  • Can anyone rate and comment on the quality of these?

I currently got a Yamaha YSP-1400 but this looks tempting too lol!

    • some reviews here
      Amazon

      • Seems like quite a few complaints about defective ones dropping out sound especially over HDMI connection. If you have the room I'd suggest a real surround sound system, it will sound much better than this for the cost.

        • Did some looking around too, some very positive reviews though.

Agreed the 'real surround sound' would be better, but for convenience .. That's the main reason i love a sound bar!

Thanks for the input guys :)

With separate woofer?? Makes no sense.
I thought the whole point of a soundbar was that it was all-in-one. Woofer integrated between the L&R tweeters.

Why not just have regular satellite speakers instead of the bar then? 7.1 with such small channel separation is a bit silly.

edit: can't believe i still get surprised by audio gear being silly. At least its not monster cable or Beats .

  • Hi,

Anyone got any idea how does this compare to http://www.samsung.com/au/support/model/HW-F751/XY

    Samsung f751.

    Thank You.

    • Totally different level, what you want to compare that samsung is with this bargain
This one is a 7.1 channel and the samsung is a 2.1

      • Hi, thanks for your help and info. I'm not very good at this, but from what i know the samsung HW-F751 is 2.1ch / 310 W and the sony is 2.1ch / 80 W.

Can you help me out if the sony 2.1 ch is good enough, I found the samsung sound very good when I tested it in store.

        Thank You.

        • I think from your info alone, the samsung has higher output than the sony ones.
I would go for Samsung if the price is good but the Sony is half price atm

try find another sound bar that is 450 watts…you wont.

    • Actually, the 450W total audio power output includes the subwoofer.

      Samsung HW-J470 4.1 = 460W
      LG LAS950M 7.1 = 700W
      Sony HT-ST9 7.1 = 800W
to name a few. Yamaha has the reputation being the pioneers in this area, but Sony is arguably the best value, but it doesn't all come down to power — connectivity, sound quality and features are often more important.

      • Cheers for the update.

They dont sell any of those at JB or Good guys in melton (hence that was my refrence)

JB sold 2000 dollar sound bar and it was 400 watts…

I guess you just have to keep an eye open

        cheers mate
