  • Thanks for posting this. I'm wondering whether lots of catalogues next week are going to go missing from people wanting more than one copy of the barcode. It's great to get the specials early but it's now even harder to keep track of which specials are on when.

    • +2

Not sure how many people around would steal the catalogue so that they can spend an extra hundred?

      • +1

Is it a unique barcode? I assume you would be able to scan the same barcode again

        • I am guessing the staff take the barcode from you once it is scanned.

Some people spend over $200 per week in one shopping trip. If these people had two catalogues they could make two transactions and get $10 off each transaction.

        • @pointscrazy:
Correct, I used one this morning, she asked manager, and was told to remove barcode from catalogue.

        • Thinking about this, not sure why they do it, the catalogue is on-line, what's to stop you printing it off? Nothing, I know I don;t get it delivered, so it would be the only way except for how I got it this morning, which was in-store.

  • +1

The Westfield cards deal sounds interesting. If I recall correctly there is a purchase cost for these cards but this is less than $10. Wesfield cards can be used in more stores at Westfield than they used to. There was a time when most of the major stores at Westfield wouldn't take these giftcards but now some of them do. It's best to check at the centre closest to you which ones take the card. You'll make less than $10 on the deal but this is the closest I've seen this deal come to "free money".

It's like the Visa Prepaid deal that Coles did a couple of years ago where you got a $10 voucher to use at Coles after paying for a $50 pre paid Visa card plus the activation fee.

I'm guessing there is a limit of one gift card and bonus $10 off per Woolworths Reward card. I'll be interested in reading the terms and conditions when they come out.

    • -2

The service fee for each card is $2.95

      • Seriously? If you buy a Westfield gift card at Woolworths, they'll charge you $2.95 to activate it? What a crap deal.

        • +1

Its the exact same deal as if you bought a Westfield gift card at Westfield. No way to get around the service charge. There is a reason why Coles/Woolies are able to offer bonuses on 3rd party gift cards. There are clearly commissions (and decents ones at that) involved.

      • +3

        $5.95

    • -1

You CANNOT use Westfield cards in Myer, even though the Myer is inside a Westfield shopping centre. That's for sure.

      • Pretty sure the same applies for Coles/Woolies.

Don't know about the other Wesfarmers/Woolworths owned brands ie Kmart, Big W etc

        • +2

That was the case several years ago. I don't think Coles take Westfield cards however I think Woolworths does but it may vary from centre to centre. That's why the current terms and conditions need to be checked.

      • You CANNOT use Westfield cards in Myer

You can. I used westfield GC's 6 months ago at a Myer's that was not in a westfield shopping center

        • The Myer located in Sydney Central Westfield didn't accept it. I went back to the Westfield reception and complain about it. They show me a policy fine print that said Westfield gift card is NOT accepted in Myer.

Can you tell us which Myer in which Westfield you went to ?

        • @coprocessor8087:

          Bankstown.

Unless they recently changed the T&C's, they should still accept them

        • @coprocessor8087: When did you try using it at Sydney Myer? I rang up Myer last week to enquire, and they said yes. Also on the Westfield website, it says "Myer, Level 3" as one of the stores that accept the Westfield gift card.

        • @abbz0id: That was less than 2 weeks ago. I do not believe "Myer, Level 3" accept, but "Myer, Level 1-2, 4-6" not accept. Given this card need activation fee, Myer gift card is the way to go if you want to be sure and maximize the discount.

        • @easternculture: Bankstown has a Westfield? Thought it was a Centro?

        • +1

          @sixnout:

Yes Centro . But they were happy to accept the Westfield gc

        • +2

@coprocessor8087: Just used it at the beauty department at Myer this morning, and they accepted a Westfield gift card. :)

20% off $30 PSN cards is a great deal. Bought a few when Coles had the same deal a while back.

These rarely go on special, so if you need to renew your PSN subscription, this is about as good as it gets deal wise.

    • Get the new Bloodborne expansion for $24.

          Crappy game

        • +4

@devang153: You're entitled to your opinion but it's not a bad game, just look at the reviews.

        • +1

          Terrible post and ugly grammar.

        • +6

Let us cleanse these foul streets.

    • Yeah was looking here yesterday for any deals on them.

So they are $24 on the shelf, don't need any coupon or $100 spend?

      • If it's anything like the Coles deal they will have $30 pre paid cards and scan at $24.

    • How long do these last? My PS Plus doesn't expire until June.

      • +1

Not sure, but you can always just add the credit to your PSN account and let it sit there.

Alternatively, you can buy another year's sub with this credit and it'll add to your existing sub (so the expiry wouldn't be until 2017).

        • +3

theres a cap of $200 on yur PSN account.

Also, don't forget you can get Wish giftcards for 5% off at cashrewards, and a few other places

        • +1

          @Curiosity:
So there's no issue purchasing psn cards with a wish card?

        • @Curiosity:
Are you able to buy PSN cards with Wish giftcards?
I remember reading something about not being able to buy cards with cards.

        • What's the difference between PSN and PS Plus? I can't seem to find clear definitions online

        • +1

          @fairyprincess:

PSN is Sony's online network - PSN cards give you funds to buy games, avatars, movies etc from the store. You can also use the funds to buy/renew a PS subscription.

PS Plus is a subscription service that enables you to play multiplayer, gives you extra discounts in the PSN store, and gives you "free"* games each month.

*You get to keep the games, but can only access them while you have an active PS Plus subscription.

        • +2

@legiong: I just did, I bough 3x$30 cards, discounted to $78 and paid for by eWish Giftcard at the self checkout (which I bought at 5% off too)

I also spent over $100 by buying extra chocolate on special and saved another $10 with the 'CATALOGUE' code

        • @running on empty:
Damn! I didn't realise about the $10 off over $100! I did use the 5% off to get the wishcards though.

        • @running on empty:
Please remind how to get the 5% off the cards?
These heones you can use at DM too?

        • @albanyson: You can buy Woolworths wish gift cards at 5% off on the cashrewards.com.au website by being a member. There are threads on here about cashrewards, just do a quick search. They are standard woolworths gift cards, can be used in Big W, Woolworth Petrol etc

        • @running on empty:
I'm already on cash rewards, must have missed the gift card offer.
          I'll head back there now.

      • 12 months from date of purchase generally. But yeah you can leave the credit in your PSN wallet and it won't expire.

  • +10

Stay away from that "Best Restaurants of Australia" rubbish card. The site is doing review on thousands of restaurants, BUT this card is ONLY accepted in very few restaurants in each state. When you do a search, you find the name of the restaurant on the site, and you think you can use the card there, BUT it is just a review, you need to actually check a small list of accepted restaurants on another link. BE WARNED !!

    • +2

      thanks for the heads up!

    • +1

It's the same with the Good Food Gift Card.

      • Err, the good food gift card is actually very good mate, I use the discounted ones all the time.

        • +2

          where do you use them

        • What are you talking about?
The name of the good food gift card and the website gives you the impression that it can be used at any of the restaurants in the good food guide. However, reality is that only a few of them accept the card, and others that did not make the cut to go in the book also accept the card.
How is that not the same?

        • @easternculture:

Ok just had a quick look to refresh my memory on some of the places I have used it:

Kazbah, Quay, Kobe Jones, Manta, Otto, Bennelong, Aki's, Opera bar, Catalina, Customs House, Spanish Tapas, Jonahs, Icebergs, Bridge Room

Don't get me wrong I don't eat at all these places every day, most are for special occasions like Quay etc where 20% off a $450 degustation for 2 means a $90 discount - nothing to be laughed at. If you're a 'paired wine' type of diner your bill would be higher still so all the more better if you can get 20% off.

Others are more regular like Opera, Customs etc, where typically a group of us would go out, have a great night at a great venue, I'll pay with the discounted gift cards and split the bill at the discounted rate with my mates - everyone wins!

That said, it doesn't need to be all exxy joints, I've used this at Abhi's and Sicilian as well out west Sydney way.

        • @ccrap:
          https://goodfoodgiftcard.com.au/Restaurants/Search
Attica, no. 1 ranking restaurant in the good food guide isn't there.
Vue de Monde, no. 2 ranking restaurant in the good food guide isn't there.
Flower Drum, no. 3 ranking restaurant in the good food guide is there.
1/3 hit rate out of the 3 3-hatted places.
          Need I continue?

    • Hmm my experience is actually somewhat different. I don't dine out too often (at pricier places) but on occasions when I do, I find that the Best Restaurants GC is useable about 20% of the time.

For example, I've used it at Red Spice Road in Melbourne, Bondi Pizza in Top Ryde Sydney (useable at other Bondi Pizzas too), and one of the cheaper places you can use it at is Umi Sushi (Darling Harbour/Event Cinemas George St).

If you either know you're gonna use it at one of the restaurants, then it's fine.
And even if you don't know of a time you'll be using it, if you eat out at "decent" restaurants at least once a month, I think you will find a use for it within its expiry (12 months)

  • Great post EC and DJ Pigeon. Thank you.

  • Are you able to purchase gift cards using 10% off wish gift cards?

    • +1

yes, just buy a $1 item and bundle it with the same transaction as the GC.

      Use self service checkout too

      • So this would work for the already reduced psn cards too if I wanted to get a further 5% off?

      • I have purchased PSN cards on their own (no $1 item etc..) with WishGift card via Cashrewards. From memory I converted the eGift card to a physical card first, then went in and got the PSN card though a normal human checkout.

    • +2

      |10% off wish gift cards| ? where did you get that ?

    • Where are you getting 10% off gift cards? i'm stuck with 5% like a loser!

  • Westfield gift card is very interesting. There's a woolies in my local westfield. Buy a $50 wish gift card with 5% off using ent book ($47.50). Then purchase a $50 westfield gift card for $50 with $10 off next shop.. $60 worth of groceries for $47.50 isn't too bad.

Any other ideas to maximise this offer? :0

    • lets see if they have another offer link this for next week

    • +2

      Westfield gc requires fee.

    • They sell $50 card as $56.95.

  • +2

    25% Vodafone Recharge.

    Nice !!

  • Can you still use everyday rewards card to receive qantas points?

    • -1

The receipt this week starts saying "you have earned xx everyday rewards point", rather than the QFF point mentioned before, so I guess this has automatically switched over already.

      • Which card did you scan?

      • Check your old and new cards - mine had the same barcode, so should make no difference which card you use.

      • You still earn QFF points until 31 Dec, and you'll (potentially) earn Woolies dollars in addition to it.

(I negged you because it's inaccurate info)

edit: Just realised wxyz below me mentioned it

      • Hang on… The new rewards scheme doesn't have points!

    • Until Dec 31

  • Anyone knows if the $10 off next purchase deal includes Steam wallet card?

  • Or eb games gift cards?

  • +1

20% off Good Food GCs is pretty good, as is the $10 credit with purchasing Best Restaurant/Myer GCs.

$10 off $100 spend is good too!

Westfield one looks good on the surface.. but after factoring in the fee is meh.

In my experience, Westfield GCs are accepted at Woolies but not Coles (tried at Coles last week, hoping they had jumped on board.. but nope)

  • Can you buy multiple $50 (same company) gift cards in separate transactions and receive $10 off next purchase for each transaction ? I think they may limit each EDR account to have 1 of each different company gift card only ?

    • Similar offer last week was one $10 off offer redemption per EDR member:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/216294#comment-3165350

That is not once for each brand of gift card per EDR account, but one offer redemption per EDR account.

If you have multiple EDR accounts you can do one redemption per account. I got multiple $10 credits buying DJs gift cards using different accounts.

      • What about grabbing a handful of EDR new cards at the checkout and doing it that way? Do you need a unique email for each card?

I'm after a stack of Freedom gift cards and this could be a nice little sweetener, once you combine with 5% off Entertainment book

        • Don't they have to be activated??

        • @albanyson: I don't think so, otherwise you couldnt grab one at the check out and get the fuel discount!

        • @jellykingdom:
          Hadnt noted that.
Based on that…..no reason then that each of those cards would not have a $10 off next purchase.

Make sure to split shopping into small purchases and use each card maximizing the $10 off each one

        • @albanyson: Yeah i figure i can just try it and see what happens. i don't have anything to lose really, only to gain

        • @jellykingdom:
          Has this worked?
Using the separate new EDR Rewards cards?
Did you get $10 from each one?

Looking at $200 shop at BCF. Could potentially get $40 off future shopping.

        • @albanyson: Just realised that no, i haven't tried yet

        • @jellykingdom:
          Standing by 😉

  • +1

Would I be able to buy 5 $30 PSN cards to get the $10 off my purchase, bringing the price down from $120 to $110 further increasing the discount from 20% off to something like 26.6%?

    • I doubt it. A PSN Card is considered a gift card, so it'll probably be excluded.

    • +2

      Yes. It does work.
I brought 4 cards with groceries and $10 came off

  • I would like to know this also :)

  • Dear OZBargains,
If I will to buy $1000 dollars of Myer GC,
Does this mean I will get:-
    $100 of vochers/ Rewardscard$ under this terms
::- "$10 off Next Shop with $50 Gift Card Purchase" ?
    Thank you for your advice.

  • Is there any way to know which stores do/don't carry gift cards? Particularly PSN cards.
I want to get in early tomorrow, but I don't want to go to every store in the city.

  • +1

Just picked up 4 from Woolworths Eastgardens, they had plenty of stock left. Normal price - $120
    With OzB price - $96
With $30 gift card from MyOpinions - $66
That's a year of PS Plus sorted and $50 for Christmas Sales. Thanks OP

    • +1

did you try using the $10 voucher off the catalogue when you purchased the PSN cards?

      • +1

        Don't worry
I tried it and it works.
Paid $86 for 4 cards worth $120 plus groceries of course

        • Damn I wish I did, could've grabbed a drink for $4 and paid $60 total
