Philadelphia Cheese 250g Block $3, Earn $3 in Woolworths Rewards @ Woolworths

1330

Woolworths Rewards Card is required.

Philadelphia 250g cheese blocks are currently on special for $3 (Down from $3.94). However it also earns you $3 in Woolworth Rewards, making it pretty much free.

Not sure if its the same at every store.

Seems to be a display error and is only available at certain stores.

    • What does any of this have to do with the person placing the price sticker on the shelf? Do you think they personally scan every single product to make sure that it matches to whatever price sticker they are putting up?

      • +1

No, think about it this way. There's a dairy manager and workers who change the price labels. No one noticed that a $3 product had a $3 cash back advertised on the same label in bold lettering? There was even a News Limited article published a few days ago about WOW's failures in its new pricing system. It appears no sanity checking of prices is being performed, and Woolworths is happy to give away products for free. What's worse, when the error is brought up the staff refuse to honour the price. At other stores (posted on this forum) workers gave a discount to match the offer.

I am not suggesting for a second that workers should double check all prices and that pricing errors should never occur, but this is a really blatant error that should have been caught somewhere in the country. My local store still had the price tag up at 5pm.

How it's dealt with seems to depend a great deal on the individual store. The 2-IC at the Preston store on Murray Road, VIC (not Northland, the one further up the road/opposite Preston market) was absolutely awesome. I saw the little sign there and grabbed 3… but no mention of the woolies-cash-back at the register or on the receipt. He promptly rang 'HQ', they told him it was an error and to take the little '$3 back' sign down… he told them he would do that, but he also secured an assurance from them that they would credit my 'Rewards Card' with $9, because I'd bought them in good faith etc… which they promptly did :)
He is a real credit to Woolies/very efficient. If anyone from WW is reading this, give that guy a promotion!

  • checked it out in Parabanks SA, also labelled at $3 woolworth dollars, didnt buy cause no need for cream cheese

    • +15

True OzBargainer would have a need for cream cheese. Even if allergic to it.

True OzBargainer would have a need for free cream cheese. Even if allergic to it.

        Fixed it up for you.

Had to call wwRewards they credited me the full amount.

    • Same here. But guy on phone told me it was an error so all the stores are taking it down.

    • +3

Me three. The number is 1300 10 1234.

Interestingly they credited me $12 on top of the $2 that was credited when I made the purchase. So I guess I got paid $2 to buy 4x Philly blocks. Thanks OP!!! :D

I bought 5 blocks and only received the standard $2.50 rewards. I told the staff and they simulated a purchase of another 15 blocks to try and get the rewards $ on to my card to $10 and spent a while confused about how to get my balance above $10 because it would eat it for the next purchase.

Instead, they gave me a gift card for $17.50 (the $2.50 from the cheese @ 50c a block that was already on my card and $15 for the cheese @ $3 block).

I still had $10 on my woolies card too.

I ended up spending $15 (less paywave discount) and being given $27.50.

I was going to tell them to just simulate purchase of 30 blocks to get it all on card in one go but stayed silent when I realised they were giving me more than expected.

        • Plus one for the bonus your way.

No wonder their share price has taken such a hit

These new rewards are awesome. I already got $25 through it. Ten from the weekly draws and I'm also getting double rewards until the end of the year.

    • Lucky Bugger.
Well done. Not so lucky but glad some ones getting the bonus.
My girlfriend refused to but the 28c microwave popcorn claiming she forgot.
I'm going shopping with her from now on.

  • Managed to score 3 packs (fer cheesecaaaaaaake) for free! The guy couldn't be bothered screwing around with vouchers, so just ran it through for me. And left the $1.50 woolies dollars on it as well. :D

  • Local store had $3 on the sticker but scanned at 50c :/

  • the Woolworths dollars on these should have been 50c. Guessing the tickets will be updated tomorrow

  • Got no Woolworths $$$ on the 6x packs I bought - ended up with a 'wish card' instead. Must of just snuck in before they took down the placard.

  • I got 10 of them just now from Melton store.. scanned to 50C WW dollars but when I called rewards team they credited me with total $30 … :) happy I am but now no idea what to do with it as no one in my home know how to make cheese cake and I already have enough cheese in fridge..no idea what excuse I need to make to support my purchase… :(

I got 3 at my local today but no rewards. I'll ring them tomorrow.

As an aside, if you want the easiest recipe of all time here it is.

2 packets of biscuits, eg Tim tams or mint slice. (Pick one flavour at a time)

    1 block softened cream cheese.

Add to food processor. Mix til combined.

Roll in to balls and coat in sprinkles if you like.

If the mix is too soft to roll into balls pop in the fridge for a little while

    • Sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing :-)

  • How long it takes you guys to receive the $10 Rewards after calling them?

I made my purchase at 9:45PM, called them at 9:50-10:00PM and the staff put $10 rewards manually in my account.

Go back to shop again and doesn't take $10 OFF?????

this will be known as PHILLYGATE !! ;)

  • I didn't see this post just went an did my shop thought what a bargain. Checked my receipt in the car before I left no rewards. They treated me like I was a cheapskate and said I could only return the product. Which I did but I am so annoyed Grrrr!

    • Did they scan your Woolworths rewards card when they processed the refund? If they didn't then you should still get the amount of Woolworths dollars which was supposed to be on the orange ticket.

      • I have taken away my neg I messaged them and they credited me $9 so I'm happy. What's better than free cheese free money. Still concerned that I have to check up every time.

I went to Woolies today. Sign up as pictured at top of deal saying $3.00 and earn $3.00. Meaning technically its free. Plus I get double woolworths dollars. Went thru. Didn't get the woolies dollars so I rang Woolies Rewards and they credited the amount to my account. No point talking to staff at the stores. Not their area. Easier to call up Woolworths Rewards and they will honour the deal at least while the signs are still displayed I guess. So thanks once again for all the info. Great bargain!

    • I called them up but the guy didnt want to give me anything!! he was like well you can take them back… will call back later

      • You'd expect their customer service to be better than that. They have it advertised instore so the onus is on them to honour it and if they're unhappy with it then they should take their signs down.

        • Yeah wasn't happy, mentioned that the sign was still up and he said well you can go talk to management at the store about that.
          Lol

        • @shapers: I do feel sorry for the poor bastard having to deal with all the cream cheese calls though. :)

        • +1

@Rod71: hahaha that's true! Went back to my store (was going anyway) and they gave me $12 cash :)

  • I bought a few last night and they only scanned as .50cents rewards for each product so they issued me with a $15 gift card to compensate the lost rewards

  • +1

The end of promotion date is shown as 24/11 on the sticker if you read it, normally the first date is the starting day and the second date is the ending date based on my experience shopping in woolies. I assume this deal is still valid unless it is sold out. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

  • Checked my Reward, only got 50 cents per block. Unfortunately didn't look at receipt and threw it away! Too trusting.

    • +2

      You sound cheesed off.

    • Ring Woolies Rewards. They scan the card and so have all our info anyway. No reason why they shouldnt credit your account with the woolies dollars. You did buy it expecting the woolies dollars. Don't just give up

  • The manager at the store I went to last night gave me a gift card for $12 (bought 4 phillys, must have been before they updated to the 50c reward). I also heard him tell other staff that's what they're supposed to do if the rewards don't scan properly. Mentioned something about their IT dept in India being flooded, their systems had been up and down and can't fix anything.

  • Is this still on? Thanks
