Been using these guys for a few months now and have found them to be good so far

Given current exchange rates on xe.com it works out as:

Stingy Monthly account (25mbps) €2.97 = $AU 4.49
To the max Monthly account (unlimited speed) €5.37 = $AU 8.12
500GB Block €10.4 = $AU 15.73

Since our initial beta (7 months ago) and going live (3 months ago) we had a great first year thanks to you guy's! Because we really appreciate you guy's supporting us we wanted to give you guy's a small update on the progress we've made so far and offer you some discount this Christmas as a gift back. ;)

We've used the last 3 months to further improve our platform's quality and some fixes we've done so far:

  • Fixed several bugs in our self-written NNTP-server (increasing posting limits, speed optimalisations, fixing time-outs on large header requests)
  • Added support for the XZVER/XZHDR commands (compressed headering)
  • Invested in 360TB storage cluster, further improving our retention
  • Added more Usenet peerings (Newsoo, Giganews, XSUsenet, XSNews)
  • Increased Stingy-package limits from 10Mbits to 25Mbits

Currently we're doing some tests to add Highwinds as a second backend (next to XSNews), meaning articles you'll download will be received from 1) our cluster 2) from XSNews and 3) from Highwinds. Would love to hear from you guy's what you think about this? :)

So to end this first year with Christmas deals, some coupons you guy's been waiting for ;p

XMAS2015 => 40% discount on every payment for Stingy and “To the max”

XMAS2015BLOCK => 20% discount on every payment for 500GB block account

These coupons are valid till 2016-01-01, so make sure you make your payment before they expire!

Again thank you all for this first year, we hope for many more upcoming years together!

We wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year!!

  • 1TB fair use on plans that aren't block

  • Anyone able to compare with Usenetbucket?

  • Nice
    So these use xsnews?
I heard usenet farm wasnt that good due to takedowns or was that a us side or am i completely mistaking these guys?

I use xsnews which is kinda expensive but highly reliable.

    • They use several peers and there's no takedowns that I've come across, which is why I moved to them

  • Not really a good deal. For $5-$7 more (depending on currency changes) Giganews offers 50% off for the first 3 months on their Unlimited Plans (50 max connections, 1600+ retention, etc) which comes a premium subscription to VyperVPN.

Gave up on Giganews due to their horrendous DMCA takedown policy, they may have improved recently but my experience was not good.

      dude, this is horrible advise.

as Hypnotoad explained the takedown are ccrazy.
      not worth the saving IMO.

      • What are you guys downloading? The only issue I've ever had with Giganews was Limitless (TV show). The rest have been perfect, even 900+ day movies/shows.

        • +2

CBS shows get taken down extremely quick on all providers.

Only 250KB for binary files, after that they use xsnews.

    • please explain what that means?
      thanks =)

  • Are the discounts to monthly plans recurring, or is it only for the first month?

  • Have been using these guys for a while. Works well as long as you aren't needing long retention.

    • Our retention is between 900-1000 days.

not sure what kind of retention you are referring to but generally i find that the US servers have the highest retentions but are the most frequently taken down.

      • When I signed up it was closer to 265 days retention. It's good it's getting bigger.

  • newsgroupdirect had served me well up until 2 months ago..

    news.newsgroupdirect.com
    Bandwidth:
    Total: 7.8 GB
    Today: 912 B
    This week: 912 B
    This month: 7.8 GB

    news.usenet.farm
    Bandwidth:
    Total: 20.2 GB
    Today: 4 KB
    This week: 4 KB
    This month: 20.2 GB

I've usenet.farm configured as backup(in my automated downloader of choice) too!

    • NewsGroupDirect screwed me a few months ago. I joined them from a deal posted here and, some time later, they cancelled my account because they said they weren't making money from it. The refund was sent to a credit card that I had closed and it was hardly worth the effort to get it sorted out.

I'll use the current block deal as another backup server.
