Pay $93 more for AU warranty?

    • na, my credit card comes with ext wty

      • What card do you have? Mine only extends Australian warranties.

        • +1

          mine is amex platinum

        • @imahapyboy: i've got an amex platinum card as well, but unfortunately mine is limited to Australian warranties.

        • should be worldwide coverage

      • extended warranty on my Westpac Black Amex has a $200 excess fee last time I tried to get them to fix my fridge

  • Am I missing something? I work out 499Euros to be more than $753

      Take out the tax

Edit Well that was my 6000th comment ;)

It's a good deal, but yeah I'd rather pay the extra $93 more for local warranty if I was in the market for this phone.

Or take your chances in getting a 64gb model for $744

      • I tried pretty hard to get harvey norman to price match the $744 actually got to the counter and right before he the guy was going to ring me up saw the 64gb on the side box and double checked the optus site and the phone specifications were my undoing…

Would you mind emailing your receipt for the price you got the 64gb would be a massive help.

email is somerandom48@gmail, thanks in advance!

    • Where is this only $93 more here?

      • +1

        Virgin / Optus

      • +6

Optus/Virgin sell it for $744 outright, with a couple of freebies (Huawei earbuds and OEM case).

        • Are they locked to those networks?

        • @Mario112: Nope. No carrier bloatware either.

  • Not so sure what the big deal is about local warranty.
Aside from Apple, the phone will still need to be sent off for repairs and will still likely be gone for a few weeks. Bought a Nexus 9 from Telstra, returned it a few days later and 3 weeks later I still dont have it back.

Not so sure what the big deal is about local warranty.

Manufacturer warranty is irrelevant, Australian Consumer Law is very relevant - it forces retailer to perform remedial action.

BTW, after 3 weeks, I'd be demanding refund from retailer.

    • If you buy directly from google, when you have a probem, they send you a new phone which you have in a few days, and you send your old faulty phone back to them for refurbishment/recycling.

    • +1

Yeah anymore than 10 days demand a refund.

Ime Telstra has been awesome. Nexus 9 they sent me a brand new replacement straight away. Didn't have to return my old nexus 9 till they replaced my old one. HTC One, telstra got me a brand new replace within 2 days, that was on an 18 month old phone. Once again they didn't take my old phone until I got a new one. Can't complain with their excellent service. Doubt Apple would do any better.

    • FYI dead on arrival you're entitled to a refund or replacement on the spot.

Id be calling up and complaining.

      • Wasn't quite dead but would reset itself every 10-15 minutes
Hope I get it back before xmas. Its a nice enough tablet, when it worked lol.

        • You got it through telsra and they won't send you a replacement? Odd. People on wp had no issues with getting refunds or replacements straight away.

Dead on arrival doesn't necessarily mean dead, it just means it arrived with a manufacture fault, or developed one within a certain period, typically 7 days to a month.

You should have been issued a replacement in my opinion.

    • +2

Australian nexus 6p devices can be taken to Huawei kiosks (10 nationally) and if they have fault will be swapped on spot (or 3 day swap if kiosk has no stock)

      Outright models only.
Models from Optus/Virgin/Vodafone have to go back through their respective service departments.

$728 delivered from eGlobal shop with 24 months warranty if anyone is interested (for black version only tho)

    • use the code: WELCOME to bring it down to $723 with them

    • +2

Australian stock is 24months warranty and you would not have to deal with eglobal

  • How would warranty work with french amazon?

  • out of stock!

  • If you're fussy over your phones condition I suggest buying locally - around 10% have manufacturing defects (scruffs and small marks).

  • Anyone know any deals on the 5X?
