      Dedication to the cause! Thanks.

I bought this and the surge light could also double as a night light.
I prefer the room to be completely dark, so I'm going to cover the light with duct tape.

    • +11

so I'm going to cover the light with duct tape.

or you can just use a black permanent marker…

      • +1

Might give that a try, thanks jv!

      • +14

I like to use blu-tack. Removed easily and blacks out completely.

        • +1

Even better idea, and non permanent

    • the Jackson brand is the same. Blue spotlight.

    • +4

Usually a hallmark of poor design. Likely it was the cheapest LED they could find, as with the rest of the components.

It is always amazing great names, like Philips, are happy to destroy their brand a little piece at a time, making such products with so little regard. Worst part is, Philips probably didn't even make it (just re-badged it) and probably didn't make any money off it either (since it is being flogged at all the clearance stores like COTD)! When will they learn? lol

I personally dont mind the glow, helps me find my way to the dunny at night

  • Good find, OP. Ordered one

Same price on DS ebay store, use C&C and coupon "Collect15" Price = $8.50

    • +1

Damn, forgot the coupon code. There goes my $1.50

      • +1

        Did you remember Cashrewards 5%?

      • I bought 2 = -3 :(((

    • I just tried to order on eBay and got this message: "Sorry, this seller is on vacation, so this item is unavailable for purchase."

  • The powercube with USB is better value if you can find it

  • Can these usb able to charge ipad air or tablet?

    • Well they do 2.1amps so that's good amount of current for tablets - not sure if these will kick the devices into fast charge mode or not. Apple are tricky with their resistance/pin configurations

  • Thanks OP - picked one up this afternoon. No stock at Mirrabooka or Innaloo "Large" store (Scarborough Beach Road) but still a couple on the shelf at the Innaloo Westfield store.

  • Cheers got 2 from eBay store. 2 is the eBay limit and after cashback & collect15 it comes down to $8.10 each.

  • Would the 2 USB Ports be 2.1A combined? or 2.1A each port?

    • +1

On the charger and the packaging of the one I bought today, it states:

      Total current 2.1A

      Total loading 10A 2400W max.

    • +1
      • Looks like both ports put out 2.1A, so it's not combined.

        Check the COTD comment below.

        • +1

not quite - check cotd product image :)

        • @tonester:

          What am I looking for?

    • Just bear in mind it might get sold out instore, before your ebay order is organised…

      • I'd presume they have stock in their main warehouse to atleast the level they display on eBay… As far as I know they ship the stock to your local store for pick-up

        • You are right.
Apologies, just read the ebay site.(I saw none at Morley, and its available to collect there.)
They run the ebay store different to the online store

        • +1

They don't seem to ship any additional stock to stores to fulfil C & C orders made directly through the DSE website, which is why a lot of people have been running into problems with placing C & C orders and then the orders having to be cancelled (or in my case, another similar item substituted) because the stores don't actually have any stock. There are two DSE stores that are currently still showing as C & C being available for this product via the DSE website, but I was in both stores this afternoon and they didn't have any left so anyone ordering from those stores via the website will probably miss out. I'd be interested to know if the eBay C & C orders are treated/handled differently.

ETA: I see what MMD means, I just read the eBay listing too, good to know that they ship to store. Will have to keep that in mind!

        • @SimbaGirl:
Yep it seems their ebay delivery process is different to their online site.
I assumed it was the same setup, so was trying to help others.
Good to know ebay ships to store

        • @mmd:

I assumed it was the same set-up as well. Pretty poor effort on DSE's part though if they'll happily ship stock to stores to fulfil Ebay C & C orders but won't do the same to cover C & C orders that are placed through their own website!!!

        • @SimbaGirl:

I have yet to ever see an item shipped to a store for click and collect in regular circumstances.

During the recent clearance sale eBay messed up and considerably oversold most clearance lines. They've accepted responsibility and last I checked were trying to find a resolution. It appears that they have offered to pay for the transport costs to have items trucked to stores for click and collect.

I could be wrong about that last part, just inferring.

        • @Pharos5:

Thanks for that information - it will be interesting to see whether people who've ordered these via Ebay actually get them!

        • @SimbaGirl:

Doesn't look good. Had a store manager call me today saying that he has never been sent stock for c&c. Wanted to cancel my order, I told him the Ebay listing said items are sent to store and leave the order open…

I think it will be cancelled.

        • @millzy:
Doesn't sound good at all :(

    $14.99 @ https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/product/philips-rotatable-s…

note: Total Current 2.1A / Total Loading 10A (2.1A can be delivered by one port alone or both combined together)

    • Also: Features 1 outlet and 2 2.1A USB charging ports

      • 2 2.1A USB charging ports

2.1A can be delivered by one port alone or both combined together

        check cotd product image :)

        • Which image?

The last product image with the packaging?

I can't even read the text.

Fair enough though, I stand corrected.

  • -1

So this charges really slowly then, even only when one is used?

    • +2

      no

    • +1

Shouldn't do - this is a 2.1A/10W charger which is the same as the Apple chargers for iPads (except for the iPad Pro which now comes with a 12W charger).

  • are these USB ports good enough to charge iPhone 4s/6 ?

    • +2

      yes.

  • +4

I've seen the product in store. Total 2.1A on both ports. If you're charging only one device, you get 2.1A. If you are charging two devices simultaneously, then around 1A each.

  • Ebay checkout says: "These items are not available. They may have been purchased already, or the listings have expired." What's that mean?

    • Argh, I got that too on ebay. Was a nice deal, could use Collect15 to save 15%. Their listing is probably showing inaccurate stock levels.

      • Yeah got it down to $8.50, then at the last hurdle……………….

  • normally $10 http://www.a03.com.au/product/PW6025

so only some benefits when ordering from ebay with 15% + 5% off.

  • Got an email item is ready for pick up, strange as the store hasn't been open since I ordered it… Email came from Dick Smith but I need to wait for the eBay one to take in

    • don't think the system is reliable!

  • Not sure I can be bothered with this one, ordered via eBay site some earphones c&c on Friday, with the "ready in 5 business hours"and still haven't received any notification.
I envisage there will be problems getting them before Xmas, which is a pain, but not detrimental for me. Still a bit lousy.

  • Just got a call from a store, they have said they have no stock and no stores locally have them either, wanted to cancel my order.

Are these meant to come from a warehouse?

  • +1

If you're finding that the Philips one is out of stock near you, there's a Belkin one on sale for $12:
    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/printers-office/belkin-1-outlet-…

    • Also "Sold Out" around the Brisbane Metro.

      • Perth Metro as well by the looks of it.

  • +1

    good luck in finding stock

  • Ordered one on ebay c&c churchill center and received an approval notification today. Forgot to use 15% off code

  • Strolled into Grafton store this arvo and there was one left in the shelf. Thanks OP

  • Got a refund and nobody bothered to contact us. We ordered pretty early too.

I would neg this if I could but since I +'ed it previously I can't.

  • edit

  • Just some feedback, purchased this via their ebay site 19/12/2015 and then it wasn't until a few days ago I received a call they had no stock and they would be cancelling my order and refunding it - thanks for nothing Dick.
