  • Nice deal for anyone looking to upgrade their PS4 HDD..

    • what is so special about this HDD to be used for ps4??

    • +2

Even better for Xbox One upgrades (just plug it in). :-)

      • -1

you can plug a drive in the ps4 too, they just look ugly I reckon.

        • Since when will that work? (for proper system use…)

        • +1

as a PS4 owner you can't download games onto external storage

        • Does PS4 now support HDD access via the USB ports the way XBONE does? i.e. install and play games off a HDD connected via USB.

        • @Innamura:

Wouldn't USB protocol be severely limiting compared to sata, especially for speed critical things like texture loading?

        • +1

@brad1601: for mechanical drives I don't believe that's the case. The external drives can out perform the internal 5200RPM drive based on what I've heard.

          SSD would be another matter.

        • @brad1601: USB 3 speeds (with a 7200rpm drive) are faster than the internal drive.

        • @brad1601: Interestingly, with XBONE, the external drive outperforms the internal drive. For some reason they used a SATA II interface for the internal drive whilst the external drives connect via USB 3.0, which is faster.

        • @scuderiarmani:
No idea, I have just been told you can plug a drive in with movies music and can save game day to it. Never tried, only had a ps4 a few weeks

        • @PVA:

You are going to be disappointed if you think you can store games on it.

        • @scuderiarmani:
Nah, wont be disappointed as i never had any thought of doing it to start with. Movies on a drive, thats another thing.

    • isnt a 240gig SSD a better upgrade suggestion to allow faster load times on games?
there were some cheap ones recently

(i guess people use PS4 for other things apart from games i can understand)

      • I read SSD isnt any faster on consoles.
and 240gig is too small anyway.

        • well ive seen comparison videos it's a bit faster

        • @Kanasuke:
Our 500gig from new had 400gig free, so a 240gig ssd would be pretty useless.

      • +1

Well no given that's half the standard drive size, and no real speed benefit. Not sure why you'd pay to upgrade and get something half the size when space is already at a premium.

        • exactly.

  • Thanks. Looking forward for a nice present for the wife.

  • Good one, purchased one for the PS4 upgrade..:-)

  • Bit of a bummer, this drive shows as available in store (Hermit Park, Townsville) using the Officeworks website but using their eBay store it shows as "no stores near you that carry this item". Might try this deal in store?

    • I couldnt get c&c in any adelaide store even though it said in stock. Oh well just have to wait

    • call the store

  • this is the new 'expansion' model right? is it confirmed it uses a regular thickness hdd?

  • Is the code still working? Cart said discount applied but paypal says i paid $119

  • Great timing, bought 1. Thanks

  • Does anyone know if this drive is easily removed from the enclosure?

Usually with these externals you have to destroy that enclosure to remove the drive.

The drives them self in these external enclosures are usually of the lowest quality. Best to keep this on mind. The chance of failure is high - espeecially being a Seagate.

    • +1

There's a Samsung Spinrite 7200rpm inside (Seagate owns Samsung's HDD business now)

      • oh WOW! 7200rpm for that price?

        Def. Gunna jump on that!

        • +1

Sorry my bad its actually a 5400rpm
          Samsung Spinpoint 2TB M9T

      • Didn't know this! I have been steering family and friends away from Seagate for years. Heck, their company name describes the quality of their old drives (before samsung).

    • It's easy to remove. I did it without even using any tools others an my fingernails. Ok I cheated I did use a plastic ruler too.

    and don't forget 3.3% Cashrewards

bring down the price to $103.57

    • 3.5% cashback at shopandmint.com.au

      Every .% counts :p

      • price downs to $103.35

damn, you beat me with 22 cents

  • Thanks TA, was hoping to find a 2TB around the $100 mark for doing backups.

  • do officeworks price match with their ebay store?

  • hi all,
i'm a bit confused as under the feature tab it says 3yr warranty but the specifications tab says 12 months

  • +1

How do I group the order into same transaction from different sellers?
eg. one from Officeworks and one from another private seller?

    • You click "Add To Cart" rather than "Buy Now" on each listing.

Then go to Shoppping Cart, and tick the boxes against whatever items you wish to pay in this transaction. Then "Pay"

  • Thanks TA another good deal.

  • out of stock 2 seconds ago! :(

    • I just bought one 10mins ago and again out of stock

  • +1

I bought a 1tb SSHD for this price. and put it in my ps4, runs fine.

    • the SSd part doesnt get used though does it?

      • +1

Yeah I believe they are fairly useless in a console. As its only like 8gb, might make the console initially boot quicker but that's about it, won't speed up game load times ect. I'd rather double the storage personally.

  • 39 votes and 39 sold in one hour, hmmmmmm

    • -1

      40 now

  • bought 1. even after the post above says sold out.

    • yeah , same here bought 2.

  • New stocks and free delivery added.

    • ….

  • Is it possible to pick up in store?
    (heading off on holidays soon..)

  • Damn it. Out of Stock.

  • need to stop socializing and part time working or shall we call it pottering, only so I can keep an eye on this site
    Out of stock

  • Got one early this morning. Every store around me had it in stock for click and collect, but I opted for delivery since it was free postage anyway.

  • Anybody know what the highest capacity HDD a PS4 can take?

Will it accept a 3Tb drive?

    • yes, but apparently standby doesn't work with drives over 2 TB.

      • I see. Good to know, thanks.

        Guess it's a 2TB for me then.

  • So am i reading this right you can plug this into your xbox one usb and it becomes 3tb? One from xbox and 2tb from hardrive?and you cant use anything bigger as does not work?
If so wonder why they not got more in stock?

    • So am i reading this right you can plug this into your xbox one usb and it becomes 3tb?

No… the external drive will never get larger that what it starts off.

One from xbox and 2tb from hardrive?

Kind of - you might have 800GB from the internal Xbox drive and gain another 1.8TB from the new external.

you cant use anything bigger as does not work?

The maximum size of external drive you can use is 16TB. But you can add TWO externals.

If so wonder why they not got more in stock?0

Just check every hour or so, they re-stock periodically.
