  • +11

    The usual all-encompassing exclusions apply.

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/promotion-terms-and-conditions

    • +15

in other words '15% off only applies to the crap we marked up last night by 50%'

  • +3

  • +4

      "Excludes things worth buying."

    • +2

Gee - a list of things you can actually use it on would have been shorter.

      • There's a joke about long and short dicks here somewhere.

  • +10

They got absolutely wrecked in the stock market yesterday. Expecting big write downs on their inventory soon so that might finally translate to a decent sale. Unlikely though!

    • +1

      noice!

    • +1

still sinking today - stocks down to 77c
      not looking good

      • +3

Does that mean it would be a good idea to start using up any DS gift cards?

        • +1

I just bought $1250 of gift cards from Coles :/

      • Why?

      • Is there an expectation that dicksmith as a whole will shut down altogether? Or just that the stocks will dip quite low?

  • +1

the usual "excludes everything that is not DSE branded"?

    • +2

They will soon add everything DSE branded to the exclusion list as well, now that they know you have a pile of DSE gift cards from Coles.

    • +1

Even excludes Dick Smith branded TVs!

      • A good strategy from them to make people stocked up with Coles-sold DSE gift cards panic. They will soon grow impatient and buy any crap that is not excluded.

        • I thought we can convert the cards to Coles cards if we wanted to?

        • @Putnum: Let us know if you can find one DS that can still do this.

        • @coprocessor8087: I thought you'd do it at Coles

        • @Putnum: Never worked for me neither. It is a straight "No" from the store manager. Let us know which Coles can do this if you can find one. Thanks in advance. I still have 6 x $100 DS Gift Card by the way.

  • min spend?

LG OLED 55" TV (not 4k) at under $3k is pretty good.

    • +3

TGG 20% off eBay that passed few weeks ago had it for $2688 + $35.44 delivery (to my place)

      Heres the breakdown:
      TV $2688
      20% -$500
      CW 4% -$107.52
      Delivery +$35.44

I effectively paid $2115.92 when including CW

  • +11

    Any inclusions??

  • Code working when applied to a Kindle if anyone is interested. Now just to weigh up whether I really want one or not…

    • -2

Kindle? Nah you don't want one.

    • Kindling is for starting fires.

      • Kindling…

        ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • +3

Think it would be easier for everyone if DSE just said what it included.

    • +1

Would be a shorter list, that's for sure.

  • -5

Same exclusions as every other 'sale' that they have every single day. I don't consider this a deal since they have effectively the same thing every day.

    • +8

Why the negs? If you check their site each day they will have some variation of the exact same sale.
See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/215891 and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/215150 for example.
Different discounts but result in similar savings, all with the exact same exclusions and they do a different version every single day.
Not saying DSE is a bad store, but these 'sales' they keep having really should be banned.

    SAMSUNG 40" (101cm) Full HD Smart 100Hz TV UA40J6200

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/samsung-40-101cm-full-hd-sma…

    Bought for $793.90. (using coupon)

On special at the moment at HN, JB and Bing Lee for $895.

    Thanks OP.

  • +3

Damn, wish they'd listed the Pebble Time on their store.

    • me too :/

      • Me three

(let's see how long we can get the chain!)

  • Want to buy the Logitech Z906 and although it is showing in stock only for click and collect, can't find the darned thing in any store. What a (profanity) up!

    • The only VIC store I could find stock is in Bendigo.
On that note, cheaper to get delivered. In the past there was only stock of this in Sunbury so that wouldn't be as bad!

  • +5

Bought Dicksmith company for 15% off, thanks OP. Now what to do with all the stock.

    • +4

      Exclude it!

    • You're game to buy stock at $.795c a share…

Surely it's not going to go lower! (I said that @ $1.30 mark..)

      • +1

Wish I could buy DS stock with those gift cards from Coles. Then Coles effectively make the stock 9% cheaper.

    • What stock?

  • after they dropped 30% in market cap yday they better be getting some more decent sales

  • code doesnt work? invalid…

  • All jokes aside, is it a good time to buy DICK SMITH HOLDINGS LTD stocks?

    • +5

Buy low, sell high. If the stock goes down further, it's not a good idea. If the stock rises, it is a good idea.

      • +1

More importantly, should I be trying to offload my gift cards on gumtree?

      • +1

Stock trading is really this simple!

      • Thanks for the tip Einst-… Buffet.

  • +13

"Oh cool, I might grab myself a Seagate backup drive-"

    DSE: excludes Seagate branded products!

"Okaaaay, maybe a PSN card, need one of tho-"

DSE: excludes Xbox live and PSN cards!

"Jeez, well, I'll get an iTunes vo-"

DSE: excludes iTunes & App Store gift cards!

    "I…I…"
    tremulously points towards a product

    DSE: EXCLUDED!

    • Haha! That's a good one:)

  • The Logitech Z906 speakers drop to $254.15 with Click & Collect which is about $5 cheaper than what they were last week :)

  • +1

    Dicksmith is a joke.

They couldn't even get my eneloop order right.
Granted some people got lucky with their orders, but I won't trust anymore online order through DSE.

  • GETOFF the sauce.

  • +1

I was happy to see this deal today as I was wavering on buying this Sony party speaker which was already discounted by $133 so the 15% gave me a further $100 off final price $566.

  • +2

    awesome

Got this laptop 1 of my staff wanted for a lot less than JB HIFI

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/toshiba-satellite-p50-c002-dsau-…

    JB was 1700

DS was $1359 after the existing discount and this voucher. Well worth it for me!

    • Good deal and specs :)

When JB had their own sale around 10 days ago, this particular laptop was 15% less and priced at $1528. $1799 is the RRP so I am unsure as to how Dick Smith had it on $300 off to get $1599 prior to applying the 15% discount code. xD

I suggest getting a RAM drive software, disabling hibernation and the swap file to further improve speed as well as extend the SSD lifetime.

What I would like to know is since SSD is using M.2 interface, could another 2.5" SSD or HDD be easily added?

  • There is no further discount on this swan security - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/security/swann-dvr8-3425-960h-1t… but will see about the gift cards at woolies.

Reason for purchase, the son is renting his house out which is next to mine. the new tenants hace been jumping the 6ft fence and taking timber for hangi open cooking and also the combustion stove. There is no entry to back yard unless it is through the house. Also from front yard - wood chopping block [used as temporary decoration]-some other items like crow bar ….I was told that The chopping block was taken as my house was vacant and that the tenants there were kicked out [i stored items in carport] the firewood was unique as it was an unusual cut and aged. Fruit crops have also gone missing beyond the leftovers from possums. I come and go from property due to family medical care.

Camera record of my yard for return of cost of goods charged to real estate agent who is bemused by all of this. Tenant income is income and I can wait.

Question is DickSmith the place to buy this or is there better elsewhere. No landline or internet at property. Thanks
