Thanks for this post, I was going to buy it. However 2 X HDMI inputs is a deal breaker. What's the go with that?

    • +1

its RRP is $2499 and most stores are selling it for $2000 The Good guys are already the cheapest price at $1498, but once you add the 20% off its a crazy good deal at $1198.40

Yeah I agree, it's so tempting. I already have a games console and a sat box connected to my current TV. I'd be too worried about wanting to add an amp or something else down the track.

It's a great buy, I just think being limited to 2 X HDMI inputs would make this TV unsuitable to a lot of people.

          HDMI switcher ?

        • +3

Then you plug everything into your AVR…

          @SwarleyAUS:

Haha, yep I just came back here to post that!

Just get a $10 auto hdmi switcher off ebay. I've got a couple of them and they work fine. They automatically switch to whichever cable has an active signal, else it obeys the remote, which you can program into a harmony as part of the activity startup.

  • I think I might pick this up. There's a GG around the corner from me and it's available for pickup.
2x HDMI isn't a problem for me - and the bang for buck is pretty unbeatable

Can anyone who has this TV (or another LG 4K) comment on the quality of the screen/picture?

    • Seems like good bang for buck, you're right. From what I can see it's most likely edge lit though, only has single tuner (though that's not really important to many of us) and only one of the inputs is HDMI 2.0 compliant. Doesn't appear to have Freeview either

      • +3

According to the LG website it definitely has FreeviewPlus. Its under key features

We do. ..Managed to score one in the elusive dick smith deal earlier in the year. We love this tv. Crisp images and support for netflix and now Stan too. If we didn't get the other we'd run at this

  • I'll have to look up the edgelit thing, but the rest of it (single tuner, 1x HDMI 2.0) isn't an issue.
I probably should've done my own research, but the list above in the OP says it does have freeview. Hopefully 'johno1987' wasn't pulling my leg!

Oops, yeah he's right… it's not listed in the same place as other models but it's there! Oh, and don't forget to go through Cashrewards! They're doing 3% back for this (and it's usually on the pre-discount price!)

  • 2 HDMI port might be deal breaker - I've got PS3, PS4, Roku 3 & Chromecast.

  • I bought the 49" for $719 minus 3% cashrewards

    edit: 49LF6300

    • how do you apply the cashrewards?

      • +2

        Go to https://www.cashrewards.com.au/

Sign in… Then go to eBay through that site. It redirects you to ebay then go to the goodguys ebay listing for that tv.. And buy it with the 20% code at checkout. Thats where you apply code.

        • Thanks vid! Is the cashrewards a seperate transaction? Or will it come off the total?

        • @losonic: Separate third party bonus

  • isn't the Sony Bravia KDL55W800C 55" Smart TV a better option. Even ignoring the HDMI ports - It has a better smart TV (android based) OS. Easier to use interface. Its not 4K UHD though so for those wanting that, This is probably a good deal

    • FHD vs UHD is like 2007 vs 2015 tech

  • Comparing this to the Kogan Agora 55" UHD TV, thinking LG might just trump it, thanks TGG.

    • LG over Kogan TV. Panel quality matters much more than resolution.

  • thanks mate got one got no tv

    • +1

Now u got a tv lol

      • yeah only just got the sony bravia this year from catch of the day and the glass was smashed and screen stopped working lol

  • damn, after reading review…….might go with the Sony instead…….

    http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/uf6800

    • LG TVs plays movies and tv shows of USB drives or dlna servers better then any other players on the market hands down. This alone is the reason to only buy LG

    • Isn't review for a different TV? specs dont meed match up.

  • "damn, after reading review…….might go with the Sony instead…….

    http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/uf6800"

Thanks for posting that review, Ima sucker for reviews, good to know the contrast issue. Wow, they state it's not good in a darkroom!. So I guess only good for the Cricket and other things shot in the daylight.

  • Went into the store to check this out. The store rep was recommending we buy this instead :

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sony-KD55X8000C-55-139cm-UHD-LED-…

Anyone have any insights as to which one is better w.r.t. to picture contrast and Smart tv features?

This one works out to $1307.56 after 20% off and 3% cashback.
