Thanks everyone for posting with results n receipts.

    • Bring Uni voucher printed on colour, cut it out and bring in the remainder of the page to show them full page offer.
    • Bring copy of Auspost receipt.
    • Smile and be nice :)

Auspost drive the word 'Expansion' on the front of box is in green.

    Product code is 61993.

  • None at Lidcombe NSW

  • None left at Kogarah, Mortdale or Campsie.
Just bought the last one at Miranda =)

Went to Bondi and Bondi beach. Told Coogee had one left. They gave me the phone number and had it put away for Michael. I turn up after 20 minute drive and parking, they say they had an Indian guy ask for one, and AP ask him did you call? He says yes. AP asks is your name Michael? He says yes. The shit takes my hard drive. Hope you lose all your data.

    • +1

Whenever I put an item on hold I always leave my phone number and tell them I will quote both my name and number when I come in to pick up the item. That will stop any Michael trying to imitate me.

    • +2

The fault sits with the AP. Silly man. He could have phrased the question some other way. Or you could have said you were Michael too. Haha!

    • Did you check Maroubra or matto?

      • Thanks, I'll check the all the beaches until Melbourne. :)

  • Can anyone post a WA receipt so I can try OW price match?

Rang Auspost line and they said it has to be a store specific special as they have no record of any $99 4TB on their system ugh.

  • Local office works (Midland WA) wanted a photo of auspost stock. Anyone able to assist??

    • Did you show a receipt? If so which one.
Let me know how you go

Btw the box is white with green but I think ow has the orange one.

  • Clarkson, WA store out of stock.

  • I dropped by Southland Post office in WA, there is no stock, but they said there are 4 in Cannington post office. I did not go there. Go get one in Cannington. (Hope you guys can get one of each so at least 4 happy people are happy)

  • Picked up late one from Blackwood SA tonight

    • Did they have any more at BWD Skippy ?
or was "late" supposed to be "last"

  • +3

Sorry Guys… I bought the last one from the Melbourne CBD (Law Courts?) about a week ago..

They said it was the last one, so I didnt post it here as I thought it was a once off.. Sorry guys!

I managed to price match at JB with the receipt printed out. Think I got lucky.

    • +1

Can you please upload your receipt. Want to try my local JB.

      • Can you name who served you by chance? Would like to go in and try to get this!

  • Aus Post seem to have a very limited ability to search for items within their system based on the item name/description. Much better off quoting their product code if possible - 61993.

  • no stock in Cannington wa

  • +1

That 1 left at Mt Ommaney, QLD must have been sold - was told today none left.

  • +2

I got Officeworks in Liverpool to price match it - the guy actually said they only price match if its on their website, since its not he called Auspost and got an online price of $119 from the guy on the phone and eventually he beat it and sold it for $114. I know its not for $99, but hey $114 for 4TB is still great!

  • Damn. Was gonna try highpoint JB but they only seem to have the 3TB one

    • Damn…. Thanks for posting this

      • Actually they did have one left. I tried to price match but they needed to see it on a website :(
So no go anyway. I also tried Officeworks Yarraville beforehand no luck. Wondering if I should bother with Maribynong Officeworks or just give up.

EDIT: No luck with Maribynong Officeworks Store either.
Got frustrated and ended up buying 4 $30 Telstra Pre Paid Starter kits for $10 each… So I didn't COMPLETELY waste the trip.

  • Don't bother with Office Works Civic, refused to match even with the receipts

  • No stock Prospect SA

    • A nice lady called around for me, there are none in SA. Blackwood shows 1 but they sold it already.

  • Why not go to Office works and get a price-match?
I bought a 2T Seagate portable drive there yesterday for $108, to use as an external hard-drive on my home network (since my non-tech-savvy partner has a tendancy to kill my laptops).
Not opened the box yet, so if I can get the 4T one from my local Aust Post, I'll take the 2TB one back.

    • They won't do it because the price difference is too great.

$199 (OW) Vs $99 (Austpost) is unusual.

Most shops are reluctant to price match because of the huge difference in price.

    • That's what I did, worked really well and used $10 uni voucher too.

      • I know you did, but not every OW would do it.

I've tried 2 OW and 2 JB stores.
        All said no.

So you got lucky along with the lady who got it price matched in Chadstone JB.

        • I was the same, no stock in local NSW Aus Post stores according to their system.

JB wouldn't pricematch as $99 is "$90 below their cost price", they offered to do it for $163 or $99 for the 3TB model.

OW couldn't pricematch because they needed to sight a web site/catalogue etc, the receipt from AusPost, JB, OW wasn't good enough - although they did try to ring the useless AP direct number but gave up after being on hold for longer than 10 mins.

Might try another JB tomorrow, but I've spent a fair bit of time so far with no joy :(

        • @rysith: I also got OW to price match it. They tried to ring my local Auspost but were on hold for 10-15 minutes, so after checking with the manager they just put it through for me anyway. I didn't have a copy of the $10 voucher but I feel like they would've been reluctant to accept it.

        • +1

I tried Harvey Norman and Good Guys too- no deal.
They wouldn't do it with the receipt, they needed a website/Advert to price match.
None of my local post offices have got it, so no good for me. But at least while checking out what I had, I found I already have a 2T Expansion Harddrive that I'd forgotten about….

  • If you do try any of the Aus Post stores, try asking at the counter - I didn't get a 4T for $99 but did end up getting a 1T Toshiba for $49 (cheapest I've seen it is $77 at Officeworks).

No joy at the Woden post office in ACT, but the lovely people at JB Woden agreed to price match for me. Thanks OP!

  • Thanks to OP for posting this, was able to go into my local GPO, price card was in their cabinet, they didn't have any in stock, but contacted another store around 50 km's away and they had one. It will be delivered either Monday or Tuesday. Fantastic timing, as I need to backup a MacBook for a reinstall and copy a heap of files for a laptop that needs returning to work. Anyone know of decent BackUp Software (Seagate or Other) for either Mac or PC?

  • Bunbury, WA. I bought the last [and only] one today. Thanks OP.

  • +1

Any chance anyone can photograph the price card in store?? Maybe then someone will pricematch

    • +1

Given Ausposts's useless online store and centralised phone number that you have to wait an eternity on hold for, this may be our only hope :)

  • None left in Melton Vic

  • +2

Finally success, Jb price matched it for me from sighting the AP receipt!

    • Would this still work now?

      • I doubt it, I went to another JB to buy a few more (need 6 for my NAS) and after looking at the receipt from here on my phone they said "oh that must be from Ozbargain, which someone likely purchased due to a pricing error and uploaded the receipt"

They also wouldn't do it after sighting the other JB receipt and apparently the other salesperson that sold it for that price would "get in trouble"

So I got lucky - but you can always try your luck.

I also had Auspost check delivery stock and they said there were none in any other Auspost store available.

  • It's a shame seagate is a heap of shit these days

last two 3TB I bought from dicksmith around 12 months ago are now dead.. yet the WD drives on the same power in the same computer have almost 40,000 hours..

  • +3

managed to get 3 at the local OW price matched. I think the key is to go late - I went at 11:30pm - when they CBF checking and the night shift staff is probably less aware of these price match requests that happens during the day…

  • ACT tuggeranong only has the 2tb model on display. Asked the lady at the counter and she said they had no stocks out back as well.
