DSE Xbox 360 Console Modern Warfare Edition WAS $599 NOW $399 DSE Instore Only [Expired]

910

Just happened to be browsing on the dick smith website to find what seems to be a pretty good bargain.

XBOX 360 MODERN WARFARE EDITION CONSOLE 250GB, normally $599 and now only $399.00(you can barely get the elite for that price now). Now it says only available instore, so just check for your store to see if they have stock.

checking the various sites of game, ebgames and jbhifi, all had the $599 price.

LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE PUT THE PRICE BACK UPTO $499 NOW, MAYBE THE $399 WAS AN ERROR, BUT GOOD LUCK TO THE PEOPLE WHO GOT IT YESTERDAY :)

MOD - Davo111 - Marked as expired. 1/2/10

    Just picked one up, thanks.

  • wow. very good deal.

  • Very tempting at that price.

  • great deal

  • Damn good price… Too bad I've already got one.

  • Dammit! Thats a great price. Just got the elite a month ago… Sigh

  • Does JB price match? I have so many JB gift cards from xmas only to find the best deals from DSE!!

  • Yeah that's a pretty good deal for DSE gotta admit, nice find.

  • What's the difference between elite and pro apart from the hdd size and the colour or the console?

    • nothing.
You pay a bundle for hard drive space. This console comes with the Modern Warfare 2 Game as well

  • also 2 controllers picked one up as well great deal!!

  • awesome deal. so say for example you compare it to the arcade deal for $199. for another $200 you get another controller, a headset, huge 250gb hard drive and mw2 game. These could easily cost $400 on their own.

  • so let me clarify this.. is the console that's included the arcade version or the live version with a larger hard drive.. I'm confused?

  • 250GB Hard Drive
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
    2 Black Wireless Controllers
    Black Wired Headset

that spells awesome deal to me, big plus!

  • Great Deal, but i missed out
just went to Lidcombe Store, all sold out.

only have 3 left in Parramatta store. :(

    • why don't you just go to the Parramatta store then? :P

      • Don't have enough lunch time. :(

  • zz theres heaps in macquarie

  • Picked one up at Brisbane Queen St Mall - they still have 3 left!

  • damn, wish there is PS3 deal like this :(

  • I hate seeing deals like this. It's so awesome that I actually feel tempted to get it EVEN THOUGH I already have an Elite…

  • Got one! Excellent Bargain

  • Anyone find any problems with it after the unboxing?
    http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Modern-Warfare-Limited-Consol…

    • yeah mine had cracked box had t open 2 other bundles at the store to get a game box that didn't have cracks along the bottom - bad packaging!!!

Got one of these for $339 when they were released. $399 is an amazing bargain, the console is awesome, the game is awesome, and 250Gb is closer to what they should have put in in the first place.

    • Where were they selling it for $339?

      • maybe he meant the xbox alone?

      • -1

No, completely true. $339 and that was delivered. This was on the bidding website BidHere.com.au, they had this 360 (the MW2 Limited Edition) listed - but prior to the actual release. As such, they made an estimate of the Australian price based on the US price! And it worked out to $339. The thing on the site was, you could, instead of bidding, choose to click 'buy now' and they would just charge you their RRP price - which was incredibly inaccurate in this case. I contacted them first and confirmed that it was an Australian MW2 console; they confirmed that it was actually sent from Dick Smith directly. So I clicked Buy Now, waited the 2 or so weeks for the console to be released, and about 2 days after release, I had the brand new console in the mail, from Dick Smith as promised.

If you still doubt this recollection of events, perhaps you'd like to see the receipt?

        Enjoy.

  • Aww, why did I have to pay $575 for mine at launch? :'(

I even sold off the MW2 game, 2 controllers, and hard drive to ease the burden on the hip pocket. I replaced the hard drive with a cheaper unofficial 250GB and sold the genuine one for $199.

    • hi.. just wondering if MS can ban me or has banning for using an unofficial HDD? or they are just barring unofficial firmware updates? thanks.

      • No, you'll be fine with a generic hard drive.

    • so what was point of buying it you basically ended up with an arcade for almost double the price

      • and both controllers? what did he play with?

        • maybe he just stared at it

  • is this the arcade version?

    • No.

Seems to be $499 now on their site, what is happening?

    • Agreed. It was $399 late last night. I guess the deal ended yesterday.

  • Yeah, it did…

  • -1

I guess the $399 was an error. Though, I did pretty well this morning :)

Went to DSE yesterday but they no longer accept Creditline. Price goes up today so I return in the hope the store price remains at $399. They say $499, I say that can't be right, I was here yesterday and..

The manager walks up and tells me because I asked for them to hold onto one, they'll honour the price. But I didn't. :P

  • So anyone know if these can be modded or Jtaged or whatever the newest/best way to do it is?

  • This was seriously a ridiculously good deal. Anyone who's been waiting to buy an Xbox should have bought this deal because it cant get any better than this. 250GB is awesome to have, especially if you're gonna download demos, Arcade games and install games to the hard disk. 2 controllers and a great game as well. It even trades for 60 bucks (store credit) in EbGames and 48 in JbHiFi.

In all ways, the most awesome deal. I asked my friend to get it, but he put it off till today, and the deal was gone. All credit to the poster. Awesome find and thanks for sharing. It made me really envious of those people that got it because now my Elite looks inadequate haha…

  • Thanks very much for this deal, for anyone interested in brisbane maybe try springwood store, call first and mention you saw the deal on this website. I did it first thing this morning and was lucky enough to score one. Forgot to ask if there were any left though?

  • Had one put on hold yesterday and picked it up today at Mac Square in Sydney had heaps left it was back up to $499 but the guy said he could hook me up with the other price so got it today for the $399 price

  • I have to say I am one of those who missed this deal yesterday. I called burwood DSE around 4pm and asked them to put one on hold for me, but when I got there they said they only have arcade version and asked me to try mac square, but it was too late to get there. I got up early today and called mac store but they are not willing to offer $399 price anymore. Sigh!

I know I should call mac yesterday!

  • iNTERESTING

Macquarie Centre (North Ryde) still had the $399 price up today - but no stock!

    • By saying "still had the $399 price up today", do you mean $399 price tag in store, had you been there?

      • Yes I physically went to the shop and the price tag was still on display but there was just an empty space next to it where assumably the last one had been kept.

  • I got myself one of these today( Saturday ) for $399. Im on the Goldcoast Q.L.D, I grabbed one off the shelf it scanned for $499 on the system… the staff were keen on selling it to me for that price!
But I'm pretty sure they have to sell it for the displayed shelf tag price ? "clearance $399".

I got it $399 with minimal fuss.Yay ! Pretty good deal since i was going to buy a bare arcade console for $299.

So yea if you lucky enough to have a store with some in stock and the $399 yellow tag id be quick before they bin the tags.

    Cheers for the Find!

  • Did anyone score one of this consoles today(Saturday) in NSW without a request of holding on previous day, please let us know where about, I had been waiting for this so long but unfortunately missed it.

    Cheers

I was able to get the bundle today(Saturday) as well. I didn't hold the item the previous day and there seem to be no problem of me getting the bundle.

The only thing I did was called them and they said the bundle was marked down on Friday but Head Office changed the price today and was not sure what was happening, after all that they said they still sell it for yesterday's advertised price.

Also just like dsm ninja I got the $399 shelf tag on the bundle and it was scanned as $499 but was able to claim it was $399 with no fuss due to the price tag. Funny thing is I still got the clearance price tag on the box when I brought it home as proof.

As said above if they still have those yellow tags tomorrow on the bundle you might be able to get the deal try to get there in the morning. My store was Nunawading, Victoria with 3 bundles left.

  • I was lucky to have put a hold on it yesterday and they honoured it. I even gave them extra 60 bucks for extended warrantty for 5 years because it's cheap already so why not spending a little bit extra for peace of mind. However, the saleman did try to convince me that xbox 360 are very likely to fail, and he had the forth xbox already. What an honest man!!!

    Thanks the OP :)

    • dude pretty sure he was lying or doing some mysterious with those xbox 360s. Mine is still going fine since launch =/

  • Got one today at DSE Knox. Price was stickered at $399 and got it no problems.

  • No NSW store?

  • i know its a bit late but i think the cost price on these is less than $399, cause my mate got it for $399 and half price warranty. i sell electronics too and i think DSE uses the same company (product cover?) and you cant mark down on the warranty, it comes out of the product. so he got it for $369 and $60 for warranty (effectively the warranty was "half price") this must mean that there is still margin on it. unless dse operates like Jbhifi where they are allowed to sell below cost for good reason (like sell warranty) as long as they make up for it later.

i shud also note he went and refunded the warranty so he technically only paid $369 for it lol

also does dse have a price match policy. like if one of us scans the receipt and they match it

    • Warranties are essentially "free" for companies and extended warranties are where electronic companies make a bulk of profit (i.e. charging 200$ for a 3 year warranty, on a product with a failure rate of less-than-5%.. you do the math) They can definitely afford to reduce the warranty prices in most cases.

  • I brought two today from chullora store but had them on hold from last week. Great find . Thanks heaps . From what im told there is no more in sydney and that price was a one day sale.

  • Hey guys
