  • Nice one dubya.

  • Can this be used to transfer the $30 included on the sim to a number I already have with optus?

  • +1

It wasn't long ago that Woolworths was selling these for $5.

Also last month Scoopon were selling them for $1 delivered. How times change.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/223522

  • I know $10 seems expensive now after stockpiling those $5 Optus and Telstra start pack from a month ago.

    • Ive noticed woolworths have these for $5 every few weeks, Still have 3 as spares

      • They were $10 at woolworths a week ago

        • +1

          Not every week.

I grab one whenever it's $5 and use it $2 days for 500mb data.

        • @easternculture: Is there a way you can keep this credit not expiring for long time. Let's say if use this as a secondary sim on a dual sim phone and only us it to call other optus numbers. Do you have to keep recharging every so often to keep the credit going. Once there is no credit left it wouldn't let you make calls to even another optus numbe.
What's the cheapest way to achieve this?

          @rmamila:

Well optus 2 dollar days credit last for 6 months. Is that what your after

          Cheers

        • @easternculture: Hope the new one is same and credit last for 6 months without recharging. In that case I can keep buying a new sim when ever the $2 deal is available. It should re-appear within 6 months anyway. Thanks for the reply.

Can this be used on google play?

    • No i think only Telstra pre-paid $30 SIM will work for that.

    • Only Telstra and their funny money will work on google play store

      • What if you've already activated the Telstra $30 SIM on the $30 Freedom Plus plan do you know if it still works on Google Play?.

        • Yes.

      • Funny money works? PM me please~~….

    • Looks like you can buy play store apps with Optus billing -

      http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/apps/google-play-store-b…

      • I believe that would be only for Optus postpaid mobile plans that the Google Play charge gets added onto the monthly bill. Doubt a pre-paid plan will work.

        • That's correct just tried and didn't work :(

      • Yes, but that isn't free. Telstra actually gives you FREE credit when you use their pre paid. Right!?

  • Using these for $4 on $2 daily plan for a 1GB of data a day still pretty good for $40 for 30GB data a month
and if dont use it for 1 day you dont lose $4 for that 1Gb for the day

    • I also use the daily plan, Love it! some days I don't use the service thanks to Viber, Whats app, FB messenger and IOS messenger :). WIFI at work n home all day everyday.

      • I use daily plan on my backup mobile phone (incase the main mobile gets broken or lost). If i don't use it which is very often don't get charged.

    • Hi I don't quite get how this daily plan works and to get 30GB for $40?…. Are you able to use the $30 as credit from these starter kits or are they associated with the mobile number they come with?? Sorry for my ignorance.. I haven't used this yet as I'm on the Telstra pre-paid sim until early Feb….

      • You need to transfer number. Also I'm not sure how you get 30gb at $40..each gb is $4 so 30gb would cost $120.

        • you are correct it will cost you $120 if want keep the same number. Using it for data only you dont have to worry about keeping the number. So you have to activate 4 starter kits $30 cards a month so when you buy then at $10 each that is how you get $40

        • @rps:

          Is the $4/gb on top of the $2/day? I.e. $6/day? That's what I understood it to be….
I am wishing I got the dual sim G4 now!
With the starter kits, do you just keep activating the sims when you run out of credit?

  • Awesome! but still got 3 Sims and 2 rainchecks from the Telstra $5 Deal.

    • is it possible to get rainchecks on these deals? The store manager refused to do so

      • +1

The lady at Hornsby (NSW) was nice. She said that they didn't have it in stock but that she knew about the deal and that she'd honour it if I came with the raincheck within a month. Gave me two.
Was cheering at first but the next day I bought 4 SIMS at Manly for $20. Have only used one so far but at least the expiry isn't until 2017. Don't know what to do with the rainchecks now. Don't really want to spend another $10 on something I already have plenty of or something I don't need. But then that defies the purpose of OzBargarin too. In a bit of a dilemma TBH. :P

        • Sell the raincheck to someone LOL

          That would be new..

        • I am keen to buy that off you if you dont need it :)

  • Can I use this and tether the data?

    • I think all new Optus plans allow tethering, but I haven't read the T&Cs.

    • +1

Can I use this and tether the data?

I certainly do (on android phone)
      never had an issue.

  • I'm on the lookout for a nice economical plan that gives me something equivalent to the Telstra post paid Medium plan, with $1000 worth of calls, with free text. (this isn't for me) Data used is about 500mb per month & the option of calling NZ & India would be nice, but not a pre-req. This is for someone in their 70s, so calling cards become too fiddly for them. Any ideas/suggestions?

  • East Garden nSW has stock

  • Does include Unlimited mobile & local call? or only data?

  • No stock at the QV Big W in Melbourne, even though the website says "In Stock"

    • same as NSW stores…it said in stock but all of the store i go to are out of stock.
