Festiva Compact Spit Roaster $35 (Half Price) @ Woolworths

180

Long time lurker here posting my first deal.

Saw these spit roasters for half price at Coorparoo Woolworths this afternoon. I had a bit of a dig around online and it seems these festiva spit roasters are the same as the ones that Masters sell. From what I can tell they are pretty well regarded by the guys on aussie BBQ forums as a cheap bang for your buck spit roaster.

I figured you can't go wrong getting it at half price. Not sure if this is Coorparoo only or at other stores.

  • They're great, the ability to move the meat up & down is a great help (especially for lamb & pork when they start spitting)

Anyone else think something different when reading 'spit roaster'?

    • Well he did use 'bang' and 'spit roaster' in the same sentence

    • Are you a swinger?

    • Guilty!

    • I don't think I'd want to participate in a 'spit roast' for any amount of money lol

    • Fingercuffs, is that you? ;-)

    Has anyone got this one?
Tips and comments good or bad appreciated.

I will set it up next Saturday.
First time for me cooking with charcoal, etc.

    • Get one of these: http://www.bunnings.com.au/bbq-buddy-charcoal-bbq-starter_p3…

Makes it much easier to get all of them to temperature.

      • I did get one of those too.
        :-)

I got some fire lighters….do I put that under the hole and then fill it up with charcoal?

        • What I've been doing is put a first layer of charcoal, two small lighters on top of either side of the middle coal piece, then more coal on top… then drop a match in the gaps and manoeuvre some more coal on top of where the flame is now coming out.

So it kinda looks like that. Repeat as necessary for however much you need. :)

Sometimes the instructions tell you to put some under the platform, and it IS much easier to light them in that position and then put your bbq buddy on top, but I find it doesn't heat it as well.

  • No stock in SA. :( :( :(
