Yup a legit sale, I came back with two Hugo suits for around $350 each. Also a Hugo tie for $50, and a nice cufflink set for $75. Pretty good range, and everything is half price. They might be a little older in stock but some suits and accessories still look smashing.

      Doesn't 50 for a tie seem a bit excessive?

      • +11

        Unless you prefer Lowes ties?

        • I'm not old enough to be wearing ties or suits regularly for any reason so I don't know much apart from my school formal. What is the difference between a 'Lowes' tie and Hugo boss tie that makes them worth so much more? Or is it more of a markup because of the brand name?

        • +4

          @cheesesticks:

Hugo Boss are well known for their quality, yes they charge a lot by anyone's standards but they have excellent quality in materials used and cuttings.

So lets talk about shoes, if you are into sports there is no way you are going to buy a pair of Lowes/KMart/Big W sports shoes when you can afford a pair of decent Nikes/Adidas/UA etc and yes every brand have their bargain/entry level range where quality is of a noticeably lower quality. Price range can be anything from a entry level $100+ to a top end $260+ (MJs) for Nikes basketball shoes as an example unless you are happy with a $50 pair of KMart specials.

        • @cheesesticks: Quality of fabric. Lowes tie polly vs hugo boss likely silk (or blend). Lowes ties are also hideously ugly designs. I would guess Lowes ties are probably generally a less fashionable cut (ie wider).

        • @cheesesticks: if you work in an office, thee people around you will notice your nicer 'Hugo Boss' tie. The 'Lowes' tie will probably wear out after a while and have fluff balls and the stitching will come loose.

As they say, you get what you pay for… and $50 for a tie is on the cheap end of the spectrum.

However, Hugo Boss apparel isn't typically reasonable value for money even on sale - $350 Hugo Suits sound like they are fused.

        • $350 for a hugo boss suit isn't reasonable value?

I find the cotton they use on their business shirts are great quality. Soft, decent thickness, easy to iron and barely shrunk after washing if at all. I paid $80 for their shirts during their last sale.

        • @bangmango:

$350 for a hugo boss suit is cheap, but that doesn't necessarily constitute good value - depends on what suit you are getting.

I have no idea about their shirts, but then for $80 I can get an MTM shirt with mop buttons.

@bangmango: fused canvas, not tailored. Most tailors around the city can measure you and import a super 120 wool suit from thailand for that price, custom inner lining and working cuff buttons too.

It's a tempting price for the brand itself, but the suit is most likely average at best

          @krisspy:

Probably. But hey there are people still want a $350 Hugo Boss suit!

        • +1

          @bangmango:

Their fused suits are no difference to Peter Jacksons, Saba, etc. Average run quality. At $350, not bad, because at least their block and style is trendier than others.

        • @krisspy: Where do you find a tailor like this? I have tried searching but have not had any luck (in Perth).

        • @Biance: im sure alot of tailors do this but just dont say, it's hella cheap importing suits once you've figured out sizing.

Cant help you out since im from syd, but theres a tailor next to the dymocks building on george street that does this.

        • @Biance: Look up LookSmart Alterations in Perth. There should be a store near you where ever you are. But in my experience, the one in Park Centre East Victoria Park is the best one. They can measure your size but I'm not sure if it is free, you will probably have to pay a small fee.

  • Will pop in tomorrow and have a look.

Can confirmed that this is happening in birkenhead point store as well

  • Will definitely check out ha our town in Tuesday, thanks OP

  • Would anyone know if this is also available for the normal BOSS stores? Or is it only available in the outlet stores?

    • +3

Not happening in normal boss stores

    • +3

      yeah righto mate

      750 is fairly standard for a suit…

      • I did say jacket only I did not say suit so trousers is extra. Trousers are normally $500 or more each, and as members say that is not even a luxury price. It's just a normal price, don't expect Connors prices.

    • I have a suit and a few shirts from them.
The quality is great. Their stuff still look new after so many years.

  • +2

Ppl buy HB because they have enough money to see the quality and value, if you can't get your head around, then buy cheaper ones
HB is not the even a luxury brand, go see some, you won't even write this - too shocked

    • -4

People who buy HB probably don't understand quality suiting - unless you are buying the Selection line you are buying a suit with poor construction for a very large price.

I've owned 4 HB suits and have regretted every purchase - only 1 remains loosely in rotation for very wet weather days.

One of my first suits (okay, my first suit where the pants and the jacket were identical fabrics) was a hugo boss. I thought it stood up very well because it was a 96%/4% wool blend, which was perfect for me not being overly nice with it. There is no guarantee that comes with the name, but I was happy.

Boss suits are average quality for high tier fashion price.

I would never spend $1k on their basics range suits when a MJ Bale, Ted Baker, Joe Black suit would all be cheaper and better.

  • About the first time I have seen a decent sale at Hugo boss in harbour town. Most times its normal prices.

  • -7

a lot of asians buy them

    • what's your point? we love to shop.

      • -4

Anyone know if sale is on in Melbourne stores too???

    • Yeah it's on at the Preston store

      • Does anyone know if this is on at Essendon DFO?

      • is melbourne outlet FLAIR?

      • Are there still good stuff left?

  • Beware, they are not restocking anything. What you see is what you get. Today was my 3rd visit. Sadly all the good stuff is gone.

    • early bird gets the worm! the only boxing day sale i went to was myer, because they had 40% off suits, so i got myself a pierre cardin for $240 :)

      • Isn't Cardin the Aldi of suits?
