    damn this is mad

  • I wonder if all the exploited workers wages have been returned yet?
Sorry but I'm not coming back!

    • +1

7 - 11 have made the franchises an offer
7-11 will pay the first 25m for the outstanding wages
Then the franchisees pay the next 5m
      then after that its 50/50
The franchisees also get a new arrangement so they keep an extra 8% of the store profits going forward, but to get that 8% they have to agree to the above settlement and withdraw their legal action against the company (they are suing saying that the way their agreements are set up they had no choice but to underpay staff just to be able to trade)

I for one won't be shopping at 7/11 again until i hear that things have been fixed for those who got screwed and that those going forward won't be screwed.

Same reason i don't buy from Pizza Hut, making their drivers "independent contractors" and paying them $6 an hour (cause they get paid by the del)
Well.. that and the fact that PH pizza is just cardboard with toppings.

  • Can you use the Telstra starter pack to recharge an existing Telstra prepaid account?

    • in theory not, but in practice is possible but you need to call them and give some excuse that you dont know this is starter pack etc etc and they can do it for you over the phone!

      • If you're on Simplicity or Longlife, you use them to add recharge credit via creditme2u - see the wiki. No joy if you're on Freedom tho.

        • Will it also transfer data over?

        • @lostn: No, just the recharge credit goes over. Cap credit, data, includes sms etc all stay on the sim from the kit. I activate these kits on Freedom, strip the $30 credit (actually $29 once you allow for fees) off these onto my main phone and use these sims in a second phone that I use for surfing the web, making calls when I don't care what comes up on the other person's caller ID etc. More details on systems like this is in teh wiki, which is well worth a read if you're interested.

        • @newdad:

Can you transfer the full $30 at one time easily? On the wiki it says it has a maximum of $10 per transaction and you have a limit to the amount of transactions you can do.

        • @Subrising: there's a max of $10/day and a 25c fee for each transfer. Still, $10 for $29 credit is worth a bit of messing around.

doh… now we all looks like stupid, go through hard ways ordering online (telstra sim card), get cancelled, no refund , battled with their customer service team, and on and on and on…
while now can just walk to any 711 and buy!

    • Totally agree…

Welcome to Telstra. Best phone network. Worst service.

      • I dunno…. Optus have given me almost a dozen really good reasons to be super pissed off with their service. I highly recomend against Optus unless you're just using a pre-paid kind of phone deal.

        • Seems all the telcos have become awful.

    • I got fed up trying to chase my refund too. End up lodging a complaint on the telstra website and the customer service officer ended up crediting my telstra bill instead.

  • Available now?

  • The boost $5 deal is great for those of us with Telstra WiFi modems.

    • Roughly how much data does that give you?

      • +1

The boost $20 ultra gives free MMS SMS, 100 minutes calls and 1GB per 30 day month. There is also a bonus 500MB that can be used on weekends so you don't have to dip into the 1GB on Saturdays and Sundays. the bonus data does not roll over in to the weekdays and is lost if not used. (the bonus equates to an extra 2GB per month if used) NOTE - Weekends are counted by eastern standard time so great for Friday nights in WA.

The best part is that BOOST gives you telstra 4G and 3G

        • Wow that's pretty good, if I didn't get 7.6GB with a $30 Telstra sim that I already owned I'd grab one for camping for 7 days.

  • Any expiry date on the sim packs itself

    • Jun 2017 on the one i had picked up.
Harvey Norman has the same deal for the telstra card… its been going around for a while, online Woolies (i just hadn't made it to any of them in time, if they had stock)

  • +1

Can these be used for a recharge on an existing account? (BOOST)

  • Boost sim is great, works with the cheap lumia 532 from woolies.

  • Checked a few stores on my way home, no stock…:/

  • is the boost 20 for $5 a better deal than the optus/telstra 30 starter pack for $10?

    • depends what you want - data wise its $5 for 'up to' 3Gb versus $10 for 3Gb + 2Gb if activated before 25/1/16.

      • how about calling/texting and how long it lasts, boost says 30 days, i tihkn optus depends on what plan you choose, the longer it lasts the worse the rates are

    • My Prepaid daily.. I don't think I can go too wrong
30 minutes * 30 sessions over six months.
      $0.83mo. Occasional user.

Same scam they are pulling with most of the Supermarkets. They have not delivered new stocks..Was just visiting 7-11> by phone.

was lucky to collect last optus $5 pack from Woolworths though.

What's with all these $5/$10 starter sims now? They used to be $15 at the lowest and only every now and then, but now it seems to always be $5 somewhere. Are they desperate, or just getting really competitive?

    • +2

I'm noticing too. Becoming so frequent that I'm coming off vaya and gonna start being a new customer of a differing Telco every single month..

    • From my understanding telcos are offering starter kits at these crazy prices since last december. Last year telstra starter kit was $1 with $30 worth groceries. But, its only in december. Back to full prices from Jan and occasionally half price. Please correct me if im wrong.

Edit: i still remember buying useless things to get the starter kit for a $ but i don't regret because it's a bargain ;)

So has anyone managed to buy either of these at a 7 eleven?

    • I've so far checked 5 in my immediate area. No go so far.

    • +1

I was after Boost and had to visit 4 stores to get one.

      • Well done searedtuna. I gave up at store 3.

    • Got 2 Boost from the third store I visited…
      It was behind the counter.

  • Is the Telstra one good for google play credit?

    • Exactly what i was about to ask…

    • yes they are good.
i have used one to buy all the essential apps on google play, and have 2 new in stock so not sure if i will buy more, but who knows..

      • Interesting! Might pick one up for in-game purchasing… totally not addicted..

        • +1

I bought $30 for $1 only, used all $30 credit in like 10 mins to buy all the apps lol… Almost feel like free credit.

        • Dayum, where was this $1 deal??? :D

        • @Xizor: dont worry its all gone long time ago

  • Been to 3 stores no stock

  • No stock in elizabeth st Melbourne stores. I checked each one.

  • +3

much easier to buy the telstra sims from officeworks. same price - http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/telstra-30-…

    • Thanks for this. Gonna see what all the fuss is about regarding the Play credit. Sounds like a good deal and I already notified Spintel I am leaving end of the year. Cannot recall being with Telstra in the last 10+ years so looking forward to 4G speeds so fast it will make my phone explode.

My phone has two SIM slots. But I am new to this Telstra thing so can I buy a bunch of these $10 cards and use the first one to port my number on Freedom Plus for 28 days including the bonus 5GB data. Then with the second $10 card, do I first port out to someone else and then back to Telstra on the Longlife+Simplicity trick?

Then I also immediately activate a third $10 card, for the second SIM slot, on Freedom Plus and use that for my outgoing voice/sms/data usage, while also using CreditMe2U over 3 days back to my main number? Keep doing this every month and keep racking up $29 of credit on my main number to use for google play and related offers?

  • Can these prepaid kits be used for porting number from other telco?

  • Went to 4 stores and found none.

  • No one has found any stock this is amazing

    • I just got four from Officeworks Carnegie (Vic) and cleaned them out

  • Just in case ppl are curious… i activated (basic activation no port or anything) a Telstra prepaid freedom plus yesterday and it took over 6 hours before it was actually activated (and confusing/conflicting emails sent about status too)…. pretty poor delay considering the big T make billions of dollars in profit! AND…. 18 hours later Telstra payment method is failing on google play, customer not found error… hopefully it works later.

  • None in either Burwood store.
One guy said it in a snickering way..
    The old Bait n Switch…
