Access Airport Lounges Worldwide - £16.50 Per Visit (~AUD $27.70) @ Gourmet Society & Dragon Pass

1040
GOURMET15

Found this at HUKD and from the comments, seems to be a ripper deal. There's no airports listed for Australia, but hundreds overseas. Like some have said in the comments, £16.50 is enough for maybe two drinks, so considering all the goodies you get in these lounges, this is a nice bargain for travellers. Apply coupon GOURMET15 at checkout. Certificate is sent electronically to your email address. Enjoy :)

Yeah, but even after you've enjoyed the lounge and pretending you're rich, you still have to go down the back of the plane and sit in the nosebleeds :-(

Just paid $200 AUD for upgrade to premium economy at check in, Etihad, Syd-AUH. Let's see if it was worth the extra dole.

      • Did they upsell you or did they request this?

        • I requested it

      • +1

Are the loads busy from sydney? I just flew to auh from perth last night and was only half full.

Reckon you are better off just getting the 4 inner aisle seats to yourself…then have a complete bed

        • +1

yeah i do that too, don't know how to get a free upgrade to business/or premium for free so i just hope theres not alot of people on the back of the plane and scope out single rows and voula free bed to yourself.. however a 4 seater is definitely better than a 3 seater but a 3 seater is doable when you really want to sleep lol =p

      • +5

Given that Etihad don't offer Y+ (Premium Economy) I find that hard to believe.

What sort of Drinks are you buying at 15-30$ each?

32$ is probably around the value of what they cost. Dont see it as a bargain myself unless you were spending 2 meals in transit

    • +14

Cheap night out in Changi Airport given how expensive alcohol is in Singapore!

      • Alchol didnt seem that much more when I was over there in December last year. Actually having a beer at dinner was far cheaper when I was eating at hawker centres.

        • Hawker centres are indeed cheap (SING$5-6 for a double sized beer), but they are very much the exception. Drink in a bar and you'll be shocked at how expensive it is.

        • What beer were you drinking? I had something called 'Pearl' and it could barely be called 'beer'. In Clarke Quay normal beers are about $10-15 a pint

        • +1

@JohnHowardsEyebrows: I drank at a few bars and restaurants and other than the bar at Marina Bay Sands they were pretty much Sydney pricing

        • +1

@aim54x: True that. I guess we expect SE Asia to be cheaper than home.

        • @JohnHowardsEyebrows: it's all relative, but I agree the assumption would be that it would be cheape, but Singapore is overall not a lot cheaper for clothing/electronics/accommodation but the range is better

Interesting to me were the following:

Your DragonPass E-Certificate is valid for 1 year from date of issue as stated on the E-Certificate.

Cost per E-Certificate is £15.00 per person including children. Infants are free of charge.
Access to lounges is strictly subject to availability.
Lounges have their own terms and conditions, they will also have dress requirements and will not allow access if drunk or likely to cause offence to other customers.

if drunk or likely to cause offence to other customers…….

      "Sorry, you are Australian so….."

  • Perfect for people who have long transit stops. Wish I had this years ago when I was stuck in LA stopover for 10 hrs.

Not a seasoned traveller but I know of a few who may enjoy this.

    • Not really, since they put a maximum of 2-3 hours per visit.

It'll help -but you'll still have a lot of downtime (unless you buy 3-4 passes!)

  • +6

Normal Price is £50 a visit

I wasn't intending to undermine a serious issue that is crippling to so many.

Having said that though, "not being able to stop yourself from correcting spelling" kind of can be, I reckon.

Offer is also available to those with free Regus Gold Card. I've considered it before, but I'm way too frugal to pay au$32 every time to use an airport lounge.
Your membership is free is provided subject to you being a customer of a Regus Group Company (“Regus”) .
Cost per visit is GBP £14.75 per person (for you and your guests) including children unless otherwise stated on the individual description of the lounge. Infants are free of charge. Guest visits will be charged at check-in by DragonPass, member entry fees will be applied to your Regus account.
    from t&c.

    • It says they charge your Regus account but how does that work? I don't have any billing details in there other than an address.

      • Yes, you will need to set up a Regus account & probably provide a credit card for billing. It's the same as if you were booking a room with them. After all, that's why you have a Gold Card - to use their expensive facilities, isn't it ;-)

Too much hassle for me. I'm happy with a free cubicle, coffee, & usually great view.

        • still using them freely for free? :)

        • @tonester:
Yes, but don't tell anyone ;-)

  • +4

Priority Pass Card offers lounge passes if you plan to use their lounges often. Dragonpass seems to have a better selection of lounges though. Some of Citibank's Credit Cards offer the Priority Pass for 2 free lounge visits a year.

    • I used my 2 free passes on my South America trip. SO damn good. You can also pay USD $29 or something once you have used your free passes.

    • yep - the citi sig card gives you 2 passes. drink all the free booze you can, pays for itself in about 30 minutes at airport prices!

  • -8

This is normal price. Not a bargain.

  • is this for once off use?
what are the goodies available in the lounge?

    • +2

Food (snack or meals), drink (alcoholic or not), somewhere comfortable to sit back and relax, half decent bathrooms, magazines, TV, somewhere to charge your phones, etc

Definitely a good buy if you're going on a lot of trips or a big round-the-world trip!

      • I do make 1 or 2 international trips a year.
It will be valuable if it's multiple entry

      • +4

Not to mention showers in most. If you're ever transiting after a long flight, having a shower, kicking up your feet and having a few beers really hits the spot.

        • Showers are the main reason I'd go into an airport lounge.

If headed to Europe via Hong Kong or Singapore it's great to be able to refresh with a shower, meal, and a couple of cocktails.

        • Yep totally worth it for transit

        • +1

@Yoz: I had a 6hr wait in singapore both directions last time i went overseas. But because I have qantas gold access, we hit the Qantas lounge and Emirates lounges. Probably ended up saying $100 just on food and drink!

  • Bought some $290 return fares to Kuala Lumpur for next July in the Air Asia X sale a month or so ago (thank you OzBargain!!).

Flight back home leaves KLIA2 late at night (about 11pm from memory) - so thinking this may be a good idea to kill the last few hours of the holiday in relative comfort rather than kicking around the general airport area with the wife & teenagers…

Assume you can use the Lounge Passes no matter which airline you are flying with?? Anyone have any idea?

    • air asia X using KLIA2 while on this deal only have a lounge on KLIA airport (cmiiw)

    • +1

Yes, you can. Just make sure you look carefully for it - the airside lounge (far better to go through immigration and the first security check before you kick your feet up) is not signed as the Plaza lounge, but as a wellness spa or the like. It's to the immediate left of the McDonald's. Nice and quiet, dark, great recliners to rest on, showers available, and help yourself to a small variety of Malaysian food, and as much beer as you like.

      • Yer, I've been there a few times.

Food can be great or ordinary. Unlimited tiger cans. Dedicated wifi (you will prolly need to ask for the password). Staff very indifferent…just how I like it.

Oh, also, I think we should keep this little place a secret.

  • +3

I've used some local credit cards to get free access to lounges when abroad. UK, USA & India. Depends on the card issuer though.

    • +3

Could you elaborate on which cards and how you get access - do you show the credit card or is there more to it than that?

I use CITIBANK Diners Club. Annual fee is about $135 p.a. and no lounges in Sydney (Not sure about the rest of Aust.)

      • Sorry I missed this, tonester beat me to it. Have to see if your card fees are worth the number of times you use the lounge plus other benefits.

I don't travel much. You just show the card, they swipe it for $0 and you're good to go!

Does anyone have any recommendations as to the best lounge to use in Singapore?

I'll be transiting through Singapore next April and have stope overs of roughly 10 hours both ways, so a shower and place to relax would be nice.

I'm thinking the Ambassador Lounge (T3) or Plaza Premium Lounge (T1) look the best but would be good to know if anyone has any experience….

    • Why not head into town?

      • +1

We probably will at least one way but I'm guessing that
        1) we might be too exhausted at least one way; and
        2) we'll probably be very careful with making sure we don't cut it fine, so even if we go to town we'll probably come back 2-3 hours before the flight just in case (in which case, we'll happily pay to use the lounge for that time).

        • Yes good reasons :)

    • +2

I prefer Plaza Premium T1 but if your flight leaves from other terminals make sure you give enough time to get to the gate. Sometimes it can take a good 20 minutes to get there!

  • Some nice lounges there. Will compliment my Qantas Club membership nicely. Thanks :-)

  • I m flying in Dec via singapore looking for to get this deal….does anyone know if the 15 buks get you just entry and food and stuff is paid extra or its all included as checking on some of the singapore lounges and they all have buffet and snacks listed but doesn't say if it's extra cost ?? Never been to these lounges before :) Appreciate the help….

    • Always included. Otherwise it may as well be a restaurant. Some will charge for alcohol (esp. Singapore/Malaysia - places with high alcohol tax), some will just give you beer.

  • Same as priority pass from black cards / citibank?

    • I have this card and love it. 2 free lounge visits per year. $27USD per additional visit (or for accompanied partner visits)

The Citibank Signature can be a hard card to get (well it was in my case - took 3 goes) but once you have it, PP is fantastic.

  • +2

Just found online that u get 40 singapore airport dollars to use if transiting….and these are accepted at some of the lounges..def at ambassador lounge….making it FREE to access :)
This deal still good for other counties..

    • 40$ airport cash, but only 20$ to be spent on lounges (embassador, e.g). The other 20$ has to be spent on goods.

So - no free lounge access

And you will have to flight on a few selected carriers and routes, meaning, flying with jetstar or scoot wont get you this benefits.

  • I take it, This isnt very useful for people who already have priority pass memberships?

    • This is actually cheaper than what you might pay to bring in a partner/friend on a priority pass. Great find OP!

      • Slightly cheaper, but, having to buy in advance, not worth it unless you know you'll be visiting a lounge in the next year.

  • Brilliant.. i was just looking for something like this. Bought 4 vouchers . Lot of travel next year.

    • +4

Did you have to select which lounge you wanted the vouchers for? Or are they generic?

      • +1

Just booked it doesn't mention the name of the lounge anywhere so i assume it's generic !

this is what came in the email:

"This voucher entitles the person named above to 1 lounge visit of their choice of the lounges listed on

        gourmetsociety.dragonpassuk.com.

All you need to do is present this voucher upon arrival at your choice of lounge and enjoy your lounge experience

courtesy of DragonPass and Gourmet Society"

        • Thanks - sounds generic! I will give it a whirl

I received the 2 complimentary passes through my amex platinum access card. These are through some priority card. As I am travelling to LA I am proposing to use the KAL lounge at Tom Bradley. Has anyone used this lounge in LA?

    • Just purchased 2 passes for QF flight out of LAX this afternoon so will let you know.

      • +3

KAL LAX lounge decent. Seems to be pretty quiet in the afternoon prior to the QF flights departing.

        • Do they have any food? The website doesn't list anything but online reviews seem to indicate that they do (or did at one point). Also, are towels provided for the showers?

        • +2

          @ocallaghans:

          Yes and yes

  • That's great news. I'll have about 4 hours to kill at Lax before the 10.00pm qantas flight to sydney. As long as they have shower facilities, some decent food and bourbon I'd be more than happy. Martino - Enjoy the facilities and a safe flight home.

    • Food average for an international lounge (but it was clearly off peak for them) however shower, drinks etc etc all good

      • Out of interest, do you tip in airline lounges in the US? I noticed people doing it in Houston a few years ago, and wasn't sure if I should join in (but given they kept serving me, I was happy to continue not tipping).

        • I didn't notice anyone tipping in the lounges I visited - and didnt see any tip jars either.

  • Am
Currently in Auckland lounge due to this deal. Great deal!!!!

    • Hey, I'm considering buying to use in Auckland soon, do they have a coffee machine by chance?

      • From memory it does. It was awesome and well worth the cash. Spent about 3 hours there and was very comfy

  • I used this last week in KL - thanks - no alcohol though

    • Which lounge? KLIA proper, or KLIA2?

      • +1

KLIA in the satellite building. Was nice though - awesome red velvet cake…

  • +1

Just entered the SATS premier lounge in Singapore airport T1. Nice place, alcohol included, shower included and massage chairs. Fairly basic food. But I'm drinking my $30 away already. Pretty happy all round. Would have been nice to visit the Qantas lounge but it doesn't open until 2.30pm.

I did have a problem with the pass giving them an error, had to buy a second one which worked. I am going to ask for a refund via email.

    Thanks again TA.

    • Very nice :)

  • Just tried this. With the code it is now $16.50.

I have two questions. Is klia2 the big ass barn that air Asia uses in kl now and how long does it take to receive these passes? Is it instant?

    • I think you mean £16.50?

      • Ha yes, my bad :) edit - opps thought I wrote the wrong price but yeah, just over $50 AUD for the both of us in Singapore… Our 5Hr layover went really fast
