Guys, have been waiting for a deal on this one. After cash rewards cash back = $2466.24.

Bing Lee had a deal on this last month.

I was also tempted by the other recent 50% off the top of the range panasonic. Although this was the 55", the 65" of the same level is too dear for me at over 3K.
Sony are yet to discount the 55" version of this, which last time around went for under $1500.00

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2015

  • Don't forget 4% CR which is on the rrp. That's almost another $200.

    • Cheers, I did put it under details, should really have put it on the title though (= $2466.24.).

      • That's all good. I actually meant the CR is 4% * 4499 = $180.

        • I think the CR cash back of 4% would be off the $2569.00 you actually pay (therefore $102.76), not the RRP.

IF, and I mean If it's off the RRP then I'd be jumping on this ASAP.
Maybe we should contact Scotty (?), the CR REP to confirm.

        • @ozf1: I bought a few items from Sony and they all get tracked with the RRP. Of course I cant guarantee.

        • +1

I got the CR on the RRP when bought a discounted Blu-ray player 2 weeks back from Sony store… Also Sony's CR is on RRP including GST whereas most other retailers pay CR only on Price before GST

  • I don't know why my comment was deleted/unpublished as I did not invite people to privately buy from me, as is I already put an ad in the forums prior to these sales so I don't know how I breached mod rules. I was not calling out for people to buy the TV I purchased… If anything I was putting people off buying the TV as it has noted backlight bleed issues and is a lower quality panel. In my opinion Samsung SUHD TVs and LG OLEDs (of course) vastly outperform the Sonys, even the flagship model. In terms of lag, PQ and other features. Most people I've met buying high end or large TVs don't care so much about audio because home theater surround sound is becoming widely accessible and much more affordable which vastly outperform built-in speakers (most of which can be beaten by a low-end generic 70W soundbar). On that note the audio is also not good in this entry level Sony UHD. I wish I read the online reviews before buying.

Also Dick Smith/David Jones have had the 55" model selling for under $1500 advertised for weeks now (nearly half the Sony store RRP of $2899). I don't understand how some people looking for a mid-size Sony UHD haven't come across it. It may not sound like it but I've been a Sony fanboy for over a decade. I have purchased five VAIOs, six Bravias and three Xperia phones over that time (and a few Sony-Ericssons). It saddens me to say they no longer have the premium in quality like they used to over what I used to think of as second tier brands (LG, Samsung). It's telling pricing for the 4ks (at least the smaller models) is converging with the RRP for the Full HDs. The panels they are using are barely better than Aldi and Dick himself. It's little wonder their market share is going as they are becoming greedy with their mark-up margins. Who is going to pay $4499 for a panel that cost less than and around a grand to manufacture? At that price point they need to invest in technologies beyond frame dimming basic LCD/LED with poor backlight uniformity, relative lag and washed out blacks. If they want to drop the quality out of the brand and become a cheap imitation of what once was that's fine but drop the price to reflect it, as is they are taking advantage of loyal past customers who take 'SONY' being synonymous with 'quality'.

  • Does anyone own this tv?

I found the overseas equivalent (I think) on rtings and being a VA panel its black levels / contrast are much better than LG IPS panels.. Supposedly uses Samsung panel…

    • No Samsung panel. I have the 55 inch version and it has brilliant viewing angles -obviously not as good as an IPS display, but contrast is far superior and no noticeable clouding which I've seen in some Samsung SUHD panels. I think the 65" version uses direct led lighting compared to the edge lit 55", so ymmv. Some people comment on the lack of snappiness in the UI with android TV, but this is fixed after a couple of software updates. Just my opinion.

  • Just took on this deal with cash rewards. End up only paying 2390 delivered to me. :) it's not as good as a previous bing lee deal that's 100 less. . But at least it's a better price than Harvey Norman. And the CRcash back is about 180.

    • Good onya' Ministrinity.
Please let us know if you do get the 4% CR on the RRP or the purchase price. Cash rewards rep could not confirm if on RRP or purchase price.
I actually originally posted the deal with the 4% CR price, but MODs edited the title price.
I'm about to pull the trigger on my other posted deal (Pana 65" 4$2970). So Id be interested to know, even though that Pana is rated higher than this, I don't mind 'saving' $600.00.
