  • what's the best way to unlock this these days?

    • Unlock? buy more??

      • I'm presuming that the device is locked to the telstra network. to use on a different network, it needs to be 'unlocked'.

    • Probably cheap to buy one for each network. I got a 3g Vodafone one for ten bucks or less.

Anyone know if these are any good?

I've been looking at it for a bit at Harvey Norman ($19 there) http://www.harveynorman.com.au/telstra-4g-usb-mobile-broadba…

Will respect to Trent..this would be a better choice imo.

      • Thanks for the link. I'm planning to use it always plugged into an Android tablet, not sure which is best but I'd rather not fiddle with WiFi

      • Yes and no.

WiFi is definitely better for Tablets, connecting via USB is doubtful at best.

Wifi is best for connecting multiple devices.

The WiFi linked to above only supports the 1800MHz 4G. If I remember correctly this USB one supports 700MHz (better country and in building coverage) and I think 2300 or 2600MHz. Supporting more frequencies also reduces the chances of congestion.

        • Would this USB work on any Android tablets? I want to "set and forget", forever. I want to keep it permanently plugged in/charged. Some of the comments on the WiFi one was that it could have issues being plugged in and starting up.

          @Adamiam:

It will depend on the particular tablet and what drivers have been provided in the Android that it came with. This USB one didn't work with my router, but some 3G ones do. I know a router is not a tablet, but the principle remains the same. Some 4G phones don't even support OTG, which really surprised me as I thought it would be standard on modern chipsets. I don't know about current tablets.

With wifi you know it will work.

        • @not a bargain:

Good points, thanks a lot for your help.

@Adamiam: You need the program to connect it to the network so unfortunately it wont work on tablets , so you will need a wifi model

        • @TheVoucherKing: Ah, so even if I could get an Android driver for this, it still couldn't work. Thanks.

  • Noob question, how this thing works?
I need to insert Telstra SIM Card on it?

    • Comes with one with 2GB of data for 30 days. Plug into a computer (Windows, may be Mac & Linux) it installs software to drive it, then it allows you to connect to the Telstra 3G/4G network.

      • I see. Thanks.

  • $4.44 Unlock code. I use this company all the time and they are great

Different provider, cheaper deal at a point in time?

  • FYI~ I know with USB sticks that the longer u leave them plugged into the computers the shorter their lifespan is - not sure if it relates to telstra dongles as well. Ive got about 10 used ones sitting in a draw - always best to buy a new one.

  • what's the microsd do? do you mean micro sim?

    • No, it also has a microSD slot. You can also use them as a microSD card reader.

  • This device does not support LTE700 according to ZTE Australia…

  • Has anyone had problems installing on windows 10?
It wont load up the drivers and the install files
I tried downloading the drivers from the ZTE website and they don't work if I manually try to install them.
