Great price… my old ikea thermometer is on the blink and im cooking 6kg of pork in my smoker next weekend. Perfect timing. The code is GREAT15 (no space) Cheers!

    • Extra $3 off, thanks.

  • Nice find, thanks

    Thanks OP, ordered one
PS: it only comes with one probe…

    • one probe is normal for these type of therometers… usually used for big cuts of meat, and obviously if you are slow cooking multiple big cuts of meat - put the probe in the biggest cut to gauge temp. I bought a big smoker back in 2008 off amazon (no .com.au even existed then) and paid a hefty fee to get it shipped over and get the gas connection changed to AU version. Has served me well for all these years

The photo makes it look like it comes with many probes. Plus it's always nice to have multiple probes so you can test how accurate they actually are.

        • True, the photo is weird as its 1 picture with multiple images together and you can see two cords coming from it. Hopefully it works well. I'll be trying i out next weekend.

That pic looks like a malformed spine…

I initially thought it was a kebab stick.

  • Thanks Op - ordered!

  • thanks, already have a different oregon scientific wireless bbq thermometer…

couldnt pass this up for the price, ordered !

  • Cheers OP. Got one to replace my crappy iGrill mini. It worked OK but had many annoying traits so I hope these are better.

UPDATE: My unit arrived yesterday so gave it a run last night with a boneless rolled Chicken thing in the BBQ. Works really well by itself but pairs & works perfectly via Bluetooth too… even just pushing past the 10m limit! Very decent little devices even at their normal price and blows the iGrill Mini right out of the water so for $20 they're exceptional. Pity there's no stock left though as I would've loved to buy a few more as gifts :(

  • Thanks op!! Getting ready for slow cook ribs in my weber

  • Awesome. Been needing something like this for a while. Perfect for summer brisket and pork shoulder days :)

Purchased after seeing the words BBQ and Bluetooth. Yes!!!

  • Thanks, got 3. Nice stocking stuffers.

  • Thanks OP. Got one for pick up :o)

  • I bought two but had to purchase one at a time to get the GREAT15 discount. When I selected QTY 2 it would only apply the discount for one item.

    • Yeah same thing happened to me but I didn't pick this up in time, only realised after I saw the Paypal receipt.

Still I figure its a good price regardless just wish I had of noticed.

    Coupon no longer working?

  • Coupon is expired but $20 is a good price.

  • Just got home after seeing (and buying instore).

  • It comes with single probe. I ordered an extra probe for this price (US$13) from Amazon. Should have waited a bit more..

Damn, missed out on using the coupon, oh well all good.

"no stock in your location" annoys me no end. Why can't DS fix their damned site to suggest branches (within a certain proximity — like X Kilometers)?!

  • Thanks OP

Try changing to the full website.

I found the mobile site said temporarily out of stock but the full site had stock.

      • Cheers! thanks for the tip

  • +1

I found it was still in stock.
Lots of people complaining about the fickle Bluetooth 4.0 connection, plenty of devices it will not pair with :(
    And only 1 probe

Other brands of these of ive seen use WiFi, not sure if that is a better idea of not.

Out of stock on full site too…

  • Out of stock, yep only till the sale ends then miraculously hours later stock available at all stores. Dick Smith, always off the shopping list.

    • Is it a legal requirement that all stores must sell every single piece of their stock whenever they have a sale on an item?

Do you think that's what happens all the time everywhere else?

      • There is a reason why DS value is going south and why no one I know shops at DS anymore. Along with bad customer service and standard prices being too expensive, their sale stocks always run out in minutes and as soon as the sale ends all stock becomes available which makes you think the sale is more of a marketing ploy than an actual sale. Not a great way to get a loyal customer base.

  • Got 1 last night and 2 of the weather stations.

    • How much was the weather station?

      • +1

pretty sure it was $15 for the blu tooth weather station / stored 7 days of recordings. Couldn't see much point in it though with Bluetooth range you might was well take 3 steps and look at the screen.

        $15

  • Just bought this one:

    http://store.oregonscientific.com/au/grill-right-bluetoothtm…

Wynnum DS had a few left on the shelves….and the weather stations too.

  • I bought 2 thermometers, 1 for myself, 1 for a Dirty Santa. But I'm thinking now that I might want the second probe, so maybe I will try to steal back my present in the Dirty Santa lol.

  • Bought one today- you need to check your local store for stock.

  • I know this is a long shot, but I'd be happy to buy one of anyone who decides they don't want theirs :).

  • anyone having trouble pairing to your phone. Can't get it to work with my iphone 6.

    Steps i do.
    1. Batteries in device
    2. In iphone app - press pair
    3. Hold '+' and '-' button on device for 30 seconds… and nothing (my bluetooth and wifi are on)

    • +1

are you sure you are pressing +and- correctly? You sould be able to see the blinking wireless signal at the bottom right corner of the display on top of the start button. I have to try 2-3 times every time to get it right due to the touch buttons sensitivity but it works.

      • Thanks - didnt realise you had to press the '+' & '-' button then press pair. Found the youtube video which helped.

  • Has anyone successfully used this with a weber BBQ?

I gave it a whirl last night but not sure how to get it working with closed kid cooking. It's supposed to work in an oven so should work here too.

Shoved (delicately placed) the probe into one of the steaks and then put the lid down.

I had it set for 'beef' and 'medium' and the alarms started almost instantly - after about 30 seconds it proclaimed it was already done… Ummm, no.

I lifted the lid and pulled out the probe (with my fingers - oops -'crispy ozbargainer') and finished the cooking without my gadget.

Has anyone else tried this with lid down cooking? There's not much mention of probe placement in the manual.

Cooking issue aside (pretty vital) setup and pairing with my phone was easy.

    • Works perfectly with my 4-Burner Weber and the Q220. I think you've identified the problem in your reply below ie. it's the size of the 'protein' that makes the difference.

  • +1

I used poked the probe through the vent that is used to control the air flow. Cooked a couple of chooks over three hours with no dramas.

    • Yes, I did that too, but if you're doing a whole chicken then you have plenty of carcass to push the probe into. If you are sticking it into a small steak, then most of the probe isn't inserted into meat and I guess it measures the temperature surrounding it and thinks, yikes, it's hot and done!
