I thought this is a good deal so I would just like to share with everyone. I bought one myself. If you fancy the wireless version, it's down to $336 after the code plus $150 eftpos card. Enjoy!

Edit: I think the "i" is for iDevices only. Your best chance if you have an android is to price match with JBHIFI and just show them the website and hopefully and they won't notice the "i." Good luck!

  • Is the eftpos card claimed from Sennheiser?

    • Yes

Just to clarify - is this only at JB HiFi? Reading the FAQ and it says JB HiFi only https://www.campaign.net.au/sennheiser_urbanite_promotion_20…

"Purchase (1) participating set of Sennheiser Urbanite Headphones from a participating JB Hi Fi Retailer between 1st November and 31st December 2015"

      • Yeah, that made me confused as well. You can't find anything on the website regarding the participating retailers. But check with other Australian retailers like harvey norman, they have this promotion on their website. http://www.harveynorman.com.au/headphones-audio-music/headph…

But to be on the safe side and for convenience as well, I just got JBHIFI to price match. I asked for the sand color with no problem.

        • Yeah good enough for me - might swing past JB tonight and buy myself a Christmas present if they've got some in stock

        • Izefyre:

Are you able to please post your jbhifi receipt? Going there now so would be a nice backup

        • hi, great news. i spoke to someone at a jb hi-fi store and they said they need proof that someone else managed to price match the $224.25 bing lee price, may i have a screenshot of the receipt, please, if possible? cheers.

        • +1
        • @Izefyre: Cool thanks - what's the ear cup size like? Been reading a few reviews that they're half way between on ear and over ear even though they're technically over ears. For some reason I just can't stand on ears

        • @Izefyre: thanks so much. may i please have a new image which includes the date and time? the salesperson i spoke has requested it and i'm just trying to cover all bases.

        • +1

Get another sales person to help you. Usually these people are not hard to deal with. It's already on the website, what else do they need?? These kind of people shouldn't be working there. Went to a couple JBHIFI's around and not one person gave me a headache.

        • @Izefyre: i've spoken to four stores now and only one is willing to price match (all the others were coming up with various dubious reasons). the only store that is willing requires a date and time.

        • +3

Kill them for me and if they still don't yield. http://m.imgur.com/IfmG27F

        • @Izefyre: lol… thanks again.

        • Thanks mate!

Thanks, not needed but for this price could not resist.

  • What does participating retailer mean -___-

Edit: Believe i may have found these cheaper,

    http://www.probikekit.com.au/elysium.search?search=Sennheise…

    Coupon :SENN15AU

OP can you confirm, should also include the cash back…

    • +2

I don't think probikekit is an Australian retail store. UK i believe. So they're not qualified for the $100 casback. Good find though. Not sure about warranty with that as well. I think it's safer to buy Australian. You're supporting local retailers as well. :)

  • If it's anything like the Bose headphones, if you get the 'i' version and have an Android, you'll just have two extra buttons that do nothing. On an iPhone they control volume.

    • Yeah I hate this whole button difference between android and iPhone, seems more brands has iPhone version!

So jbhifi has the android version with all buttons working?

  • I'm worried about the touch control (i.e. on the side of the headphone cup) on the bluetooth/ wireless version. Anyone have any experiences with it? I've read that it can get annoying because of the sensitivity and there's no way to disable the touch controller.

    • If you need bluetooth, check jabra Revo too

      • Ozleb might not be interested in those since those are on-ears. Since you suggested them, I'm guessing you have a pair. If so, how are you finding them?

  • bought a pair delivery is $2

  • I feel jabra Revo wireless is better than URBANITE wireless? Similar touch control but Revo has better specs, lighter.

  • Abz, buy em. Good deal bro. Don't buy Beats and support Apple/Dr Dre. They're a bunch of scammers

    • You buy them first, you've always been my ginea pig!

  • +1

    Bought. Thanks OP. Great deal.

  • so how does the eftpos card work? can i cash it out or transfer money to a bank account?

    • I actually have an idea with the eftpos card, it just came up to me now. Maybe you can cash out at a woolies self checkout counter and pay with the eftpos card. Can anyone comment on this if this is possible.

      • It'll be a visa go and load card. Basically can use that where ever visa is accepted, which is everywhere. I paid for my headphones with one of those cards

      • Yes, can someone confirm if this is actually possible? Would rather cash than a gift card.

        • The load and go cards say you can use at ATM's, but I haven't tried. The new ones have chips in them and everything now, so don't see why it wouldn't work.

  • Jbhifi wouldn't price match (prior to receipt being posted anyway). Got Harvey Norman to price match the wireless version. Cost $336.75 which will be $186 after cash back. Cheers op

Paid for with a gift card so end up getting half of the gift car back

Guys this is a great deal,

but appears to be a few dollars cheaper at wireless 1, who also offer free shipping

    http://www.wireless1.com.au/sennheiser-urbanite-xl-black $223 Free shipping

    http://www.wireless1.com.au/sennheiser-urbanite-xl-wireless-… $330 Free Shipping

    • They really watch this site. :) You might not get this before christmas though.

Seems like wireless have increased their prices to 233 for the wired one and 350 for the wireless

      • Yeah, wireless version are sold out on Bing Lee which must be why they increased the price. I ended up buying them for 350 from Wireless1, still a pretty good deal I reckon.

        • They updated their price again, now $330 for wireless version.
I managed price match with Harvey Norman combined with Amex offer

        • @ubs: Yeah they sure did. Which Harvey Norman did you go to?

        • @ubs: Looks like a lot of people got rejected by HN, aw well I don't have AMEX anyway. Congrats on the deal though.

        • +1

          @Hunnypooh:
The one in Moore park superstore (nsw)

        • @ozleb: Yeah. I just went to HN live chat and the person responding to me said this when I asked them to pricematch Wireless1.
(Couldn't pricematch BingLee as they do not show that the item is in stock)

"unfortunately this competitor only has one store. there are certain exclusions for the price match policy. The main things we have to look for is do they have at least a minimum of 2 stores in Australia and if they ahve it in stock. Unfortunately the one you've linked only has one store in Parramatta and due to this reason we can't price match it"
"if you do find it elsewhere cheaper in stock and has more than 1 physical stores
We can price match it highly"

        • +1

          @Hunnypooh:

Edited as I didn't read properly

        • @butterbuts: awesome

        • +1

          @Hunnypooh:

          I do my best

        • @butterbuts:

i have figured that everyone that could of price match with bing lee would have been in NSW, as Bing Lee, their physical stores are only in NSW. Harvey norman would not price match anything online from bing lee and wireless 1 as:

          1. they are a "online store" for other states
          2. its not "advertised price" as you need to enter the coupon
          3. Wireless 1 could not be price matched as well due to them only having one physical store

They were pretty firm on their price match policies when i tried at three different harvey norman stores in SA. However, i did manage them to get it down to 370, which is still better off then the bing lee deal due to the Amex deal for myself (and for others that dont have amex, its probably best that you get it from wireless 1)

        • @tkboi:

Jbhifi wouldn't price match Bing Lee, but Harvey Norman did, so guess I got lucky

  • These are on sale for $124.99 USD (172.60 AUD)(lowest price ever) at Amazon.com, but do not ship to Australia. It's $50 cheaper but you don't get a gift card and shipping forwarding may be expensive.

    • +2

If they're $123.00 here (after cash back) why would anyone pay ~$172+shipping for US stock?

      • -1

Who knows, just thought i'd throw it out there.

  • In reference to the "i-device" note, these headphones use 3.5mm so its practically compatible with all consumer devices; however the volume control will likely not work (may on a couple of android devices) while the play/pause button will generally work.

So keep this in mind, this is a feature that is very rarely used by me so I bought it anyway for my (android) Nexus 5X.

    • can't you get an adapter to swap the connectors around?

      • You could buy a new cable from Sennheiser as the volume control is in built in cable - this is only difference between models.

        • i mean on the plug end.. aren't there adapters around on ebay? i would've thought so

        • @CVonC: Yes you can get volume control adapters for around a dollar but they aren't as nice as the integrated cable in-line volume control.

        • @Haxxa:

no i mean just attach an adapter to the plug end of the in-line volume control to convert it (and not have to replace the cable)?

          something like this or this?

  • Went to jbhifi and good guys in Osborne park. Couldn't match Bing Lee as no stores in WA. Sales guys seemed genuine about it. Both recommended buying them from Bing Lee as soon as I told them the price.
    So I did! Cheers OP!

    • i wouldve bought from wireless1. the wireless version sold by wireless1 is much cheaper than binglee.

  • I didn't want the wireless one so I didn't buy from wireless 1.

But yes, it would seem I could've saved $12 on shipping. Whether that is 'much cheaper' I'm not sure. Guess I ain't a professional like you lot.

  • +1

Priced matched wireless1's price at JB Hi Fi for the wireless version at $330. Headed overseas soon so another $30 off from TRS, and then the $150 cash back. So all up $150 for a pair of headphones they listed at $499. Amazing deal.

  • I bought a pair. Damn my headphone addiction. I already have too many.
Will be good for travelling though, they work perfect with my tablet.

  • Gosh, I already have 3 pairs of $200-350 headphones. I don't need this do I? I mean, I've only got 1 pair of ears… Dammnit ozbargain, always tempting me to buy things i dont need.

    • +2

I've been hovering on the checkout page for too long now…The lure of a bargain is too strong

      • …I caved and bought the wireless ones (from Wireless1)

        • Yeah… I've been looking at the one at wirless1 for a while too. With cashback on their ebay store, it's that much more tempting … I might try and sneak the android version while price matching at JB, seeing as all the ones i've seen on sale are iOS, or I suppose just grab the wireless version.

      • "Use the Force, Luke"

    • not interested in parrot zik? :D

      • That's the one I got and I would not recommend it.

Short battery life, v3 coming out, more expensive and only Bluetooth 3 with lacking range.

        • I quite like mine….The only feature i would want is a audible notice when the batter is =<10%
Plus they are the only noise-cancelling bluetooth ones ive found which i like?
Unless you can specify any other ones other than beats?

        • @brendongl: I was strongly considering the plantronics backbeat pro.

It has a crazy 24 hour battery life which is on par with the Sennheiser Urbanite XL wireless (25 hours) and vastly superior to Zik 2's 6 hour battery. You can get it shipped from Amazon for $200 AUD since it's been 'superseded' by the + version which is virtually the same except it includes an overpriced dongle which has no AptX support. Only thing is that apparently the round shape of the ear cups may not fit everyone's ears. This was why I was worried and went with the Parrot Zik's since I couldn't find a place to try the plantronics.

  • Are these rated better than the new Momentum's?

    • Sound wise, no.

      Trendy-wise, yes.

    • Different sound signature, momentums are more accurate, these are more 'fun' sounding.

  • almost bought but then saw review video, looks like this would be huge on my small head. pass…..

  • +1

Do any places sell the Android version of these headphones? I can't seem to find anything

For anyone who are interested in getting the cables for Android version (which means the volume control would work on them). Sennheiser sells them at $60, if you desperately want one.

  • time to head down to my nearest HN or JB later in the morning.

  • Although I can't speak to this particular model, Senns in general are great quality and worth the price. I've never had a pair fail, and my two oldest are 16 (HD590s) and 11 years old (PXC 450s).

    • I like headphones by Sennheiser, I think they usually worth what you pay for at least (which doesn't sound a lot, but compared to certain companies, it's actually a lot more than what it sounds like). In-ear headphones by them were alright back in 2000s, but nowadays there are so many other options out there, it's

  • I'm no headphones guru, could someone tell me how the Senheiser urbanite wireless xl compare to the Bose wireless sound link headphones? or can someone recommend me a good pair of wireless headphones? usage: home/ occasional flights (noise cancelling isn't important to me, I don't think!)

  • Ignoring the price, which one would u guys choose between the wireless version of urbanite and beats studio wireless?

  • Can OP (or someone else) please explain, if I have bought online from Bing Lee, how you claim the gift card? Sennheiser website says you need to upload purchase receipt.

Has anyone called Sennheiser to ask about this? (I will call at my break if not)

    • Spoke to Sennheiser, they say upload of confirmation email from Bing Lee is fine.

      • what do you put down for serial number etc?

        • You have till the 14th of Jan to lodge the cashback. Alternatively, could maybe ask them prior to shipping?

        • @butterbuts: cool ill just wait then :D

  • Thanks - bought the wired version from wireless1. Great deal!

    • Has your order moved passed processing yet? Figured it'd be a long shot because of Christmas - just so long as they get here before Jan 14th for the cashback

      • still processing…

    Got a great overall deal!

Purchased from Harvey Norman Moore Park the wireless headphones. Price match Bing Lee $337.00. added $20 iTunes card.

    total cost is $357.00.
    net cost is $357 - $50(amex offer)-$150(cashback)- $32(GST as I am travelling overseas)

That equals $125 for the headphones and $20 for the $20 iTunes card

    Amazing deal!

    • Great stacking! Should've thought about price matching with HN before buying from Bing Lee. I'm happy with $186 though. Let's hope the headphones turn out good!

  • went to 3 Harvey Normans In SA to price match (wirelss model) and best i got was $370 (problem being we dont have bing lee here in SA) still got it cos of the amex spend 350 get 50 back. and getting 150 back from sennheiser. so essentially got it for $170.

  • Well Harvey Norman Nunawading (Vic) refused to price match and said their best price is $398.oh wells.

    • Why not just order online ?
