1

      All those uniques…

      • Your post is for or against me getting the sim in case I start doing that? :P Shouldn't encourage me!

The portal congestion around Tokyo would be immense. So many opportunities for multi-fields too…..

        • I was Pro you getting the SIM 😀

Trouble with density is low MU though… But yeah, lots of AP for fielding. Plenty of chance to hack too!

I'm going late December so can't utilise this deal…

        • @kickling:

I'm kind of needing more mass fielding opportunities so i can get to L8 (Only L4 atm) and I'll concentrate on MUs when i hit 8. You'll be gunning for those uniques? :)

I could spend an entire week farming Tokyo's portals but then I wont see the rest of Japan.

  • Hi Rep, can I top these up for additional weeks? I will be there for more than two weeks. Cheers.

    • I think you can but will be at the retail cost in Japan.

      • I'm interested about topping up as well. What is RRP for recharges?

  • Can someone explain what the deal is with getting a local number in Japan?

    • Tourist are prohibited to getting a local Japan number, hence why we are forever doomed to data only cards!

  • Thanks mate. Might not be the cheapest sim around but the extra data (most seem to be 100mb only before throttling) and convenience of getting it before the trip makes it a good deal!

  • Voda $5 roaming or this.. Needed one for jan/feb so this doesn't work for me ..when will you have 2016 offer?

    • Likely early December mate!

  • i used the b-mobile 14day traveller sim. unlimited data daily incl 4g for 3600yen which works out to be below 50. delivered to airport or hotel. plenty of cheaper options available at the airport locally also

  • +1

sad i missed out on this, will there be any more stock for someone arriving in Japan early december? discounted or full price?

    • ^

      • Back in stock on the site for the next batch at full price, though there will likely be a 2-3 business day delay for dispatches as the stock is in transit to Melbourne from Japan at the moment (thought should be here very soon).

  • Oh crap, didn't think they'd sell out so delayed getting one. This happened with my US flights as well. Could have bought flights at $799 return to LA 3 years ago but didn't and had to pay $1100 the next day. Serves me right for not finishing the transaction last night.

    • Ohh terrible luck! When do you fly out? Might be another bargain before then! New stock in soon :)

      • Fly out on November the 15th

        • Same boat as JayM, missed out on the deal and I'm leaving for JP on the 14th.

        • @KayDat: will do my best to get approval for another deal ASAP!
