  • TA, you violate the Woolies rule by 1min!

    • +2

mate, don't think they got the joke.

      • I used to work for woolies and never knew about this , throw some light for a chuckle mate

        • +2

woolies requested this deal be removed from ozbargain when it was posted earlier

        • @tomkun01: the marketing team sometimes stump me … TA was doing heir job by publishing the deals to OzB lol

  • Think this is the most timely post. Can you port an existing number to the Optus starter kits?
My mum is currently with Telstra on a crappy $39 plan and I want to port her number out and back on to the Telstra $40 plan.
Anyone know how long porting takes?

    • +2

Usually 4 hours, but I recommend you port to Optus and wait a couple of days than port back to Telstra.

I've had trouble when porting to/from one telco within 24 hours, better port to Optus use up all the Data+Call credit before porting back.

    • +3

Online chat should be able to do the change for you without porting.

    • Just ported this arvo. Only took 30 seconds…

  • What is the Flight Centre 10% off deal? Does someone have more details?

    • +1

Given the context I presume it is 10% off the gift cards, but I have no idea.

    • +5

It's in the catalogue. Save $8.xx on a $150 gift card.

But wait you say, 10% of $150 is $15. Alas you have forgotten the $7 activation (lol) fee

      • Okay didn't realise the catalogue was online already and I had to enter my postcode. I wonder if there are larger denominations for the gift cards but with the same fee.

Is the activation fee in addition to the $7.50 issuing fee? If so, then it's only 1% off.

        • +1

same thing (activation fee = issuing fee), I used the wrong terminology.

So by the looks of things, if you scan the barcode to get $10 off $100 purchase you get the $150 flight centre gift card for $131.75

        • @89tnp: Gift cards are excluded from the $10 barcode.
Looking @ the catalogue, a $150 FC gc costs $141.75, so you save $8.25 or 5.5%, presumably after the activation fee. Perhaps get the BigW e-gc @ 7.5% off, convert that into Wish card and use that to buy FC gc, that'll save more, I think!
Not bad to load up for future travels, though you'd be 'locked in' to FC, but get them to price beat! Cheers

          @oldrocker:

Not sure what the hell happened, but I scanned the barcode on page 1 and ended up getting:

2x$150 flight centre gift card for 141.75
1x$150 flight centre gift card for 111.75

I bought them individually. It said I had reached $30 in everyday rewards dollars after I purchased the first one (@ 141.75), so I got $30 off the second one. Not sure if this had anything to do with my initial purchase, as gift cards are except from everyday rewards dollars and also my everyday rewards dollars balance before purchasing the first card was $2.2?

          Maybe a glitch?

        • @89tnp: Wow, $300 FC gift card for $141.75 is crazy!

        • @CoolMJ:

No! Sorry for confusion, it was $141 each, but I got 2 at that price and one at $111

        • @89tnp: must be a glitch, you lucky fella!

        • @89tnp: maybe you already had some credit on your card from previous shops?

        • @89tnp: http://tinypic.com/r/2epizwl/9 according to the t&c can't use for gc

        • @joannatan:

as mentioned above, I'm aware. That's why I'm confused as to where the credit came from!

        • @89tnp: methinks Woolies' system is up the creek lately. Few weeks ago, $10 appeared on my card, no reason. Few days ago, bought 2x$50 GC expecting 2x$10 credits, none appeared. Had to get them via EDR site online chat.

    • I can't see any reference to Flight Centre..

      • Optus $30 Starter Kits $5, Flight Centre GC 10% off, All Streets Ice Cream $5, Bonds 50%, 5kg Turkey $25 @ Woolworths

        • +1

I couldn't see it in the catalogue, I've found it now.

          OPTUS $5 deal

Took some hunting for this too.

        • @Steptoe: Is it convertable to $30 of google credits?

        • +1

          @JetBombat:

No, only optus post paid users can.
You can use it to buy (some) games from g2a.com albeit at the twice their price.

  • +1

Also on the front page of the catalog is a barcode to scan $10 off if you spend over $100

  • $10 off Next Shop with $50 Spend on Gift Cards (Cotton On, David Jones, etc)

    1 per EDR/woolworths rewards card?

    • +1

      yes

I checked out twice with the same EDR card when they have a same promotion.
but they did not give me $10off on the second transaction.
Notification of $10 off was clearly showed on the receipt

Is this all gift cards god sake just recently been buying $480 in job hifi ones and another for $70 and then $400 bbq galore and again $100 bbqgalore tell me it does not include these or in fact what does it mean on all these different times I purchased the above each time I could have got $10 off my next shop. Ok I'm too late but wondering what I missed out on.

It's dangerous to post alone! Take these.

      10x .
      10x ?
      10x !

      • Can I buy a vowel?

        • Quite the kontrary, I think you need a specifik konsonant. How about a C for siks dollars?

  • It will be interesting to see if woolworths also makes the $10 for $100 spend vouchers which have been readily available for the last few months overlapping with this edr offer - $20 off $110 spend? I notice the current available vouchers expire 1 Dec.

  • I can't tell from the catalogue but does anyone know what the gram size is for the Roses Chocolate tin?

Also any way you can use the $10 off $100 through Woolworths online?

  • Can you scan the barcode off PDF catalogue on the phone I wonder?

  • Could I buy flight center gift card with Woolworths egift card?

    150 -15 +7.5 = 142.5 for $150 gift card,
135.38 if paid by 5% off egift card.
    (9.75% savings)

Further $10 off possible…. but requires an EDR card so maybe works only once per customer?

If I can get $10 off every time, it would be approx. 16% savings so pretty good savings…

edit: $10 credit when spend $100 doesn't apply to gift cards. However it doesn't state how many times you can get the credit…

can you pay the airfare that has pricebeat with Flight centre gift card?

      • Yeah, I'd like to know if you can use the GC to pay for a price beat/match as well.

        • +1

I just called them. They said you can use the GCs for anything in store including price matching.

        • @dtroy: $7.5 card fee is the killer of this deal

  • can I buy 6 * $50 David jones Gift cards and take a new everyday rewards card on every purchase ?

  • Can u use these Optus SIMs for a mobile broadband device? I still have a couple from a previous offer. If so how do you activate it for broadband.

  • Had lots of hassles with $10 credits not on my EDR after buying DJ & Kathmandu gc's. Local Woolies staff not aware how it's supposed to work. In the end someone @ EDR online chat manually credited to my EDR. Looks like something's wrong with their system.
