  • Damn "a new user promotion is already applied to this account" cause I used the Free $20 off First Ride for Canberra deal posted earlier. Not sure if I can remove the $20 promo and apply this one?

    • sorry for not posting earlier - no you can't, need to create new account

      • No problem, not your fault. I take it I can't just delete and recreate my account either, my mobile number is tied to this account?

        • account verification / fraud detection is based upon email, mobile, payment details

arrrgh, unfair. Frauds need affordable transport too. Iyam, whatIyam.

        • You've got to love the good old Nokia 5110's

    • What about if you have used uber once but didn't use a promo code would it work?

      • no: used uber => not a new user :)

    • I was in an Uber and the driver unexpectedly went through a toll and charged me.

I have taken this route on many occasions in a taxi and never gone through the toll so be careful.

      • Send Uber an email and they will refund you. We got an email two days after our driver went the wrong way on our journey and had our fare refunded.

        • I did contact them and they refused to refund me.

I found Uber's customer service to be very bad. We went back and forth over several emails and I did not receive a refund or satisfactory outcome.

I used to be a fan of theirs but I avoid them now unless absolutely necessary.

        • @arcticmonkey: sorry to hear :(

  • I never used Uber before - so if I create an account now and apply the promo code - can I use the service lets say after 2 months?

  • Any way in the app to know if its applied

    • Not in the app that I saw other than trying to apply another "first time user" code and having it rejected because this one is already applied - risky though because if there was any issue with applying this code then it will apply the newer one.

Your best bet is to login to the website. If you only have your phone you can probably do it via the browser on there. Under payment it will show like this

Can uber be used to take a ride to anywhere? (E.g. Melbourne airport)

    • yes - as long as you're willing to pay :)

Ah, shame I did not see this while I was at the Sydney airport eariler. Already home by train. Bloody expensive ticket…

  • Thanks :)

Gee, it's all a bit clunky. Nowhere to enter the SMS code in the app, verified mobile via a 'go' txt reply as per instructions but the website doesn't acknowledge it. Hope it works when I need it for the Chrissie party… :\

    • app will request the sms'd 4-digit pin if/when required :)

      • OK, thanks. :)

While trying to work out where to put it I accidentally booked a guy and had to cancel straight away. I feel bad for mucking him around. :\

Yes thank you for this. I never used uber before and was waiting for a $30 off ride that I need for Monday. Been searching for a week. only ones i found was $20 so I've been holding out hoping that a better offer would come on the weekend.

Does anyone know if the the amount left over can be used for your 2nd ride?

    • +3

no, it's a ride voucher not credit

  • Can anyone help me. It says my phone number has already been registered on uber and It wasn't me. I never registered for uber before and I remember about 6 weeks ago, I received a random txt from uber to confirm my account which was weird cos It wasn't me. :(

Anyone know if there is any way for me to get my number registered on uber?

    • +1

      try contacting uber

    • Is it a new phone number?

      • Not a new number but It's a premium number with the same 2 numbers repeated over and over so i guessed it was someone putting a random number on the sign up.

  • what areas do they cover in Sydney, only inner Sydney? or everywhere?

    • anywhere - it's up to the driver :)

  • So I added the code and it said it was added to the account. Is there anyway of viewing this to make sure it stays in the account?

  • Can this be used in SA?
We only have UberBlack here :(

  • Does making a new account work on same mobile? I'm assuming it doesn't as long it does not detect same ISp? Or maybe using vpn?

  • Thanks OP

  • Our Nanny State despises Uber, and seems to be trying to shut them down. Everything the State cannot control, it seeks to destroy.
