I "had" one of this. Doesn't last very long…especially when it's under the sun/rain… The winding mechanism went first, then the plastic casing
Yeah I can't recommend this one. Initially seemed pretty good so purchased one as a gift for the father in law. His was lucky to last 6 months before the rewind mechanism failed. Ours is getting closer to 12 months now and had been ok up until this week where I just can't get the rewind/lock to hold so I think it is just an overpriced reel now.
There must be a price point somewhere with these reels where I can get a few years usage without overspending??
Just rang a store, warranty is 12 mths on them and guy reckons there hasn't been many returns or dramas with them…
Ours lasted from September 2014 to this last weekend. Father in laws lasted from September 14 to around the start of winter but he didn't say anything as it was a gift and we only noticed last month. They are "ok" and we only paid $49 I think. The mechanism to lock is always a bit tricky. I suspect maybe would last longer if better protected. Ours was kind of protected under the eaves while FIL had his in full sun. I'm in the market for another reel but just want something that will last the distance this time.

these things seem like they're rubbish. Plus it was a lot cheaper back a few yrs ago. Not too impressed atm :/
