oh damnnnnn TA! setting us up

    • +4

TA - did you get a job at CR??

      • +1

        Why neg my legitimate question?

Is TA employed by CR? Or do you have a financial arrangement with CR? Or is it something else???

        • +4

          Read about it here

        • @amsut1: while reading that story, i was worried that he was going to become loosearse based on where it was going

Thought andrew was going to hotcosby him

        • @furythree: Hmm.. Didn't realise it the first time! It makes sense why you feel that way when I re-read the forum post: He could sense in my voice something was wrong, so I told him I'd just been given notice my job had been off-shored. He told me to get on a plane to Sydney to meet and discuss a few things with him. I was blown away. What was close to being the worst day of my life, was quite possibly turning out to be the best.

So a few days later, off I went to Sydney. We met, we spoke, and we spoke some more

        • +1

@amsut1: thanks amsut- that's perfect. TA posts so much, when I looked for this story under his posts I couldn't find it.

  • This works well with the 20% sale on now, and my 10% coupon I got :P

    • +5

I suspect you won't be able to use couple that you have + 20% off in single transaction.

    • yeah it wont work

tried to buy another Dyson Dc45. masters jacked their price up to $449.

      • Same. Was looking at Dyson and then I saw the price.. Knobjockeys!

This makes the consoles deals even better! Keep up the good work :)

  • That would be me….reckon one of the first to use this this morning!

  • Thanks TA!!

  • +1

What does Cash rewards get out of this? Can we expect spam and our details to be on-sold etc? What is the juicy stuff in the t&c's that I should be aware of?

    • +3

They get more than 3.5% from Ebay for sending business that way. The difference is theirs to keep.

  • Arrrr ….. didn't see the post before I just made my eBay purchase

    • +1

Did you make your purchase via the Cashrewards site? If you did, you'll get the full 3.5% back.

      • No unfortunately I simply used my eBay app. Next time I'll do better! Thanks for your prompt response

  • Thanks TA

  • +15

My purchase for $2500 did not track during the previous 4% eBay cashback promotion (even though the previous 29/30 and all subsequent purchases have.

Hopefully it is not deliberate and just a coincidence/bad luck my largest purchase is the only one to I have ever not track.

Good to see this deal but won't be factoring in the cashback amount for any future purchases.

    • +2

Haven't got mine for a recent large purchase either yet…

    • +1

Funny that Wheb I bought a mac mine wasn't tracked either…. When I asked the answer was standard "eBay always tracks blah blah". So basically I missed on approximately $30 cash back :(

    • email them

similar thing happenned to me and they "investigated" month later i forgot about it but they emailed to say the purchase was verified and i was creditted

    • +1

Same thing happened to me too! All my little Ebay purchases have tracked except for a laptop I bought on Ebay last month. When I emailed Cashrewards I got the following reply:

Please note that eBay has a 'No Enquiry Policy' (as listed under Special Terms on their store page), so if cashback still has not been awarded to > your account 7 days after the date of purchase; something has gone wrong along the way, and your transaction hasn't tracked. If this occurs, we > > are unable to award cashback rewards for your purchase. Please see the store page for more information.

Although other larger cashbacks not on Ebay around $50-$100 did manage to come through successfully.

      • Me too! I bought the Canon D1200 and this happened to me but the CB for the sd card and camera bag tracked. WTF!

    • Velocity has a bonus of 4 points per $1 instead of the usual 2 points. Once I factor in CR don't always pay up (I'm not saying foul play, probably just a glitch) and velocity do pay up I see a clear winner.

If anyone has a better idea I'm all ears in this percentage game we play:)

I think things will improve a CR and glad TA is on board.

    • +3

Hi Olukun. Could you please PM me your CR's email address. I'd like to find out what happened to the one purchase you missed. I can guarantee you there is nothing deliberate by CR to hold up any payment. Quite simply, if you don't get paid, neither does CR. I'm trying to make this as transparent as possible to you guys. Thanks.

      • hey tightarse, I missed out on the last 4% CR deal also, over 3k spend on two separate occasions. Seems to always be conveniently the higher priced purchases as I have 'never' had a missed transaction from CR before. I did also contact the CR team however they say no deal. Will it make any difference for you to follow up again? i'd rather not waste anyones time and CR resources if what I've been told is final. Cheers.

  • +8

Hi TA, I reckon one of the best things you could do to CR is to improve their pending transactions - I have some pending since August and still not cleared.
Have had to send multiple emails in the past as well to "manually" clear each transaction.

    • +2

Agreed. There needs to be a way for these to be actioned without manual intervention. Seems a waste of the customer's and CR's time.

    • +2

Yes please look into that, some of them can take so long, and a few of mine which I followed up due to failure to track still not been confirmed by the store after 90+ days.

    • +4

It's something we're definitely working on. The main issue is the turnaround time from our affiliated stores with payment. eBay is one of the fastest. Cashback on eBay sales takes on average 45 days after purchase to be payable to your account.

      • +1

RewardsCentral have the ability to enter your purchase details if it's not tracked. That way they can manually marry up the timings of the registration and the purchase. If eBay are doing the dirty on large transactions, at least you'd be able to prove it. RewardsCentral actually pay out when purchases are proven, so maybe they get eBay to as well.

    • I have transactions pending all the way back to May! Don't know what the hold up is and I just get the same 'it takes up to 45 days' response from cashrewards even though it is well past 45 days..

      • +1

Hi Gozzhogger. Please PM me your CR's email address and I'll personally look into this. Also copy/paste your comment above into the PM. Thanks.

        • Hey TA, I'm really sorry but I wrote you a PM, however Ozbargain won't let me start a new conversation with you since I'm overseas. Is it possible you could PM me first so I can just reply?

          Thanks :)

        • @Gozzhogger: Done.

        • @tightarse:

Thanks again TA for looking into my account's transactions for me, I really appreciate the help. I can see why you're such a legend here on ozbargain, keep up the good work :)

  • +1

    Thanks TA!

  • +1

just wondering how do these cashback websites earn profit? can anyone tell me

    • +3

I would assume the the rebate they give is actually from the customer

ie they charge ebay 5% and give back 3.5%

I could be miles off, but ebay will be paying Cash Rewards some sort of fee.

    • Ask TA

    • referrals and advertising I'm guessing, like another mass group buy site with group in the name (don't want to do free advertising). basically they inform / collect customers and refer them on to sellers, the sellers pay for the referral as selected advertising.

    • I'd also assume the interest on the 'pooled' funds in the CR account earns interest whilst it remains 'unclaimed' in your account.

If it takes 45 days (Minimum) to clear to us, do we know how long CR have had the funds in a pooled Trust Account?

      • +3

Hi HelpWanted. Trust me, there are no 'pooled funds'. We pass on the payments as soon as our stores have approved & locked the transaction.

    • +3

Hi Zfan111222. It's really a simple model. We receive a commission from our stores and we then share the majority with our members.

  • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/218850 how do i receive the cashback by purchasing this ? not sure how this works

    • +6

Hi megasteve. Best way is to copy the eBay URL (in this case www.ebay.com.au/itm/181917363902), then click into Cashrewards (www.cashrewards.com.au/ebay-australia) and click the Go to store button. Once in eBay again, paste the URL into the address bar and purchase. Do not navigate away from eBay, and if possible, turn off any ad-blockers.

      • +1

Hi TA. can you guys just hurry up and make an app already for purchases since all these URLs and windows are hell on mobile devices. Just take my money…and then give me some of it back again.

      • "Turn off any ad blockers"

What's the reasoning behind this? Is this monitored, or are you just trying to ensure that eBay get some revenue for their discount?

    • +3

or just copy ebay item no such as 181917363902 and then go to cash rewards, search ebay, click ebay and paste the item no. click buy now and pay. done :)

  • maybe an unrelated question to this sale, can CR work with ebay auction too and how do I do it?

    • Yes, any winning bid is eligible for Cashback. Just make sure you follow the same procedures I mentioned here.

  • +3

Im a bit dissapointed with Cashrewards. Most of my purchases through ebay are not tracked. All of my purchses through Dan Murphys are.

  • Hi TA,
I purchased something just before this 3.5% promo. Can I still be honoured with the 3.5% instead of 2.5% ?
    Any idea please? Thanks

    • +1

Hi jeejija. As long as you made your initial purchase via Cashrewards, yes you will get the full 3.5% back. I've mentioned this in the description of the post.

      • Thanks a lot :)

  • Hey TA, do you get cashback off the pre discount amount??

    • +1

Hi blackvelvit. Generally with eBay yes. So with today's 20% sale, you're actually saving 23.5%.

      • -2

Not quite, The actual saving is 22.8%

        100-20% = 80

        80-3.5% = 77.2

        100-77.2 = 22.8

        • +3

3.5% is off the pre-discounted amount. So 3.5% cashback on 100, then 20% off 100.

        • -1

          @tightarse: nice!

  • Dammit did all my ebay sprawling before reading this, went to sign up for an account and realized i already had one….. just missed out on 3.5% of $320 :(

  • +4

good luck getting your item tracked im 2 out of 10, seems like im not the only one

    • +1

Yeah im about 3 from 10.

      • +1

always use a fresh browser when doing cashback - good use for safari/i.e as I never use them otherwise

        • +1

Yeah started using a browser just for this see how i go

    • Im 10/10..
Just takes forever for cashback to switch from pending

  • Do you get cashback when using ebay vouchers? I still have my $100 voucher from last month.

    • +1

Yes I used my $100 voucher and got cashback on the full amount.

  • Thanks a bunch TA, awesomeness!

  • -2

Are you able to squeeze an extra .1%?

    • .1%

      Only .1? hardly worth it

      • +1

Tell that to the Bitcoin faucet collectors. They collect 100 satoshis at a time, which is 0.000001 of a Bitcoin, something like $0.0006. And there are lots of them.

      • I think I'll have to start linking to ozb references…

  • +4

Its been a over 3 months and still haven't seen my $78.68 move from Total Rewards to Available now…

    • Same…

    • +3

I am still waiting on my purchase from Apple online to move from pending - purchased in April. And they completely removed the Apple purchase I made in June (it was there then a week later completely gone)….

      • +1

Hi luztra please PM me your CR's email and I'll follow up.

    • +3

Have not been paid for Telstra purchases and its now over 90 days https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/205519

      • +1

Hi unity, please PM me your CR's email and I'll follow up.

        • Thanks TA. I have already previously sent an email to customer service. If it's not sorted out in the next week or 2 I will let you know. Thanks again.

        • +1

@unity1: Will gladly follow up. Thanks.

    • +1

lilan, please PM me your CR's email and I'll follow up.

  • Congratulations once again TA. Keep bringing us more bargains. Thanks.

  • Thanks TA - and well done on the new job!!

  • Well done, thanks TA!

  • Also purchased last week via cashrewards, and like others in this post it hasnt shown up or tracked for me either. Never had any trouble before that so not sure what's going on.

    • Hi xccxxx. Which particular store is this in reference to? Please pass on the details and I'll look into it.

      • Thanks TA. Accessed ebay via the cashrewards site (by pressing on go to store). The actual product was this:
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Breville-The-Original-74-Sandwich…

(i bought two of them, total cost was $189.90), It was bought on November 3rd.

        • Don't worry. If you purchased after mid-last week, we've had a delay in processing of eBay transactions, but we're expecting to be able to process this backlog later today.

        • @tightarse:

Cheers, no problem at all. Thanks for the quick reply, will check in a week or two and see if it's shown up then. Thanks!

  • +1

Hi TA, I don't care either way but curious are you now on the Cash Rewards pay roll?
If yes, good luck to you. Hard work paid off.
If not you serve the people, well done for your pain staking efforts.

  • Go with shopandmint.com.au instead. It's only 3% but every time I have used shopandmint it has successfully tracked. I've lost alot of tracking with cashrewards when buying stuff on eBay and end up getting nothing at all.

    • Is this on large transactions too? I've missed a $700 transaction with CR on eBay recently.
