  • Says Temporarily Out of Stock…

    • Showing fine in WA

      • Yeah must be a Mobile Site issue, checked on my PC just now works fine.

  • What's the deal with this? Do you have to bring in an old bottle to exchange when you pick this up? I bought a soda stream a few months back (40L I think?), but it's not empty yet.

  • If it is the entire new cylinder that is cheaper than refill!

    • +1

It works like a swap and go style.. Bring in your empty cylinder and they swap it for a filled one. Cheaper than buying one and good for the environment.

  • Perfect timing! Thanks

  • Dammit, I brought one of these yesterday from Coles, paid a lot more than $15.96. I wonder if I can buy this, use my current cylinder in less than 21 days then collect from Dick Smith.

    • +1

You mean using up the current cylinder you just swapped?!? 60L of fizzy drinks in 21 days is quite an achievement, especially to save $4

      • Yeah that what I meant, just swapped over a cylinder at Coles. I think the Coles swap was near $25

        • +1

BigW is $19 everyday price for the 60L swap.

DSE says it's 20% off at $15.96. Which makes the everyday DSE price $19.95

$25 for a swap is a joke, hopefully there is a BigW or DSE near you

        • @ChickenTalon: There is, however it was after hours and I live in Bunbury. So I ended up paying the lazy tax.

        • @MaKa: right…. Well, if you force yourself to go through 60L of carbonated beverages to save $4 on a refill then you'll be paying another form of tax.

  • thanks op, purchased :D

  • How long can you leave a 'click & collect' item at the store, before you collect it?

    • According to the DSE web site, your order will only be held for 21 days

  • Anyone know if you can exchange a 40L for the 60L?

    • +2

A search of the Sodastream website says that you can swap a 40l for a 60l. You just need to make sure that your model of Sodastream will take the 60l bottle. See what I have copied from the Sodastream website (http://www.sodastream.com.au/faqs/#cylinders)

What are the compatibilty of your gas cylinders with each Sparkling Water Maker?
Our 40 Litre and 60 Litre cylinders are compatible with all of our current models - Evolution, Jet/Stream, Genesis, Dynamo, Pure, Crystal, Penguin, Fizz, Revolution & Source.

If you have an old Sparkling Water Maker and/or are unsure, please call our Customer Care Team on 1300 SODASTREAM Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm or email us at [email protected].

Where can I refill my 40L Gas Cylinder?
Unfortunately 40L refill cylinders are unavailable. If you have a current model machine then it will be compatible with both the 40L and 60L and your 40L gas cylinder can be exchanged for a 60L gas cylinder at all SodaStream stockists.

For more information please contact customer service by calling 1300 763 278 or emailing [email protected].

      • +1

Hmm. I have the Play from the free promo last summer. Need to check the manual as I don't see the play in that list though it is a current model

        • +2

I have the Play sodastream from that promo too. I have been using a 60l in mine without issue.

        • @MaKa:

          Thanks heaps. Will order!

        • I can confirm it fits the play. I too got one in the promo, and have purchased 60L refills for it already.

Maka, you beat me to it!

  • Is it actually most expensive if I just go into the store to exchange my bottle, and don't "buy" it online first?

  • +2

OP, might also want to add that all DSE sodastream products are 20% off.

real deal is here if you don't already have a spare cylinder
    $39.96 for a 60L http://www.dicksmith.com.au/sodastream-60l-user-license-dsau…

    Also:
    twin pack bottles $17.56
    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/sodastream-bottle

    Sodastream Play $79
    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/home-appliances/sodastream-play-…
    Play White Drinks Maker
    Starter Gas Cylinder
    1L Carbonating Bottle
    Flavour sample pack

As well as the flavor caps and syrup bottles

    • +1

I bought 3 1L bottles for under $20 from KMart recently.

    • Dang! New cylinder is out of stock

      • Just worked for me - need to try the web version and not mobile.

  • For those who use their sodastream a lot, this is what I bought to allow my soda stream to connect to 6kg CO2 cylinder (which can be refilled by many home brew shops)
    http://kegking.com.au/co2-cylinders.html

  • Refills are about $50 but for $219, the cylinder arrives FULL.
We got about 1000 litres from our 6kg cylinder before we had to refill it.

I did my calcs before buying it and it boils down to this:
First 1000 litres (setup costs) $300
    Subsequent 1000 litres $50

Since I have used more than 1000 litres, I'm into the savings now but it took a year before we used that much.
Like I said, it depends on whether you use it a lot.
My wife likes drinking soda water and we like to be able to control how sweet the drinks we give the kids (we normally use a quarter to a half of the recommended syrup amount) so for us, this saves us a fair bit of money.

    • Since I have used more than 1000 litres, I'm into the savings now but it took a year before we used that much.

      ~19-20L/week, or nearly 3L/day… really?!

      • Maybe the wife likes bubbly soda water? 2L/day is recommended :P

      • Yep, 1 for wife, 1 for me and 1 shared between the 2 kids … its a rough figure … summer we use more. And since CO2 becomes so cheap, wife makes the drinks extra fizzy.

    • 6 KG of co2 is just over 3000 liters 1 KG co2 = .5058 cubic meters

  • Thanks OP.

Ordered 3 as all 3 of my cylidners are currently empty!

  • If you want to save some big money in long run, this is the way to go, get a converter http://kegking.com.au/freedomone-sodastream-adapter-hose-36i… $89.95 and C02 http://kegking.com.au/co2-cylinders/co2-gas-cylinders-2-6kg-… $189, big start up investment.

But still, you can't beat the savings off your once a week soft drink sales from super market with limited choice of flavors. :)

  • 60 Litre Gas Cylinders are compatible with all current models.

I use this to find participating stores for a swap:
    http://www.sodastream.com.au/locator

I used Kmart last time and it was under $20. Anyway at 20%, ~$3 less, nothing to die for :-)

    • +6

This is a bargain site, nothing political here. :)

        • +1

          Ozbargain gets political with negs!
Do you feel yet where you stand in the Ozbargain house?

        • -4

          @ozy:

I'm fine with comments, but the comment negs are a form of censorship given those that don't log in will not now see what i've said.

Do you feel yet where you stand in the Ozbargain house?

You are suggesting some kind of unified approach to these issues within the rather tiny community of OB. That's quite misguided.

        • +4

There is no more reason to boycott Sodastream for what the registered country is doing than there is to boycott Chinese made Cree torches and Eneloops because you don't agree with Chinese government's attitude to human rights. A bargain is voted on the basis on whether its a bargain - leave politics out of it.

If you want to debate Iraeli/Palestinian politics, go to a forum where they care.

        • -2

          @Trojan:

Thank you for your comment. I suspect you have neg'd mine, but i won't be negging yours - it's all rather petty in my view.

My negative vote is in accordance with OB guidelines - as i said, it's on the basis of "Major issues with retailer". There's no "political" exclusion specified. You're comment is at odds with the guidelines as i read them.

Your analogy isn't especially useful given that. If folk wish to neg Chinese goods on the basis you've disclosed, well that's fine by me.

        • +2

@steamtrain: Incorrect, your negative vote has nothing to do with "Major issues with retailer" which is Dick Smith. That's where we neg'ed you - your comments are not in accordance with Ozbargains policies. All the people who neg'ed you, however, are in accordance with Ozbargain policies. It's your strong desire to push your political agendas which has blinded you to this.

        • @Trojan:

          Good point.

Luckily i also have major issues with Dick Smith, who dicked me around for weeks when i received a DOA speaker system. Hmm, close call there…

        • -1

          @steamtrain:
Feel free to post make comments about Dick Smith who you feel is not a good place to buy from then. I won't neg them :)

        • -7

          @Trojan:

I admit it: i couldn't give a toss about the guidelines. It's not like i'm reading the First Epistle to the Corinthians or something.

You're interfering with my flossing. Bugger off.

        • +2

          @steamtrain:
I think is clear to everyone that you don't give a toss about anything but pushing your own political agenda.
And that is exactly why so many people have neg'ed you.

    • Just shutup! Seriously!

      • -2

What exactly is your point, or don't you have one?

Oppressive States like Israel get away with this sort of thing due to passive apologists such as yourself.

You remind me of those Swiss Gold dealers, who took on extraordinary amounts of dental gold (gold alloy used only in dentistry) during WWII. I imagine they also thought they were getting a bargain, but you didn't need to be a genius to work out why there was so much of it coming out of Nazi Germany.

The explanation here is even more straight forward, you're just choosing to ignore it.

        • +3

Sodastream has no more oppressed the Palestinan people than Smirnoff shot down a Malaysian airliner.
Leave the countries politics out of it.

        • -1

          @Trojan:

          That's a ludicrous comparison.

Didn't i tell you to bugger off?

You've run out of negative votes haven't you? So have i. It's very frustrating isn't it?

        • My point is clear.
Just keep your comments to yourself.
Just don't reply to a thread you have a one sided view on. The world is everyones, to share, with everyone. No person occupies your land and makes sodastream gas bottles, people live and work there who sell the bottles to people like us.
Peace in the West Bank, peace to our bank balances too.

        • @steamtrain:
If you actually read through the rest of my posts on this bargain, you'll see I'm trying to save people money by NOT buying cylinders from Sodastream but giving it to Keg King instead. I am not for nor against Sodastream - Im in the middle. To someone on the extreme left, it may look like I am leaning right but I'm not.

And no I have not run out and no its not frustrating for me - because I'm not desperately trying to push my own political agenda.

  • sorry for noob question…but what do you actually do it? Make soda out of any drink?

    • +1

Makes sparkling water from tap water. You can then add syrups or cordial (or anything) to make it flavoured.

      • +4

I carbonated vodka the other day, added sparkling water and lime cordial, makes it taste like postmix udl cans, without the 200tones of sugar

      • +4

I can carbonate milk, but the kids don't like it

    • +1

      What the?

      • You may have missed this

    • +2

      Just shut up! Seriously!

      • -2

Now you're reminding me of a parrot, seriously!

  • Anyone bought the sodastream unit for a good price lately?

    • +2

I bought a samsung fridge with sodastream dispenser at a very good price recently :) saved over $1300 ;)

      • +1

We go through so much carbonated water we considered buying one of these as well … only thing is the difficulty in connecting my 6kg CO2 cylinder to it :)

  • Thanks OP, ours had just run out :)

  • Still available for me in WA. Thanks OP.

  • still on!!
if you buy 4 or more use TECH10 for an extra $10 off

  • All sodastream is 20% off.. just picked up a new mixer, used the TECH10 discount and it paid for the shipping (as all my locals were out of stock)

  • Hiya. Got a call from DSE at Macquarie Centre NSW. They told me to bring the old cylinder in for a swap and I said it's not worth the trouble. So, money was refunded.

Beware for others, they may give you the problem when you dont bring an empty cylinder.

    Cheers

    • +2

You are buying a re-fill, not a new cylinder.

      What exactly were you expecting?

      • it was my mistake, i thought it came with a brand new cylinder as well.

      • The picture for the link indicates you get a bottle.

    • +1

Pretty sure title says 'refill'… what were you hoping they'd refill exactly?!

  • I had a refill swap done months ago at coles and only charged me $15.

    • they had a special on the 60L ones $16.50
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/169413

      • ok that make sense. since i was a new sodastream user and i thought it's pretty cheap to just do it at coles rather than bringing it to DSE for swap. Hence I cancelled my order.

  • +1

I have 2 spare 60L cylinders (empty) if anyone would like them. Pick up from Sydney Eastern Suburbs. PM me if interested.

  • I just walked into DS and they charged me $15.96, so you don't need C&C

  • Are you meant to hand in your empty bottle in exchange or do they just give you a used refilled canister?

    • +1

Yeah hand in your bottle and get one in return
