Good little printer than can scan too, no issues with mine so far, just be aware they don't give you the cable to plug it into your computer

It's the standard now when purchasing a printer. Really wish they would go back to including it so you could actually start using your printer when you got it home.

I can understand that not to have it with wireless printers but no excuse to remove it with printers that require to be connected via USB.

My dad bought one of these for $15 on special at Big W once, I believe.

The bloody thing kept jamming and needed a new ink cartridge after something like 50 pages. Ridiculous.

    • There doesn't even seem to be a CISS made for this, either. :( I'll stick with my base model Epson.

    • Probably just the starter cartridge. They are always under-filled.

      • Yes these Canon printers come with starter cartridges which last stuff all time. I know because i used to have a PIXMA MG2560 which i threw out soon after. Why do you think they sell them so cheap because there's basically nothing in the cartridges.

        • Why do you think they sell them so cheap because there's basically nothing in the cartridges.

Consumer cartridge-based printers are loss-leaders for subsequent cartridge sales. They'd have balls in their heads if they included more than just a few pages worth of ink in them.

starter cartridges .. because i used to have a PIXMA MG2560 which i threw out soon after.

          +1 for environment.

        • @AlexF:

Yeah well, the printer was junk.

After i threw it out i started using a Brother multi function laser printer now for about a year, now those a high quality printers.

      thanks for the info punkman

  • Ran out of ink in my old printer. It was cheaper to by one of these on clearance $20 then.It did the project we were working on, much more than 50 pages double sided plus other printing.
I know of some people who have previously purchased 10 in similar deals. When deinked give to charity shops.

    • There's no way you did more than 50 pages double sided on those starter cartidges. There must have been hardly any thing on the pages.

      • Perchance we were fortunate. The project that was being done, map on one side , itenarity on the other , it worked for us A4 size, half page x 2. My family member would never go and buy a replacement inks even if it meant she was short of requirements. Lets assume it is catch as catch can. But I fully accept that your view may be right in most cases.

  • A few left at Big W Riverton-WA.

FYI, this is a special and not a clearance. Most stores should have had a delivery of them just before or on the day the special started.

  • I know this is an older deal, but I thought I would give an update. While I was searching for a scanner, I saw the MG2560 listing on Big W website for $20 in store only ($58 online). Many stores had stock.

So on Monday I went to Tuggerah to buy one. It scanned at $58. So when I insisted on the listed $20 price, they got the manager who approved it, saying the old special had not been removed. I note the website is still showing $20 2 days later.

I can't comment on the printer as it's still in the box, but I'm not expecting much. For $20 and a wait to get manager approval, someone may find it of benefit.
