  • What happens to all the store fixtures that don't get sold? I was looking for some racking for the garage. I bought some from my local Dick Smith but they have since closed. The other store near me has different racking.

    • They are abandonned in the store.

      • Surely the owner of the property would require Dick Smith to clear the shop.

        • No, we have the option of abandonning all unsold fixtures in closed stores.

You should check through the windows of a closed shop if you have one close by.

          @Pielo:

So the landlord then has to clear out everything left behind? That is shabby.

        • @fatboyj:

That is what they agreed to.

  • Dick Smith Chullora still open. 70-95% off and some things are just rounded down to $1
Try to bargain with them because they'd be happy to take things down

Does anyone know what happened to the appliances section?
Were they returned back to the supplier?

    • +1

Appliances were the first things to go at 20% off during the first couple of weeks, alongside other products like Kindles and Fitbits.

  • Got a 4G Vodafone Pocket wifi R215 for $19.80 in Hobart this arvo. Still some cheap 3G, and other cheap phones available.

  • Went to Fountain Gate

had a few macbooks, an Ipad and an Ipad Pro. the ipad pro was new in box and jsut under $1000, which is good, but dont need..

    all over today

    • Did you stick around until the bitter end? Did they say where the Apple stuff went? Grays?

      • Only went in morning. The prices were final

Yep its all over. Went to the Bourke St store and scored 4 DS t-shirts as they were packing up boxes of stuff. A fat flustered staff guy was moving ink toner from the shelves to the till area, he looked pissed off having to work on his last day.

So going to wear a t-shirt tomorrow and beg outside the McDonalds on Swanston St. Spare a jobless brother some change?

    Bye Bye Dick.

    • What time did you get there? I was there at about 4:20pm and it was already closed.

      • +1

From the receipt it was exactly 2.29pm. The used Philips monitors were going for $20 and they had a table of junk with a make an offer sign. There were 3 boxes of shirts, L and 2XL sizes, lots there so got there at the right time. The shirts are high quality and well made. Best thing I ever bought from Dick.

Whaaa? Any chance you got any spares? I wanted one as a lasting memory, but the best I got was a copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 on the PSP.

          :(

    Website already directs to Kogan!

    I thought I'd never say this, but…

    I'm going to miss them.

Not because of their prices or services, but because of the fact a giant has fallen and had such an impact of the electronics we own in our household. Some stayed, others were binned and made us realise how a general product would work before we'd shell out for a pricey-er one.

Welp, I guess the only reminiscence of Dick Smith would be a PSP title of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 for $0.50. Still sealed too!

    • Dude, if they still had a PSP game released in 2006 during their closing down sale then that just shows how poorly managed they must be.

        • game was released in 2005. The funny thing about that is it was stuck on the wall on a frame and the staff were shocked that I bought it. I mean, come on, it's 50 cents!

    R.I.P Dick

  • I will miss Dick Smith for their mouse pad for laser mouse and their range of cell batteries.
