what is the difference between the Lunar White controller and Halo 5 Limited Edition controller functionality-wise?
The same as what's the difference between Halo 5 Limited Edition controller & a normal controller. Just a different paint job. :-p
The Lunar White has one added benefit of having rubber on the back where you grip the controller. So a bit more than a paint job. I do get sweaty, but my hands rest in my lap or on my legs. I'm not waving it around so not really of benefit to me, but others might find it handy.
I have this controller (got it with the Halo X1 console), and while it looks great and the lines are actually etched in, the paint gives the controller a slightly different texture - a tiny bit less 'grippy' and matte, and more of a gloss feel. It's a small thing, but it does feel slightly slipperier and 'sweatier'.
Just thought I'd out that out there - looks great, but a marginally less pleasant feel than the standard unpainted controllers.
Do you still recommend it or think it's better to stick with black controller?
It's still a fantastic looking controller and if you're a big Halo fan or collector it's nice to have, but if the look isn't your top priority the price premium over standard controllers (at least in ozbargain prices) isn't really worth it.
It's kind of just a "you can feel it's paint" sort of thing. The lazer etching of the lines and hex pattern is cool though.
